Consumer Complaint: Forbearance periods on federal student loans should count towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program eligible payment count. My lender took advantage of my situation fresh out of college and encouraged me to take a forbearance on my loans when in actuality my payments would have been {$0.00} per month on an Income Based Repayment plan, thus counting towards my 120 months of repayment. They did not disclose the amount my payment would have been or else I would have never agreed to the forbearance terms at the young age of XXXX. So many people are in my same position. Give us credit for the months we have been employed in public service and have been responsible for student loans including the forbearance periods that we were wrongfully encouraged to take.

Consumer Complaint: Waiting for close to three months on pslf after formal letter dated XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX indicating all they had to do is verify my one employer. Paid consecutively on time for 16 years- met requirements in 2017 but given incorrect info. XXXX also never verified I could not pay during covid and so continued them. I consolidated under limited waiver now and am clearly eligible and should actually receive a refund but NO time frame is ever given on when they will be forgiven - different things are said - from wait a couple of weeks to it could take months and months. A clear time frame should be given.

Consumer Complaint: I recently got a copy of my consumer report and I see Fed Loan Servicing is furnishing reports in regards to an alleged obligation. I also have letters in the mail I received sometime ago in regards to this same alleged obligation. I am sending a notice delivered in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g, noting that Fed Loan Servicing claim is contested and validation is required.

Consumer Complaint: I have Federal Direct Student Loans. When the limited waiver was announced for loan forgiveness, I phoned FedLoan Servicing on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX to ask about consolidating all of my direct loans into one loan - as I understood was a requirement in the PSLF Limited Waiver guidance. I was informed by XXXX at FedLoan ID XXXX that since all my loans were direct, I did not need to consolidate. I did additional research and learned that when you consolidate, the limited waiver would look at your highest payment count and you would receive forgiveness if you met the 120 qualifying payments and eligible employment. I phoned FedLoan several more times, XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX and phoned again on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX again. I continued to ask for clarification about consolidating. Each time I was informed that I did not have to consolidate because all of my loans were direct. On XX/XX/XXXX I was partially forgiven under the waiver for loans that met the 120 payments. If I had consolidated all of my loans when I first called FedLoan in XXXX, I would have received full forgiveness because the 120 payments would have been met by the waiver applying the highest payment count. I was misinformed each time I phoned FedLoan. I phoned again on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX ID XXXX and she confirmed that they were all a little confused about the waiver rules but confirmed that I was partially forgiven. After much discussion about the waiver rules and reading the guidance together she agreed that if I had consolidated I would have received full forgiveness.

Consumer Complaint: I have issues with XXXX XXXX XXXX and the loans that originated with them. The school frequently talked about the fact that they expected accreditation and that our studies would switch over to XXXX XXXX standings. They never did. I also went back to school a second time after earning a diploma taking less classes but was charged what I believe to be inaccurate pricing.

Consumer Complaint: This is the second complaint filed with CFPB in order to receive accurate recount of my loan status for the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Employer verification forms have been submitted, the latest forms uploaded on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I am aware that FedLoans will no longer be servicing student loans and the program is restructuring. Unable to receive information over the phone. There are XXXX loans which still do not show qualifying payments, and I am curious if this will change with the new loan waiver ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX ). I have gone through multiple loan servicers since graduating medical school in XXXX. Some loans were put on administrative holds or forbearance during the times the loan servicers changed - I want to know if the waiver changes my qualifying payments moving forward and why each loan has different qualifying amounts when all were paid equally since starting residency program in XXXX. Knowing the waiver is only in effect this year, I desire clarity over my loan status.

Consumer Complaint: Hello. I have worked in public service for 9 years. I have been paying on and off over those 9 years. When I decided to go back to school I called the loan servicer XXXX at the time to ask what my options were. I wanted to pay but I couldnt afford the high payment plus paying for school. I was told all or nothing for payments. A hardship would be best or to be in school part time. On top of that I was also told that when in school your loans go to deferment / school forbearance, Those payments would not count towards any forgiveness so its best to just not pay because I would be giving away free money towards a loan. Just wait I wanted to be on pslf and I didnt even have a pslf form filled out. I was told based on my form to verify employment and pay stubs that is all I needed. Sadly this information I was told years ago was and is all wrong. I was on a standard payment plan if some sort making large payments when I could have been on a more affordable one. Im so hurt by this and I know Im not the only one. I wish there was a way to recalculate my payments based on my income at the time and be able to pay these. Now years later I make more money than 9 years ago and my payment is almost the same or less because Im on the right plan. This has to stop people need to be helped out of load not misguided. Forbearance and school should count and should have a set payment of zero. You dont know what you dont know. People want to be out of school Loan debt not in it for a lifetime. I cant even see anything on my loans since they were sold.
