Issue: Problem when making payments

Subissue: You never received your bill or did not know a payment was due

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2016 I called Target Red card accounting per their XXXX number provided and asked for the credit card accounts supervisor, I told her VERY SPECIFICALLY 3X that I would be leaving for XXXX on approx. XX/XX/2016 and I needed an EXACT ACCOUNTING of my Target card so I could pay the entire amount off as I would be gone 2 years without any way of receiving or paying any billis that would arrive after my departure. I was given a TOTAL ACCOUNTING of $ XXXXusd and paid that amount, in full, on XX/XX/2016. 2 months later I received notification from my XXXX credit score that my perfect credit score was now XXXX. After many calls and absolutely NO help from Target, I found out that my account had been billed for purchases in XX/XX/2016 that should've been known to Target 's accounting and billing department. Because of their ineptitude and failure to report an accurate accounting of my account, my credit score was damaged irreparably and created financial hardships for me and a tremendous amount of business problems. I had to wait 2.5 years to dispute my credit reports and send Target my complaint- which they summarily denied any responsibility. Target has since emailed me to say they had mailed a response to my demand for compensation but that was almost 2 months ago and no mail or email correspondence has been received. Target is responsible for destroying my 45 year perfect credit for a {$19.00} charge they should have accounted for- causing me financial hardship and business problems not to mention 3 years of terrible credit and the horrendous stress it has caused me trying to rehabilitate my credit and my good name.

Issue: Improper use of your report

Subissue: Credit inquiries on your report that you don't recognize

Consumer Complaint: I came into the dealership on XX/XX/2019 with the intention to buy a XXXX XXXX that day, and had a pre-approval from XXXX XXXX. I was introduced to the sales rep XXXX XXXX and I immediately explained to him what I wanted, that I had also been pre-approved by XXXX for a 3.99 % rate, and that I did not want to put one penny down. He said sure, they could roll everything in, and showed me a car that met my needs and had me fill out a credit application on their computer. I again, let XXXX know I had a pre-approval from XXXX. He assured me this was the process. Needless to say I met with the finance guy next and he tried to get me to sign documents that said i was paying an 8 % interest rate and it was from another bank. I let him know of this error and he acted surprised then finally came back with 3.9 % rate from XXXX XXXX. After coming home with the car I have found my credit was pulled by over 5 banks ( XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, TD Auto Finance , XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) without my permission. These hard inquiries cost me a credit line already and have lowered my credit score. I am also very upset they have shared my credit history and personal information with other banks without my permission. I have tried in good faith to work with the dealership to have them removed but they are combative and show zero empathy for my situation. I have attached one of the emails I have sent, the credit application explanation I saw when authorizing the credit pull, and my pre-approval letter which I had showed the sales rep.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Charged too much interest

