Issue: Trouble using the card

Consumer Complaint: My son sent me a Visa card for {$75.00} issued by US Bank. He purchased it at a Kroger store in Georgia on XX/XX/XXXX, the the store # is XXXX. I saved it till spring of this year, as I wanted to buy new lawn chairs. I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Mo. on XX/XX/XXXX and it was declined twice. As I researched, I found out other people have had the same problem. I called the number on the back of the card, and was told I had to go to their web site to register the card. As I filled out all the info, including Name, Address, Phone Number, and Drivers License. The web site just sat there and did nothing. I did this several times including calling. I had my daughter try, and she did several times and called, to no avail. I am at my wits end, as this is XXXX XXXX dollars. I am sure this is a scam, and hope this notification helps others in the future. How can US Bank/Kroger do this, and how can you help. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Trouble during payment process

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 my home in Arkansas had water damage from a burst pipe. The Insurance was contacted and the adjustors were out and made payment to the tune of {$150000.00}. As I had mortgage with US bank it was also listed as one of the payee. I opened up an account with US bank loss claims department and they released some funds to me initially and were supposed to release the rest of the funds when their inspectors were done with the inspection of the house. When I tried to schedule the inspection of the house US bank kept of asking me for more and more paper work even though I had submitted all of it and they were asking me paper work from the XXXX XXXX insurance company on which I had no control. I was exasperated and told them that if only I had the money I would pay off the loan and get them out of the picture, They at that point decided without my written or verbal permission to use the funds in my Escrow amount to pay off my Mortgage!!. These funds are supposed to paid to the contractors for the work they are doing. Now my mortgage is paid off without my permission using my insurance claim money which I am supposed to pay the contractors. I need to pay the contractors now {$38000.00} from my pocket which I do not have and US bank used this money given by XXXX XXXX to pay off my mortgage without my permission!

