Consumer Complaint: I do almost all my shopping online these stores debit the amount for what you order immediately sometimes what you order is not available and sometimes what you order comes damaged therefore for both of these situations the stores issue a refund for the items I was charged for that they did not have or for items I get shipped to me that are damaged or sometimes not there in my order at all I have my checking acct with TD bank but for the last 2 to 3 months everytime I have what should be a refund TD bank always debits it from my acct when first of all I already paid for it once and now Im being charged or debited a 2 nd time for what is supposed to be a refund. I have to call TD bank everytime for them to correct it. Why is this happening and its not just with one or 2 places or stores.. its with every store I order from therefore the problem is TD bank its not numerous stores.. its TD bank and I also wonder how much money TD bank has done this to me with, that I did not notice. This is very concerning. I have called about this issue numerous times hoping it will be the last time but then within a few days to a week at most, it happens again and again and., Today was the last straw. I need to know why and that it wont happen anymore.

Consumer Complaint: My payment was due right after a federal holiday. The bank immediately charged me a {$41.00} late fee on the same day as the payment due date. The bank also has different policies with respect to payment cut off times. If you call to make a phone payment by phone or online it has to be received by XXXX for it to post the same day and if you pay in the store you have until the store closes to make a payment for it to post the same day. The bank should have until XXXXXXXX XXXX on the day of the payment due date to make a payment online or by phone and not early cut off time. I think that this is set at this time so that they can receive the money the very next day from the customer 's bank. The bank did not even notify me by e-mail that the payment had not been received until XX/XX/XXXX because of the holiday even though the bank uses automated systems including automatically assessing late fees on the same day as the payment due date. The bank should not be immediately ( as soon as the same day ) assessing late fees on a customer 's account. As the CFPB points out and concluded in a report from XXXX of XXXX " that the credit card market continues to rely on late fees that negatively affect missions of consumers. For some households, late fees are a costly mistake for payments that may only be a day or two late ; for others, they are significant added hardship during a time of financial precarity. For credit card companies, especially private label and subprime specialist issuers, late fee continues to bolster their bottom line. ''

Consumer Complaint: A deposit was made to TD Bank with a check drawn on XXXX XXXX XXXX. The check was returned in error- with XXXX taking responsibility. The check was redeposited, and we were advised it would clear in 1 day ( We were not provided with a receipt showing the length of the hold ). Two days later, it was not cleared. I phoned TD Bank and explained what happened - I was advised the hold would be released in 20 minutes - maybe a bit longer. I waited 2 hours and went to a TD Bank branch to make a wire transfer - the hold was still in place. The TD Rep made some calls and re-entered a request to release the hold. Now I was told it would be REVIEWED within 2 to 24 hours. Because XXXX incorrectly returned a check, TD Bank returned an ACH debit from XXXX. I promised XXXX I would wire the funds today based on the initial information supplied to me by TD Bank. I called TD Bank again, and all I got were apologies and explanations. They were unwilling/unable to rectify the hold on my account based on the information they provided. The employees either don't know their policies or serving their customers is not a top priority.

The consumer credit transaction involved a finance charge. 15 USC 1605 defines a finance charge as the sum of all charges in a consumer credit transaction. Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I locked my TD XXXX credit card in XXXX or XXXX because it was impossible to cancel the card without a phone call to their sales reps. Recently I began receiving letters from TD Card Services indicating that I have a charge and am accruing interest and late fees. I called XXXX to clear this up and dispute any charges. During that call I was told that there was a charge from XXXX. I don't know where this transaction came from and I did not authorize it. However, the XXXX number is only a payment number. They can't handle disputes. The number the rep gave me is the same XXXX number and I can't get a hold of anyone to remove this charge. The other number on their website ( XXXX ) doesn't even work. There is no way to dispute charges online. I believe TD Card Services makes the cancelling of cards and dispute resolution deliberately difficult just so they can continue to charge exorbitant fees. I'm asking for the CFPB 's help in removing any charges and fees from this card and cancelling it.