Consumer Complaint: I have had my credit cards for many years with TD now, and have had excellent payment and credit history. I called customer service today to ask if I could be considered for a lower rate on my cards and was told that the current rate is the rate I qualify for and there was no one else I could speak to. I asked if he ran my credit to make that statement and he told me he did not. I explained to him that my credit has improved since i first got the cards years ago, but he still offered no assistance. I have banked with other banks and this is a common practice-to review a longstanding customer for consideration of a rate reduction. I would hate to move my business to other banks just because you would not consider me for a rate reduction, as I have already been offered lower rates to transfer my balance to other banks, but I declined.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for a line of credit with XXXX XXXX to buy a new phone for my wife for XX/XX/XXXX. Upon applying for the credit line and being approved my order was successfully placed for {$520.00}. The following morning I woke up to an e-mail stating that I had NOT been approved for the line of credit and that XXXX was canceling my order. I didn't think much about it until I received a letter a few days later congratulating me about the credit line I was approved for, but to my surprise, the charge for the phone was still showing on the credit card despite the order being canceled and I never received the phone. I tried calling T.D. Bank ( the bank who manages XXXX XXXX ) and after 2 hours and a conference call to XXXX XXXX to remove the balance for a product I didn't get, neither company was willing to remove the charge. XXXX told T.D. Bank that it wasn't their problem and that they canceled the order, but T.D. Bank said that they can't cancel charges from XXXX. At this point, I owe a balance on a line of credit for a product I never received and it has been 20 days since the transaction was supposedly canceled. T.D. Bank even heard XXXX say that they canceled the order and that the charge should not be there. Please help me get some resolution on this before it destroys my credit. Additionally, I truly feel like T.D. Bank/XXXX XXXX was very deceptive with the advertising of this credit line and it feels like they just hooked me into applying for the credit line only to cancel the order after the approval went through. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Issue: Closing your account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern : I have had a TD bank credit card since XXXX as I am told by them. I do not personally remember when I opened the account. It had a XXXX limit. I have been a member of TD bank and currently have other credit cards of theirs for years, since back when TD bank was XXXX XXXX. I have good credit and have never had delinquency issues with TD bank and have an excellent payment history. I had a credit card with them that I did not use for a period of time so I received a letter from TD bank in XX/XX/XXXX saying that if I did not use the card they would cancel the card on me. So since I did not want to lose this card I decided to start using it. I proceeded to use the card for 2 months charging over 800.00 on the card. The card was set to expire in XX/XX/XXXX and I thought I would get a new card in the mail since I proceeded to use the card and pay 2 monthly statements. I called up TD Bank and asked them when I would receive my next card. TD bank told me that they canceled the card and would NOT send me a new card due to inactivity. I told them I was using it and they knew I was using it! They still said that since it wasn't used for a period of time they were canceling it on me. My question is why did they send me the notice letter if they were cancelling me anyway!!? I felt robbed out of XXXX because I would not have used it but for the notice letter I received. But it isn't about the money but the fact that they canceled my credit card period, my revolving line of credit. TD told me I could reapply if I wanted to, knowing that that would cause a pull on my credit just so they could deny me or give me a lower limit! I feel robbed because I did what I was supposed to by using the card and paying 2 month 's statements. They should have done what they said and allowed me to keep the card open. I also called TD later to ask them to withdraw my wife as an authorized user and they told me I couldn't because the card was in canceled status. I lost my points also on anything that I bought. This is not right and I am formally requesting a complaint against TD credit card services and bank. I want my credit card opened up again, not only for use if needed but also so I can remove my wife from the account, so she isn't strapped down with debt that is mine.

Issue: Opening an account

Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised

Consumer Complaint: TD Bank branch informed me if I opened a checking account on-line and met several requirements, I would receive a {$300.00} bonus. The requirements were to have a direct deposit and have deposits over {$5000.00} within 90 days. I opened the account online on XX/XX/2019 and met the direct deposit requirements. I called the TD Bank customer service dept. immediately after I opened the account to ensure I did everything correctly. After 90 days I called the customer service asking where my {$300.00} bonus was and they said it can take up to 125 days. I called at 125 days and they said someone would get back to me in 48-72 hrs. After a week with no contact, I again called and they said someone would get back to me. After no contact I called again today they said I was denied the {$300.00} even though I met all the criteria for the offer. The customer service representative said that the response they received from the promotions department indicated that I failed to click a link when opening the account which disqualified me for the offer. I informed her that I did what ever the offer on their website instructed me to do and then followed up with a telcall to ensure I did the correct thing. I asked for a supervisor who then changed the story and said that their promotions department said there was no {$300.00} promotion at the time I applied. This is completely wrong since how would I know the details of what to do if there was not an offer. I think they are running a scam to get new accounts. I am so glad that I didn't move all of my accounts to TD Bank and tested if first.

Issue: Closing on a mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I contacted XXXX XXXX TD Bank Mortgage XX/XX/19 asking for a copy of the stock lease and certificated. XX/XX/19 the bank supplied a copy which should have been identical to that of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX but had deleted the apartment number and added a stamp for assignment and transfer. I have asked TD Bank to supply a copy matching XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with the apartment number and they had replied that they have no such copy even in their vault. I would like the copy from TD Bank which must match that from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Should the bank be unable to supply these documents, I would like an explanation.
