Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Synchrony Bank closed my account without notification and the reasons that they used to close my account would generally apply to someone opening a new line of credit. They claimed that because my debt was high on my other cards and a lack of first mortgage information was the reasons for closing my account. I had not used the card in several months due to the fact that the closest store where the card could be used is in Delaware and I live 2 hours+ XXXX of that location in XXXX. I asked them to reopen the account and they said that I could reapply for a new account, but they can't reopen my old account, which had a {$3500.00} credit limit. They also claimed that they were not in control of the decision to close the account and that it was due to the XXXX credit report they received and the score they used was 4 months old in XXXX. During that time, I was in the process of purchasing a home, which is why the debts on my other cards are significant. If this is going to negatively affect my credit score, then they have impacted not only a financial future, but also my credit utilization rate and everything else associated with it. I am also still recovering from filing a bankruptcy 4 years ago and having another negative mark like this is not going to help matters. The only notification I received was on XX/XX/23 telling me that the account had been closed on XX/XX/23.

Consumer Complaint: Care Credit offered a 0 % interest rate for all amounts paid in full at the end of 6 months. Twice I took advantage of this offer. Both times, I was told that because I didn't make monthly payments, I owed interest. I explained that the program was explained to me that as long as the entire balance was paid off by the end of the 6 months, there would be no interest accrued. The company did correct the issue and refunded the interest payments. However, in XX/XX/2023 they closed my account " after reviewing my credit information. '' At this point, I had never missed a payment, had paid this account in full- the same goes for my Lowe 's Synchrony account. They arbitrarily closed my account to retaliate against me because I filed a complaint against the Synchrony Amazon Card. The Synchrony Amazon card has been closed for over a year, but continues to charge me fees and interest, despite the account being closed and not being used - and having been paid off in full. Synchrony Bank is being predatory and I had two accounts in 100 % good standing with them - CareCredit and Lowe 's, but they closed my CareCredit for no reason. These two accounts have always been paid on time. These are predatory and retaliatory lending practices. All debts on my credit report are related to civil litigation and are not my responsibility. I am in the process of securing a lawyer to have them removed. Please ask Synchrony Bank to explain their actions against my Care Credit account which has always been in good standing/

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XXXX XXXX I changed my name to match my IRS records with PayPal from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX. As a result and without notice, PayPal closed my Savings account. I had a balance on the savings account in the amount of {$320000.00} plus a pending transaction of {$440.00} ( Transaction ID XXXX ) going to the now closed savings account. The {$320000.00} was returned to the Paypal balance, but at this time the {$440.00} pending transaction has not been returned. In addition to this, PayPal informed me that I would not be receiving any interest for the 10 days of the month of XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX ) as a matter of policy. I feel extremely sadden and disappointed by this as no notice was given and now I can't even withdraw my funds out of PayPal to my bank account. PayPal also let me know I could open a new savings account within 3 business days.

Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Charged too much interest
Consumer Complaint: My statement dated XX/XX/XXXX stated that my minimum payment due was {$92.00} and I needed to pay {$200.00} to avoid paying interest on my PayPal Credit balance by XX/XX/XXXX. I paid {$92.00} on XX/XX/XXXX and I paid {$200.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. The {$200.00} should have been applied to XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$81.00}, which consisted of 2 late fees at {$40.00} each plus interest, and to a No Interest If Paid in Full charge in the amount of {$120.00}, consisting of the remainder of a deferred interest promotion plus interest. Instead, the {$200.00} payment was applied to another deferred interest purchase, which was not due until XX/XX/XXXX. When I paid my next bill, I paid the remainder shown on that deferred interest purchase, in the amount of XXXX, as shown on the PayPal credit website, unaware that my previous payment had not been allocated correctly the previous month. This confusion caused me to unknowingly carry a balance and accrue more interest under " standard purchases ''. I had signed up for paperless billing and detailed statements were not available to me to understand how I was being billed. My statements on their website would not even upload. It was not until I had paper statements sent to me after calling to inquire why my balance was listed as higher than what I owed on a deferred interest charge that I was able to figure out, with much difficulty, what had happened. I filed a complaint with the XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX about their hidden statements on their website, and have not yet received a response from the company. On XX/XX/XXXX, after receiving the paper statements, I called and requested that the interest I have been charged because of their misallocation be subtracted from my bill. They said they could only subtract one month 's interest. I said this was not satisfactory. They continued to claim that the interest charges were valid and hung up on me.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: When I pay a minimum payment on Synchrony Bank Care Credit they apply that to the NEXT month 's promotion that is due, not the one that is expiring within a week. If you want that payment applied to the promotion that is expiring in a week as opposed to the next month they won't do it as a matter of course. Rather the credit card holder has to contact them and request the payment be applied to the payment due. For example when a payment is made on the due date of XXXX, Synchrony will apply the XXXX payment to a promotion expirig on XX/XX/10 ( the next month ) leaving the XX/XX/10 promotion due and subject to interest on the ENTIRE original purchase amount. This practice is deceptive and a clear way they are trying to trick consumers in to paying interest on a payment promotion that they were intending to pay off with the payment they just made. This company should correct this sneaky practice and as a matter of standard practice apply the payment to the closest promotional due date. It seems like what they are doing really should be illegal if it isn't already it's clearly a way to try and trick the consumer who thinks they paid off a promotional balance.
