Issue: Problem getting a card or closing an account

Subissue: Don't want a card provided by your employer or the government

Consumer Complaint: A US Bank card was sent to my parents address in XXXX with my name on it. It is a " Relia-card '' for unemployment benefits. I was shocked when they told me because I live in XXXX state and never applied for unemployment in XXXX. I have called the fraud hotline in XXXX and notified them but was advised I would not hear back for 2-4 weeks. I am very confused how 1 ) an unemployment claim could be taken out in my name without my personal information and 2 ) how US Bank is not doing more extensive security checks before issuing these debit cards. I did have to apply for and use unemployment for a few months in the beginning of the Covid break out, but have since gone back to work. The unemployment I applied for was in XXXX state AND I ALWAYS do direct deposit. I NEVER use the debit card option. I would like to leave this complaint as an official report of fraud and to get some sort of confirmation that this is being watched or taken care or/ help with what to do next. Please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Subissue: Termination fees or other problem when ending the lease early

Consumer Complaint: Im filing a complaint against US Bank Leasing for increasing the dealer payoff of an automobile lease nearly {$6000.00} to a dealer where I was trading in my car. I had a consumer automobile closed-end lease through US Bank on a XXXX XXXX I purchased in XXXX. I have been working with XXXX XXXX XXXX to trade the car for a new XXXX XXXX to reduce my monthly payment. I still had 5 more payments left on the lease, so I called US Bank to get the amount of the payoff. It took several calls, but I finally got a payoff quote of {$25000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I went into XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to sign the paperwork and purchase the new car. When the XXXX XXXX dealership called US Bank to get the exact amount, they were told that the payoff would be {$31000.00}. This was a shock to me and to the finance people at XXXX XXXX! The dealer called several other people in US Banks lease department and was told the same thing. US Bank said that the car was valuable, so they werent willing to let the lease be paid off for the {$25000.00} left owing on the lease. They admitted on the phone that they just wanted to make more money. I was stunned! I thought payoff amounts were regulated and required to be accurate. The agreement is a closed-end lease through a bank. US Bank is the lender and should have no right to inflate the payoff or retail a car unless it has been repossessed. To resolve the issue, US Bank told me I would have to pay off the loan myself and wait for them to send the title before I could trade in the car. Paying off the lease myself required me to borrow the {$25000.00} for several weeks until they sent the title. In addition, their payoff included {$1700.00} in Utah State sales tax which would not be included in a typical dealer trade in since Utah sales tax is included in the new car purchase. So now Im paying sales tax twice! I have never been late on a payment! And with all the current financial problems COVID 19 is causing, US Bank is intentionally increasing the cost of my new car which reduces the benefit of buying a less expensive car to reduce my monthly payment. Absolutely appalling! I am filing a formal complaint because US Banks practice of inflating lease payoffs to dealers should not be allowed under a closed-end lease agreement. If it is legal for them to do that, it certainly isnt ethical. They are in essence charging me either {$1700.00} extra in sales tax or {$6000.00} extra to the dealership where I am trading in the new car. There are 4 attachments : 1 ) Copy of the original lease, 2 ) Explanation of lease payoff request from the dealer, 3 ) Lease payoff form to dealer, 4 ) Lease payoff form to me,

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue: Billing problem

Consumer Complaint: My vehicle is leased through U.S. bank. It was involved in a hail storm and was damaged. I sent the insurance check to U.S. bank over a month ago and it has still not been sent to my bodyshop to cover the repairs. Everytime I call I get a different story. First they told me the check was sent back to me and I should receive it in 7-10 business days. After I didn't get the check I called back and they told me they sent it out on XXXX to my body shop. When I contacted my bodyshop, they said they had not gotten the check. When I called the 3rd time they told me they still had the check and needed a repair order that matched the ammount of the check. I asked if they could contact my bodyshop, they said no. I told them I would have my body shop contact them, they said that would not work either. They said I had to " FAX '' the invoice to them, I asked if I could email it to them and I was told that was not an option. I faxed the invoice to them on XXXX and included my account # ( XXXX ) so that they could notate the account and release the check. I contacted them today XXXX and they said the account doesn't show anything about receiving the fax. I was told they would look into it and contact me within XXXX. This has been dragging on for over a month and I need it taken care of. I don't see myself EVER leasing another vehicle, or doing ANY kind of business with U.S. Bank in the future. It's not like I'm trying to get them to send ME the check, I just want the bodyshop to be paid so I can pick up my truck. Attached is the fax confomation that was sent on XXXX to U.S. Bank

Issue: Problem getting a card or closing an account

Subissue: Don't want a card provided by your employer or the government

Consumer Complaint: I received a debit card from USBankreliacard. I understand this card is issued to provide unemployment benefits. I did NOT apply for unemployment benefits. Someone has used my identity to get unemployment benefits. I have tried to contact USBankReliacard to deactivate this card and I have been unable to talk with them. I understand this is a fraud situation and I would like to have some reasonable assistance in correcting this obvious government problem and how they distribute unemployment monies. Why would the government have a contract with a bank-in this case USBank who takes no responsibility for the products that have their name on it??? and why would the federal unemployment department set up a program that can be so easily compromised. I want some help to remedy this situation.

