Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against TransUnion for repeated failures to conduct a reasonable reinvestigation into inaccuracies on my credit report, as mandated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I mailed a dispute letter to TransUnion, requesting an investigation into the following items : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and Bankruptcy Reference Number : XXXX. I also disputed incorrect names and addresses listed on my credit report. In an effort to verify my identity and address, I enclosed a copy of my photo ID, social security card, and a recent bill. Despite adhering to the FCRA 's dispute process, I received a response from TransUnion dated XX/XX/XXXX, stating : We recently received a request that included your information, but it didn't appear that you or a properly authorized third party sent it to us. We take the privacy and security of your data very seriously, so we won't process requests unless they come directly from you or an authorized third party. Subsequently, I submitted a follow-up dispute on XX/XX/XXXX, with no response from TransUnion. For the third time, I sent a dispute on XX/XX/XXXX and received an identical response, once again asserting that they did not receive a properly authorized request. This consistent denial of a reasonable investigation, as required by the FCRA, is a violation of my consumer rights. The Act mandates credit bureaus to conduct thorough reinvestigations when the accuracy or completeness of any item in a consumer 's file is disputed. I am submitting copies of my dispute letters, along with TransUnions responses, as evidence of my repeated attempts to correct inaccuracies on my credit report.
