Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX charged a late fee to my account for XXXX of this year because my payment came late. I called and asked if I could have the fee removed. The person I spoke with said they noted it and that the fee will be removed and reflected in the XXXX bill. The paper bill I received had showed a minimum amount that reflected the fee still there as well as my XXXX payment having not been received. I knew this was incorrect, and their website doesn't pull up on my computer and I've been trying to register for an online account since I opened the account over two years ago at this point. So I called customer service to get the actual minimum for the XXXX bill. I was quoted a number that clearly reflected the late fee from XXXX I was told would be removed. The person on the phone insulted my intelligence by saying the person you spoke with earlier misspoke and said they remove the fee from my total balance after I pay it. How is it a fee removal if the fee is " removed '' after I give you money for the fee. I don't appreciate being lied to nor condescended. I then called back and asked about the dispute process and was pointed to their web page that customers are expected to print out, fill out, and then send snail mail to some address in South Carolina. This is from a company that on their online portals and every paper bill encourages us to go paperless with their " XXXX '' website that has not allowed me to register for it since I've opened this account. This leads me to believe the dispute process is a formality, farce, and nothing they actually take seriously. I want to dispute the fee and I want it removed from my due balance immediately like I was told it would have been.

Consumer Complaint: TD Auto Finance charged off my account XXXX of XXXX. They refused to accept payments and told me if I was not able to pay XXXX in one lump sump I would have to wait until the account is sent to collections. They stated this is their policy and they can not do anything to assist. They updated my account ever month after the charge off with late payment and added interest to my account. the current balance on my credit as of XX/XX/XXXX is XXXX, XXXX. TD Auto has never sent a statement the charge off dates but it was continue activity on the account even when it was place in collections. The balance with the collection company is {$7300.00}. TD Auto Finance is not reflecting this amount or the payments I have made on my credit report. If they are activity reporting, they need to prove statements when interest is added. They are not doing this at all. I contacted TD Auto Finance and they informed me they are reporting correctly. This information is not correct because they will not accept any payment from me, but mark my account as a late payment every since month. This has hurt my credit tremendously. I tried to be proactive and ask TD Auto Finance if I can may payments or even get a new loan and roll the balance into the new loan. All my attempts were denied.

Consumer Complaint: I set up autopay when I created the account, and paid on time for a full year. Recently, I received a letter stating that I had a past due balance and a late fee. I called to find out what the problem was, and found out that they turn off autopay if you pay your balance, which is not how autopay normally works, and I was not notified that autopay was turned off. I paid the remaining balance and was told that the account would be closed they would remove the late fee. However, they kept sending statements and reporting that I was late. I disputed the fees and was denied.

Consumer Complaint: To whom it may concern, On XX/XX/XXXX I opened an Checking Account at TD Bank N.A ( US Account ). I received an email asking to contact them to process the Debit Card. In the same day I called them, and they confirm that the Debit card would be sent to my mail address. I got access to the online banking, to the App and everything was set up. I received a transfer as well that was properly deposited in my account. One week later, I tried to deposit two cheques that I received from the University as refund for travel expenses. They send me 2 cheques with the same amount of {$170000.00}. I knew one of them probably was not valid due to the duplication but since I didn't know which one, I deposit both. One on XX/XX/XXXX at night and the second on XX/XX/XXXX in the morning. I was expecting that probably one cheque would bounced but the other one would be deposited, however I didn't know which of them. After that both cheques were put on hold by TD Bank for further evaluation. After few days, as expected, one cheque was bounced. However instead of depositing the second cheque, TD Bank just closed my account without any further notice. In the mean time, the bank had already approved my credit card with XXXX limit, which for me means that there was no problem in my credit score and history. After this unpleasant situation I called the TD bank to verify the reason for closing my account. For my surprise, they said they can not inform me the reason! The only information I got is that the account is closed and the amount will be sent by cheque to my mail address including the amount of the second cheque AFTER the processing time for the cheque that still on hold. And the whole process can take up to 30 days. In summary, TD bank closed my account with no pertinent reason, without any notice and is holding my cheque and residual checking balance. My major concern is not only about getting my money back but actually, the impact of this on the next bank account I will try to open. I am a XX/XX/XXXX, relocating from XXXX to XXXX, and I obviously I will need a good bank account to deal with significant income amount every month, as well to build my credit score for the mortgage. The only possible reason that come to my mind, since the back said that they " can not inform me the reason '', is : Maybe TD bank suspected fraud about the duplicated cheques (? ) and for " security '' reason they blocked and closed the account? If this is the reason, would be more reasonable call me or called XXXX XXXX XXXX to verify the authenticity of the cheque instead of harming the account owner? This is just unacceptable and extremely humiliating.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a complaint regarding an inaccurate late payment reporting on my credit reports by TD Bank. Specifically, TD Bank is reporting a 30-day late payment on my car loan in XX/XX/XXXX, which is not accurate. I have never been late on this account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I made a payment of {$390.00} to TD Bank for my car loan. However, the next statement generated by TD Bank showed a payment of {$390.00} was due on XX/XX/XXXX. I did a trade-in of my vehicle, a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, in which the dealership was supposed to pay the payoff amount to TD Bank. Therefore, this late payment is not reporting accurately, as the payment to TD Bank was the responsibility of the dealership, not me. I drove off with a new car on XX/XX/XXXX. I have attached supporting documentation, including the statement from TD Bank showing the payment of {$390.00} I made towards the car note on XX/XX/XXXX, the statement from TD Bank showing a payment of {$390.00} due on XX/XX/XXXX, and the sales contract for the new car, dated XX/XX/XXXX, which includes additional details regarding the vehicle trade-in.

Consumer Complaint: I attempted to use my TD bank Visa Debit card as I usually do on Monday XX/XX/23 but each transaction was denied/declined.I could not withdraw money on my Checking account which is a Direct Deposit account for my Social Security account disbursements.I contacted the bank and they alleged that some unidentified party had made a charge on my account in the amount of {$190.00} and that they had attempted to contact me.I was curious to know how they ( TD bank ) new of a discrepancy in the charge without my telling them to conclude that my account should be put on hold..They had access to my Cell phone and my email address and did not attempt to contact me to my knowledge. My previous experience with them indicates to me that they would not give me that type of accommodation in their servicing of my account. TD Bank insisted upon deactivating my debit card without giving me Legal notice resulting in significant detriment to my account and financial situation.I notified Customer service after being informed of the discrepancy by them and told them that I would be visiting the Bank 's branch office in the XXXX at XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX and was told by them that I would have no trouble getting a new Debit card.I met with the Manager " XXXX to get the card but he refused to give me the card, saying that they could not verify my account through my cell phone and alleged that he would mail one to me instead. This whole tenuous situation could have been avoided if TD Bank would have adhered to proper Banking Notice requirements.

Consumer Complaint: Received a letter indicating that a request to change address was submitted in XX/XX/2023. I called and after being transferred numerous times was able to tell them i did not apply for this card and did not change the address for a card i did not apply for. The card was determined to have been used to purchase items through XXXX. I initiated fraud report several times and have had them denied. Filed a report at Identitytheft.gov and submitted this information along with most recent claim which was again denied. The report indicates i signed for items at an address i do not live at nor haveI ever lived at. They claimed i signed a sales receipt which was not included. TD bank has not completed a thorough investigation and are punishing me for being the victim of identity theft. I had also frozen my credit accounts and successfully cleared a bank account and loan application that was started with another bank and which TD bank completely ignored.
