Consumer Complaint: Hi, I bought this American Express gift card today ( XX/XX/2023 ) and it is active. I bought because the company American express says that it is useable as long as the merchant accepts American Express... Well, it is a gross misrepresentation and a lie. My gift card has been declined by XXXX and XXXX. XXXX even closed my account for 24 hours because of this. Later I googled this phenomenon and came to know other people have also suffered from this. I thought maybe it is best to use it on a different merchant that accepts American Express cards, so this is what I did. I ordered XXXX USD worth of products and yet again it went into pending transaction. My question is why was my transaction not completed? Balance of my Gift is reduced by the same amount i.e. XXXX USD but the merchant hasn't confirmed the receipt of the payment. I have a bad feeling that American Express has taken my money in the name of " Pending transaction '' and nothing beneficial will come out of this for me. I have also read experiences of users on internet regarding the same problem and they never either got the products they ordered or received their money back. Please help

Consumer Complaint: Based on the marketing of American Express, I now have 4 Amex gift cards with {$200.00} each on them and I can not use them anywhere. AMEX is illegally keeping my money from me. They engaged in false advertising to mislead consumers into getting these cards with the promise of being able to use them universally, which is patently false. I can not find a single retailer to accept my gift cards as payment. They are universally declined. I have spent multiple hours speaking with agents on this issue and have only been told that the card can be used anywhere. Further to my dismay, I was told that the website on the back of the card provided to check your balance may or not be a fraudulent website so to not trust that either. These cards need to be discontinued as they are falsely advertised and do not function as viable commercial substance. The never-ending list of companies that will not accept these cards as payment include vital gatekeepers such as XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. AMEX simply gets to hold onto the funds illegally by having a product that can not be functionally used. This is totally unacceptable business practice and needs to be dealt with accordingly.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, I requested a credit report. When I received the report, I noticed credit inquires for XXXX, American Express and XXXX falsely in my name. I have never requested any cards or products if XXXX, American Express or XXXX. Ive contacted XXXX and Ive followed through with the process. Currently it is XXXX, and the inquires or request for these cards are still on my credit report. Divulging deeper, I took into account a specific address XXXX, GA address that appeared on the XXXX and XXXX credit report. That address does not belong to me. Recently XX/XX/XXXX an associate from XXXX expressed to me that the XXXX, GA address has been flagged in various fraud cases. Another case of XXXX, is from the company XXXX XXXX in which I have no association with and do not recognize. Ive noticed an approximate {$500.00} loan was applied for. Again, this is not my identity. Also noticed that no payment has ever occurred. I REACHED OUT TO XXXX AND THEY STATED THEY DO NOT HAVE ME ON RECORD, but the dispute was returned as stay the same.. which gives untruthfulness. As mentioned before I did not apply for any products/ services from these companies/banks ( XXXX, XXXX XXXX or AMERICAN EXPRESS ) in the last 2-3 years. It is fraud. Please remove.

Consumer Complaint: I have tried to use my AMEX prepaid card at XXXX different online merchants on XX/XX/23 and XX/XX/23 and have been declined at every single one. Each transaction was less than the prepaid card value ( {$200.00} ). I called AMEX and they told me that all the transactions should have work, and that I just need to be inputting my own billing address. I input my own billing address each time and the card would still not go through. This prepaid card is advertised to be able to work anywhere that AMEX is accepted but it is not true, the card is not accepted both online and in-person. They have explained that this prepaid card has previously had issues with merchants like XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX... these are major retailers and this card was advertised to work where AMEX is accepted. If I knew how limited this card use is I would not have selected to use AMEX for my prepaid card of choice. This card is useless everywhere and I am unable to complete any transactions.

Consumer Complaint: I applied and was approved for an American Express Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card ending in XXXX with my Marriott Bonvoy number XXXX and I paid a {$250.00} annual fee. I also charged a large XXXX purchase on the card and was supposed to receive XXXX Bonvoy points in my XXXX account. I have yet to have my card linked correctly or points credited. I have called multiple times and every time I am told they have escalated the issue to get my card linked correctly like my already linked Marriott Bonvoy business credit card. They always tell me a supervisor is reviewing it and they never call me back or fix the problem. The agent last week said a supervisor attempted to call me 3 times ( we eventually spoke ) and still the issue is not fixed. I have spent countless hours on the phone and chat trying to get the account correctly linked and I shouldnt have to do what American Express gets paid to do. They promote these products and charge annual fees but do not provide the service that was paid for. Their customer service leaves something to be desired.