Issue: Problem with a purchase or transfer

Subissue: Card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase or transfer

Consumer Complaint: I am refiling complaint # : XXXX, originally filed on XX/XX/2020, as my complaint was not addressed or resolved by the response provided by US Bank Reliacard. My desired outcome : US Bank Reliacard communicates to me an exact date that I can withdraw the balance of my account. I am fully aware that US Bank Reliacard has daily withdrawal limits. I want to receive 3 EXACT dates that I can go to the bank to complete the maximum daily withdrawal to bring the account to a XXXX balance. As noted in prior complaint # XXXX, I have made many attempts with US Bank Reliacard to resolve/withdraw the balance of my account. As you can see in prior complaint # XXXX, US Bank Reliacard has given me dates to withdraw the account balance several times, and when I get to the bank, the transaction does not go through as promised by US Bank Reliacard.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not yours

Consumer Complaint: Hi and how are you? Listen, I've disputed this account before with Elan FInancial services and they removed it base on the errors and violations and that i don't owed the debt. How did you get this? Because, I was shocked when I reviewed my credit report this week and I found multiple inaccuracies on my credit report from the 3 major credit bureaus from a collection company that I never have dealt with before. I've attempted several times to ratify the issue with the original creditors and credit bureaus and they still reporting inaccurate, unverifiable information. I have disputed this item with the credit reporting agency and they reported you confirmed the account as valid. I honestly do not believe to ever have any relationship with this collection agency or original creditor. Also there are several inaccuracies with this account the way it's reporting and that's a total violation of FCRA and FDCPA laws and regulations. In a good faith effort to resolve the matter amicably, I must demand proof of this debt, specifically the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature, as well as proof of your authority in this matter. Absent such proof, you must correct any erroneous reports of this past debt as mine. I am writing to request that you please provide the following information : 1. Please evidence your authorization under 15 USC 1692 ( e ) and 15 USC 1692 ( f ) in this alleged matter. 2. What is your authorization of law for your collection of information? 3. What is your authorization of law for your collection of this alleged debt? 4. Please evidence your authorization to do business or operate in this state. 5. Please evidence proof of the alleged debt, including the alleged contract or other instrument bearing my signature. 6. Please provide a complete account history, including any charges added for collection activity. You have 30 days upon receipt of this letter to provide strict proof of contract. In the event you can not provide strict proof of contract, you must cease and desist any and all collection efforts and immediately remove any derogatory information reported to the consumer reporting agencies. In addition, you will need to provide me your agreement, in writing, that you are closing your file, ceasing collecting activity, and deleting all information related to this reference number from any and all credit reports youve furnished the information to. In the event you transfer this account to an attorney without providing proof of contract, and proving your claim, he/she will be immediate reported to the XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX for code of ethics violations.

Issue: Managing an account

Subissue: Problem using a debit or ATM card

Consumer Complaint: The ATM at XXXX off of XXXX XXXX and XXXX in XXXX, AZ XXXX has been down too many times to count with no one around to have it fixed. It seems like everytime I go it's broken or out of service. Today for example I get there I'm waiting in line with the bank closed and no supervisor or support there at all. There was a XXXX man banging on the machine with his fists with no one stoping him. I thought to myself where is the store manager or bank manager to stop this wreck less XXXX from destroying the ATM? When it was my turn to walk up to the ATM to do a simple transaction, it was out of service from the XXXX banging on it with no store supervision! I want to file a formal complaint. This location and mannor is unacceptable.

Issue: Unauthorized transactions or other transaction problem

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I have an unemployment benefit card from Texas government. I used those funds to purchase items online. Several merchants aren't real merchants. They don't answer emails on time, if at all, their sites for the most part have either disappeared or relocated and I can't get anyone on the phone at US Bank. I have been trying to call for at least 5 weeks. I have been on hold over 20 hours. Each time I have been transfered for disputes to report it within the timeframe required, not a single person has actually connected me or helped. This is UNEMPLOYMENT funds. So, if they can hold my money hostage, then, what recourse do I have? We are often told violence isn't the answer. I wholeheartedly disagree. Who do I need to actually talk to get my money back. I have no reason to lie. You can contact the shippers. NOTHING has been sent or received. US Bank is in a position to really help people, yet they resort to the same heartless schemes as XXXX and others.
