Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally dispute the presence of a debt on my credit report, which has been reported by a third-party collection agency listed on my report. I would like to clarify that I do not have any contractual agreement with the said collection agency, and therefore, I am not responsible for the alleged debt they are attempting to collect. It is my understanding that the collection agency acquired this debt for a significantly reduced amount, often referred to as " pennies on the dollar. '' In doing so, they assumed the risk associated with the lack of a signed contract from me, the consumer. I believe it is unjust that I am being penalized for a debt that I do not owe, and it is negatively impacting my creditworthiness. I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and remove the disputed item from my credit report. As per the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), it is your obligation to ensure the accuracy of the information you report. In this case, the inclusion of the alleged debt is inaccurate and misleading, as I have never entered into any contractual agreement with the collection agency. Furthermore, I have taken the liberty of cc'ing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) and the Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) to assist in the resolution of this matter. I have been struggling with this issue since 2017, and despite my efforts, I have not been able to find a satisfactory solution. The negative impact caused by this inaccurate information being reported on my credit report is affecting my financial opportunities and overall well-being. I urge you to take prompt action in investigating this dispute and rectifying the inaccuracies on my credit report. I expect to receive a written response from your office within the legally mandated 30-day period, informing me of the actions taken to address this matter. Thank you for your attention to this dispute. I trust that you will handle this matter with the utmost professionalism and urgency it deserves. Sincerely,

Consumer Complaint: The first email I received explained that if I logged in to the portal, it would activate a new account and this very old acct would become new on my credit... So I never clicked on an attachment or respond. Everyday since, I get one to two emails... This company never misses a day. I've blocked and reported it as spam but they do not stop. Then I would just simply delete the emails but now I just leave them. I have over a hundred emails as proof.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to dispute an account that was opened without my knowledge or consent. The account in question, held by LVNV Funding LLC, was allegedly opened by an ex-girlfriend I dated 10 years ago. I have no affiliation or agreement with LVNV Funding LLC or Prosper Funding, the original creditor. This unauthorized account has had severe negative consequences on my creditworthiness, leading to credit denials and difficulties in securing residency. I believe this account 's presence on my credit report violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) and its provisions on accuracy and fair reporting. I have already contacted LVNV Funding LLC to dispute the account directly and informed them of my status as a victim of identity theft. Despite my repeated efforts to dispute the account, they have continued to report it as valid, disregarding my claims.