Consumer Complaint: Elan Financial Services is another creditor reporting inaccurate credit information. I had a scam against my credit card which put me over my limit. I paid the credit card bill as normal not knowing the creditor had increased my payment to cover the over the limit fee. The creditor accepted the payment for two months without notifying me what had happened. The money was recovered, but I was still held to not paying the over the limit even though I continued to make my monthly payments. I had never been past due before. I really feel I was treated unfairly. This was during Covid, and I realized many companies were understaffed. However, I dont think I should have this report against my credit without even notifying me until two months later. I have disputed the matter a couple of times, but I did not receive a response. The creditor put me in hardship per my request, and I continued to make payment less than I was making prior to this. However, they kept reporting that I was not making payment even though I was making the payment and they were accepting the payments. I also thought I read that a dispute response is supposed to be in writing. This account has been closed by creditior and I would like to OPT OUT of it being reported on my credit report. Consumer Complaint: I opened a US Bank XXXX XXXX account with promotion XXXX, which states as long as I deposit {$3000.00} of new money into the account, keep in the account until 60 days after account opening ( XX/XX/XXXX Opening ). As the attachments show, I opened the account on XX/XX/XXXX and deposited {$200.00} via credit card upon account opening ( new money ). I then transferred over {$2800.00} from my XXXX checking account. This totaled over {$3000.00} new money. I kept the money in the account until XX/XX/XXXX, which was well over the 60 days ( XX/XX/XXXX ). I called US Bank on XXXX, where I was told I would get the bonus within 10 days. I waited until XX/XX/XXXX and contacted again as 10 days had passed. I was told a case would be opened. This case has been opened since XX/XX/XXXX, or 19 days ago ( XX/XX/XXXX ). I met all the requirements, made multiple attempts to contact US Bank and no results. Furthermore, created the first CFPB claim on XX/XX/XXXX and US Bank states this will not offer the credit because I didn't register through their business login. As I shared with them I already had a personal login where the account showed up and wasn't told that I needed nor how to create a new business login for the account. I met all the financial requirements, but due to this poorly labeled requirement I was told I would not get the bonus. This is a mere technicality. I reached out to the person who responded to the complaint and she never got back to me. Therefore I am submitted another claim for the {$500.00} US Bank should be providing. I ask that they honor the bonus and allow this XXXX exception to a technicality that isnt very clear. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX, I went into US Banks downtown branch in XXXX, XXXX to close a joint checking account a XXXX overdraft protection reserve accounts associated with that account. When asked why I wanted to close those accounts, I stated that I was getting a divorce and no longer wished to have those accounts. The employee did not understand what the overdraft/reserve accounts were, so I explained and even brought up the last XXXX digits of each account on my phone to help. I also explained that the overdraft protection accounts each had {$10000.00} available to use. The employee was able to close the joint checking account and XXXX of the overdraft/reserve accounts. For some reason, she said the system would not let her close the other overdraft reserve account. She continued to try. She noticed that I also had another checking account with a {$2000.00} overdraft/reserve account that goes with it. On XXXX occasions during that bank visit, she asked if that was what I wanted to close and both times I emphatically stated that I wanted to keep the {$2000.00} overdraft protection account. The employee continued to to try and help with closing the other {$10000.00} by asking another employee and sending an email seeking help. She had no success, so she told me I would probably have to call US Bank customer service to get that completed. I think it was sometime in XX/XX/XXXX when I called US Bank and asked for that remaining overdraft/reserve account to be closed. The customer service rep. had to get a supervisor to do this, so finally that account was closed. I had also been noticing when I checked my account online that my {$2000.00} overdraft protection/reserve account did not seem to be appearing on my list of present accounts. I think it was XX/XX/XXXX that I went into the downtown US Bank branch in XXXX, XXXX to check to see if my {$2000.00} overdraft protection account still existed. I was told it did not! This was not the account I wanted closed, yet I believe it was just clicked away and closed that day in XXXX, even though I stated twice that I wanted to keep that. I asked if that could be restored. I was told I would have to reapply for that. So, I started that process with XXXX. She also told me that since my daughter is on my account, she would also have to apply. I supplied my financial information to XXXX, and then she said she would send me a link via email for my daughter to apply. The next day, XX/XX/XXXX I get an email from XXXX stating that it would be better to do a low interest credit card for overdraft protection. On XX/XX/XXXX I replied to XXXX and said that I didnt really want another credit card. I also asked if my account currently had any overdraft protection. She never responded. The fact that a USBank employee clicked away apart of my account that I cant seem to get back did not sit well with me and has grown more irritating over time. On XX/XX/XXXX I called US Bank customer service and spoke to XXXX and explained how my overdraft account had been clicked away during a bank visit and could I have it restored. XXXX seemed to check with a supervisor more than once during the phone call and tried to do everything she could to restore my overdraft protection account, but in the end she had to say it was not possible. I want the {$2000.00} overdraft protection back, just like I had before. The fact that an employee can click it away in an irreversible action is absolutely unacceptable! I should not have to reapply or be offered some other product that I do not want. US Bank is also remiss in sending paper notification of when an account is closed. I also closed a savings account with US Bank and that is the only paper notification I received about accounts being closed. I was only notified on paper for for XXXX out of XXXX closures. That is also unacceptable! I had to find out on my own, by going into the bank XX/XX/XXXX that my overdraft account not longer existed.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2023 US Bank sent a notice of default allowing me 30 days to either make partial payments for the past due interest of {$3600.00} or pay the whole sum. I made a {$470.00} payment XX/XX/2023. US Bank never applied this payment to my account. Debt collector XXXX sent a letter XX/XX/2023 requesting the full HELOC principal and interest of {$170000.00} be paid and stated the property my primary residence was being published in " Legal ledger '' on XXXX to be auctioned XX/XX/2023 by XXXX They postponed sale but now are auctioning themselves and not listed on XXXX for XX/XX/2023. Every time I call US Bank remote phone representatives working from home switch me from person to person for three hours logged on the phone. I've tried this more than four times over the past four months since XX/XX/2023. They are intentionally not sending the loss mitigation applications by mail or email. Dual tracking. One payment was missed in XX/XX/2023. In XXXX I explained the tripled monthly payment on the HELOC was supposed to have been fixed at the 3.25 % interest rate. Instead they increased it to 8 %. US Bank sold the copy of the note to a very aggressive debt collector who has home investors lined up to buy the property for just the amount of the HELOC third place loan {$170000.00} when property is worth {$460000.00}. XXXX XXXX created XXXX and XXXX XXXX, however he is operating the XXXX firm as a supposed trustee so he can foreclose and reap the equity in the house in a scandalous manner. He bought the copy of the note but not the mortgage for a few XXXX dollars from US Bank. US Bank has already charged it off on their accounting books. This HELOC was already sold into the market pooled as a heloc-backed security.

Consumer Complaint: YOU CLOSED MY PREVIOUS COMPLIANT THINKING IT WAS A COMPLAINT FROM XXXX THIS IS A NEW COMPLIANT! I sent a Cashier 's check with all appropriate paperwork on XX/XX/2023. I was very careful to send the payoff to the overnight lease address on the payoff paperwork. I have called US Bank 4 times to get an update as to why the account has not been paid in full and Title sent out. I have given them the person 's name and tracking number that signed for my overnight package. US bank won't confirm that person works there and doesn't know where the check is, all the while the account hasn't been paid off. I have asked for managers and have gotten nowhere. The indifference and gross negligence is why I am filing this compliant. I have a buyer for my vehicle who is now backing out because I can't get Title for a vehicle that I sent a payoff for almost 2 weeks ago.
