Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I paid American Express credit card in full XX/XX/XXXX. Amount {$3000.00}. Due date was XXXX XXXX. It was paid by XXXX XXXX. In XXXX XXXX they sent me a statement for additional interest for {$44.00}. Now, due to penalties and interest it is up to, I think {$280.00}. Their policy states that if it is paid in full by the due date, no additional interest will be charged. I contacted Amex XX/XX/XXXX, disputed the charge and closed the account and cut up the card. They closed the online account and I can no longer view statements. I sent them 2 letters and had 2 or 3 additional phone conversations. I also filed a dispute with the 3 reporting agencies .... to no avail. I had the account for over 7 years and was never delinquent once. They do not explain their inconsistencies and continue to send me emails or letters with inconsistent information. I paid off 13 credit cards in XX/XX/XXXX and American express is the only one to do this. ( I typed my phone number in wrong. It should be XXXX. My cell is XXXX )

Consumer Complaint: I want to dispute several charges. I call the main line and talked with XXXX on XX/XX/2023. She said she would transfer me to the dispute department. I was on hold for more than 10 minutes. I hung up and spoke with XXXX. He also did not transfer me to the dispute department. I asked him for the phone number and/or address for the department so I can send in my disputes by letter, he said he doesn't know that information. I then asked for his supervisor, he said the supervisor is busy and would call me back. He did not specify a time when the supervisor would call me back.

Consumer Complaint: American Express ( AMEX ) XXXX XXXX has placed a corporate business debt onto my personal credit report as of XX/XX/XXXX and my credit report has plummeted over XXXX points. In XXXX, AMEX closed my platinum, XXXX, and XXXX card after I paid off the previous two. Additionally that year, they stripped my online access to pay my XXXX card online. After several failed attempts over the phone of them walking me through a website that clearly did not allow me to pay my credit card bill they offered to enter me into a payment relief program that was automatically drafted from my accounts each month. I was aware that this was a scam used meaning they really wanted me to provide automatic payments via one of my checking accounts and not allow me to pay online as is my preference and how my business pays all of our bills. In the Spring of XXXX, my business hit another pitfall with clients terminating their contracts and leases early. Therefore, I was unable to make my obligation of paying my bills but explained to AMEX that if they allowed me online access that once money came in I could pay them, however they insisted that I give them an online account from which they could withdraw monies from. We were at a stand still. As of today, XX/XX/XXXX another AMEX employee just hung up on me after gaining all of my new information for work address, email, phone, personal address, SSN, and date of birth. He has yet to return my call to discuss removing this business information from my personal credit account and adding to my business account. He informed me because it was a small business account that they could do it, meaning place business debt onto my personal credit report. I explained that it is a violation of my personal credit as outlined by the consumer financial protection board and is considered incorrect, fraudulent accounting. That's when the phone hung up. I'm even unsure if my conversation was valid with an actual employee, when I was transferred 4 times within a 3 minute timeframe with AMEX. Likewise, upon my first two calls with reps at AMEX, no one could even find a debt because it is not in my name but established with my business. All of this could be resolved and the debt can be paid if AMEX would allow online payment of account, but somehow they believe removing access to systematic payments to be punishment for going through business slumps.

Consumer Complaint: Upon receiving my credit report, I noticed some accounts that I didn't recognize. I immediately reached out to law enforcement and made a police report that's on file. These police reports have been mailed to the companies indicating that I am a victim of fraud and that the alleged account does not belong to me. The accounts are not mines and I totally dispute them. I have requested several times for the company to validate the debt and prove that I am indeed the correct person that opened and owes the debt. These letters were sent via USPS to the company ; I have not received anything that VALIDATES the debt as of today. I know my rights, and this is a direct violation of the FDCPA Guidelines. I want the items validated or removed immediately as this is causing me distress and it is interfering with my life goals to obtain a home for my daughter and I. Before contacting an attorney for legal advice, I wanted to contact your agency for guidance.
