Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I had a military star credit card with XXXX while I was XXXX XXXX. When I separated, I experienced a financial hardship when I left my husband due to extreme circumstances. I started to get letters from XXXX XXXX XXXX in the mail. I immediately began attempting to contact them, and have never been successful. I have used their website to send messages, contacted them via e-mail, called by phone multiple times, even left voicemails with my name and phone number. I can prove all of this. Despite my efforts to make payment arrangements multiple times, my tax refund was garnished, which paid most of the debt. Now, XXXX is attempting to collect way more money than I actually owe. My statement with XXXX comes regularly, and as of today ( XX/XX/2019 ), it shows {$2900.00}. Yet, I got a letter from XXXX saying I owe {$3400.00}. This is absolutely unacceptable and a lie. Interest is already charged by the XXXX. I have read multiple complaints about XXXX taking far more money than owed by veterans. I, yet again, attempted contact via website message as well as phone and voicemail. Depsite this, I recieved a letter from my employer stating 15 % of my pay will be garnished starting next month. I am a full time working, XXXX XXXX XXXX, mother, XXXX, and a veteran of the US XXXX. I really feel that this company is out to get me and when I start losing 15 % of my pay, I will be in extreme financial hardship. I understand I owe the money, but I have been trying to pay it. I'm not sure what else I could possibly do. Someone PLEASE help me.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX to negotiate a lower interest rate on my student load after it had recently gone up again. They told me that they were only the servicer of the loan and that I must contact XXXX XXXX XXXX, who they said owned the loan, to speak about interest rates. I called XXXX XXXX XXXX and gave them my full name & SS # and they could not locate me in their files. Now I am wondering who I am paying and why my interest rate went up if nobody owns this loan.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I looked on my account in the end on XX/XX/XXXX when I got a email stating my score changed. I went on and found Transworld Systems ( TSI ) had put a supposed debt collection on my XXXX report. It stated the account was opened in XX/XX/XXXX although it didn't show on my report until XX/XX/XXXX. It shows it is some kind of medical debt although I have insurance and haven't been without insurance since I was a child. I also did not visit the doctor in XXXX other than an urgent care. The debt total is {$1000.00}. I find this interesting because some time ago my husband had a medical bill go into collection with them totaling {$1000.00}. Which was open on false pretenses. The bill was paid through charity care and should never have gone into collection in the first place. We also got some kind of letter from TSI. It was unclear what the name was as it had a XXXX and our last name, but didn't make up a full name. We just assumed they were trying again to get my husband to pay so we sent a letter with his info on XX/XX/XXXX through certified mail. The certified postcard was signed and sent on XX/XX/XXXX. We didn't even consider me as I hadn't been to the doctor and the debt total was the same as what they tried to collect from my husband. After it showed up on my report I sent a letter also on XX/XX/XXXX through certified mail also. The certified postcard was signed and sent on XX/XX/XXXX. The only thing I can come up with is TSI is trying to get their money they paid to purchase the debt, which we do not owe them and never did. We thought this was resolved after it was removed off my husbands report. But it shows now on mine. We contacted them and asked them to remove the debt but they have not sent anything back in response. It has now been 2 months and it is still on my report! I am also curious how did they get my information?! Please help us!

As you know when the recession happened auto dealers were going out of business left and right. I spent the better part of five pluse years between jobs and unemployment. This put me behind on my student loans. Now I read about XXXX and there dealings with you and all types of other articles about there ways of handling there borrowers. This concerns me as I have received several different phone calls from several different collections agencies and I dont rightfully know whom to trust in regards to setting up payments based upon what i have read. I need your guidance as to what my options are based upon your knowledge of XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2014 a judgement was made against me in the XXXX County Court of Common Pleas. The Collection Agency involved is XXXX XXXX XXXX, working on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The amount stated in the original Order was for {$23000.00} and is currently stated on a wage garnishment Order as being {$26000.00}. I felt it was strange that a wage garnishment would take effect five years after it went through a court system. I looked into XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and found that the CFPB had proposed it's own Consent Judgement against XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Currently, my wages are being garnished at 25 % and with the garnishment being decided three years prior to the CFPBs own opinion, I would like for the matter to be looked into by an outside source.

Issue: Getting a loan
Subissue: Fraudulent loan
Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I was attending school at XXXX Community College in XXXX, MN. I was having a financially tough year so I asked a co-signor to help me take out a private loan while I was attending school. I received the loan in the spring of XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$20000.00}, initially from XXXX XXXX XXXX, and then sold to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Later that year I had to drop out of school due to a medical condition and I struggled the next few years to keep up on payments after my loan came out of deferment. Over the course of a few years we were harassed by TransWorld collections and a couple other collection agencies as they changed hands. They demanded that we pay {$2500.00} down and $ XXXX monthly payments. I was a single mother of XXXX children at that time and made barely minimum wage and couldn't even afford to make ends meet regardless of this loan, so they began harassing my co-signor. We were unable to compromise with the company as they refused to take anything less than what was stated above even though we offered to pay what we could. In XX/XX/XXXX we were served with paperwork that we were being sued. Not being experienced with this or financially able to hire an attorney, we had no clue what we were facing at court and just showed up. We lost and were socked with a judgment in the amount of {$36000.00}. Over the past 5 years we have been paying on the loan faithfully and have gotten the loan amount down to {$34000.00} and some change. I felt at that we would never get out from under this loan and they judgment meant we would never be able to own property until that loan was paid off. I wanted to get some answers as to how a loan almost doubled in the course of 5 years and what our options were to take care of this as quickly as possible. It just didn't feel right. The summons that is currently on file with the courts states that we owed {$29000.00} in principal amount and over {$6000.00} in interest. I have asked the collection agency that we make our payments to if I could see the Master Promissory Note or original loan documents and they sent me a copy of the judgment. I called back and said that is not what I asked for and they state that they do not have either the MPN or original loan documents and didn't know who to ask. Next I called around and was told to ask the school I was attending if they could find that information. I called XXXX and they said the only loan information they had for me was Federal loans and not for that time period. I called XXXX ( where we make our payments ) and asked them what school they had on file for that loan and they stated is was made out of XXXX XXXX College. The only time I attended XXXX was in XX/XX/XXXX to get my XXXX licensure. I called the school anyway and they said they never certified a loan for me in that year, and for that matter they never would have certified a $ XXXX loan for a years schooling, and even today their max loan amount for yearly tuition is $ XXXX. I was then given the tip to try the courthouse and they may have original loan paperwork on file. I went to the district courthouse where the judgement was filed and began the process of looking through the file. The first thing I saw was an Affidavit of Lost Summons and Complaint. The file states that the Summons and Complaint that was served on myself and my co-signor was lost and the Plaintiff 's staff had exhausted their search for the original paperwork. There was also supposed to be a copy of the original loan documents as exhibit A which is also missing. I have been advised that XXXX is under scrutiny for these same practices that I described above in my case, and that all student loans made under XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX during a certain time period are to be audited for accuracy. Knowing this company is under a class action lawsuit for faulty and missing paperwork I would like my file reviewed as well. I believe the collection practices of this company were such as to not give us the opportunity to pay and force us into lawsuit and ultimately judgement. The pretenses of this loan were made in ill faith and I believe were predatory in nature.
