Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Consumer Complaint: USAA bank reported us late payment in XXXX and XX/XX/2018 because while they were investigating an interest rate reduction dispute we were advised to pay what we could while active investigation going on. USAA corrected their error of raising our interest rate and monthly min payments when they found the mistake to be on their end, however, they failed to correct the credit reporting they did. We paid as their representatives advised us to, we did not miss payments as they investigated their mistake ( which took 6 months ), but could not afford the sudden dramatic increase that was not supposed to happen due to the program we were under. USAA inaccurately reported as the mistake was on their end and the advice on how to make monthly payments was on their end. We were told to submit dispute forms - we did. However, the person failed to read our forms and do the full investigation and reported our dispute as " irrelvent ''. I have attempted to leave messages on his voicemail repeatedly, but he will not return calls ( Mr. XXXX XXXX ). I have called the USAA customer service line to get a hold of someone in the dispute resolutions team, however, not one representative knows who to connect me to ( but they manage to repeatedly place me on hold for over 47 min at min each time I call ) and they just send me to dispute resolution for credit cards - who only tells me they can not help me because my accounts are not in default. In other words, I submitted 4 disputes for credit reporting to USAA and 1 to Mr. XXXX directly with a 2 page explanation and not one person has called me back to correct or even discuss the issue. I just sent out letter of complaint to NCUA and Im now turning to credit bureaus to help.

Consumer Complaint: All three credit bureaus still have fraudulent account information showing which results in a low 500 credit score my family has been devastated and my credit ruined. Usaa, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX along with countless inquiries for credit still show on my reports since the breech in 2017. Some will come off for a month or two only resurface. I have spent countless hours and am in despair at this point. My life and credit need to be restored and I need help. Thank you

Issue: Problem with a lender or other company charging your account
Subissue: Money was taken from your account on the wrong day or for the wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: Why has USAA not started making payments to the members that they violated banking laws with yet? I was a USAA customer for over 10 years and left because of their shady practices. The lawsuit I read in January said they are due to make restitution payments, but so far NONE have been mailed. Why is this tailing so long? Because of them, I have had to start completely over with my finances. They lost in court. Enforce the law, it's what you're there for.

Issue: Getting the loan
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: USAA purports itself as a members institution. However, their unwillingness to recast a simple loan has lead me to go through their reapplication process. My credit score, is likely the exact same as last time, yet, they have marked their rate up to a predator 6 % increase on the previous loan. When asked for a reason why, the representative cited only the credit score, which has been fairly static, and is a decent #. They made no mention of market conditions, fed funds rate, or anything else. This leads me to firmly believe that USAA is now engaging in predatory lending as defined by applicable state law. I can not imagine the utter loan shark-ish practice they must be doing to others who have a lower score than mine. It is this disparate treatment, that I find to be Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices that needs to be examined by the OCC and FDIC as it puts not only myself as a customer at a risk, but also a reputational risk for the institution putting every members funds and livelihood in jeopardy.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Can't close your account
Consumer Complaint: After a year of dealing with a debit card fraud case with USAA we have determined we can no longer do business with them and are trying to close our accounts. In early XX/XX/2019 we attempted to close both checking and savings and were told we couldn't because the accounts were in a 'credit only status '. This is outrageous and unacceptable. It has been going on too long and we demand they close the accounts. This institution has already been found guilty of these kind of practices and have paid fines in relation to those class action cases. DO THEY EVER LEARN?

Issue: Struggling to pay your bill
Subissue: Credit card company won't work with you while you're going through financial hardship
Consumer Complaint: I was given the opportunity to pay my WHOLE credit card prior to it being late. When I talked to the representative, she indicated that if I made the payment in full ( when asked if I can get an extension because I had funds coming that was late that was being deposited in my account ), that they would ignore showing a late payment to the credit bureaus. I made the WHOLE payment of over 10k as discussed, and within 3 days, they reported the late payment, thus showing a 130+ point decrease on my credit scores. I have attached a statement that USAA had given me to show that it was NEVER late, and that I am in good standing.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XX/XX/ 2019, {$470.00} was sent to XXXX XXXX with the email address of XXXX via the XXXX App hosted by USAA bank. I purchased a dachshund puppy from a person who told me his name was XXXX XXXX from phone number XXXX. On XXXX XX/XX/ 2019, the alleged shipper with an email of XXXX called me from XXXX ( XXXX, NJ ) at XXXX XXXX telling me that the puppy required a specific crate and demanded I send them {$600.00} ( only through XXXX ) or else the puppy would die. I told them immediately that no legit company would ONLY allow payments through XXXX and that this is a scam. They continued to attempt to persuade me but I said no way you people are awful and ended the phone call. The individual who promised me a puppy that I paid for has continued to harass me regarding paying for this fraudulent shipment of a nonexistant puppy which I found out this scam is common, unfortunately, and there is a website devoted to warning people, but unfortunately I learned that too late.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: USAA has been incorrectly reporting the balance of a prior loan on my credit report. They have been reporting the incorrect amount owed. Plenty of notices have been sent to them to dispute this issue and they have still not corrected this. Reporting false information, which in this case is misrepresenting the amount owed on a loan, s a violation of FDCPA. Also, they translated that misinformation to a 1099-C. I have contacted them via phone several times but was placed on extended hold times and unable to reach a representative about correcting that issue.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Funds not handled or disbursed as instructed
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX 2018, two transactions from XXXX ( {$39.00} ) and XXXX ( XXXX ) were done in error and disputed by me with USAA. A provisional credit was issued and I thought they would investigate to resolve the issue fully. Shortly after, they reversed the credits claiming they needed more information. I provided this information from XXXX and XXXX to no avail. This was the first time I was told that documents were not received through their app portal. Eventually, XXXX reversed the charge, but I'm still waiting on the XXXX transaction, although XXXX sent me an email stating to dispute it with my bank, which I also submitted to USAA. In XX/XX/XXXX 2018, funds were debited from my checking account in the amount of {$200.00} for XXXX XXXX. I did not notice this until the following month. Knowing I no longer had an account with XXXX since XX/XX/XXXX2018 and the balance of {$70.00} ( +/- ) was paid off in XX/XX/XXXX 2018, I knew I did not owe them {$200.00}. I contacted USAA once again to resolve this issue after XXXX told me to contact my bank. I was offered the provisional credit only to have them say they need more information. I provided this information by way of XXXX and also did a conference call with XXXX XXXX USAA, which also was rendered fruitless, as USAA did not acknowledge the information provided by XXXX. USAA decided to reverse the provisional credit on XX/XX/XXXX and also charged me {$29.00} for a NSF. Days later, I noticed another {$60.00} charge from XXXX but have not bothered to dispute it because of previous actions from USAA. In total, USAA has taken {$320.00} from my account without my consent and has yet to resolve this issue fairly.
