Consumer Complaint: Nelnet has drawn from the incorrect checking account multiple times now, causing that amount to be overdrawn multiple times. I logged into my account and made sure it is set to draw from the correct checking account, but they keep drawing from the wrong one anyway. I tried to call in, and I was on hold for over two hours before I had to give up and move onto other tasks. I tried to fill out their email form, which took time and sensitive information. After taking the time to fill it all out and give them ample detail regarding the situation, they sent an auto reply to my email saying they are unable to respond because they are too busy. They are wholly unreachable and irresponsible.

Consumer Complaint: Nelnet is my federal student loan servicer, and they have been nothing but issues from the start. I was transferred from Great Lakes to Nelnet for my federal student loans. In XXXX of 2023, I signed up to be placed on the SAVE plan during their beta period. Nelnet then chose for me what my plan would be based on " the lowest payment per month. '' I wanted to be put on the SAVE plan and they DID NOT place me on the SAVE plan but instead placed me on the PAYE plan and it doubled what my monthly payments would be. I simply can not afford this and can not get someone on the phone line in order to correct this. Now I have a past due payment that I can not afford and another payment upcoming in one week that I also can not afford.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX a request for validation was sent to nelnet. I have no contact with this lender and they have been unable to validate an agreement. Secondly, a bill was sent to my consumer residence in which a response was sent via certified mail in within a 15 day period. Without proof of obligation, an attempt to discharge debt with negotiable instrument has been was denied for the month of XXXX A second payment was sent for XXXX. A response is awaiting but the attached letter was received thereafter. The denial for an acceptable payment is a violation of 31 CFR 328.5.

Consumer Complaint: I have sent over 10 emails after my request to change my repayment plan was denied for re-evaluation in the next 13 months. I can't afford my payment and I don't understand where they are getting their numbers from. I have sent emails and waited on hold for over 3 hours weekly in an attempt to speak with someone and I can't get a reply. They told my my payment would be less than {$200.00} if I added a checking account to the auto pay plan and then they over-drafted my account $ XXXX when the first bill was due. I had to go through my bank to get the money back just to afford basic food and bills for the rest of the month. Very shady that I can not get in contact with anyone there. Not a reputable company and I will not be making a payment until someone corrects this. I will continue to email daily until they reply.

Consumer Complaint: Since the end of XX/XX/2023, my wife and I have attempted to contact Nelnet numerous times, with their hours changing without notice from what was advertised, regarding the payments for our student loans. We can not afford the payments that Nelnet is attempting to collect and we were under the impression that any IDR plans or applications would be transferred to Nelnet from Great Lakes. Today, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, we got someone on the phone after being on hold for XXXX hours, got through, and were placed on hold for over half an hour thus far with no additional communication. You can look at an umpteenth amount of posts from borrowers spanning from XXXX to XXXX that have been trying to get payments settled in vain. We have a child that we are expecting in the coming months and Nelnet 's lack of transparency, communication, and downright thievery of government funds has caused undue stress on our growing family.

Consumer Complaint: This provider switched in XXXX and automatically wouldnt allow monthly payments to go through without interest. As I continued to pay them they didnt deduct the full amount I was paying off my total debt. This happened repeatedly every month my total would not reflect the amount paid. On XX/XX/XXXX my loan transferred from GreatLakes to Nelnet as the new servicer. Upon transfer they wouldnt set up my account on time to make my XXXX payment on time. When they finally got the information transferred they had the initial total correct as {$20000.00}. After XXXX and XXXX payments I should have a total of {$19000.00} remaining balance upon transfer at Nelnet less {$350.00} XXXX payment for a new total of {$19000.00}. My total however is {$19000.00}. I think this is going to continue to happen as its hard to get things fixed there. XXXX after XXXX $ XXXX payment. Consumer Complaint: Nelnet has had my autopay set up for several years now, and suddenly it seems to have ceased working. My XX/XX/2023 autopay went through, I can see my XX/XX/2023 autopay is scheduled, and yet they're telling me today that I am past due for XX/XX/2023 despite Nelnet having made no attempt to auto debit from my usual checking account. This has a negative impact on the consumer because now the only way I can help myself, without waiting on the phone for an unpredictable number of hours only to have the call dropped, is to make a second payment in XXXX and just wait to see if they still deduct my scheduled payment, or to just skip XXXX entirely and see if the XXXX payment works as it should. Nelnet only stands to benefit - either they get double their owed payment, or twice the interest they should have gotten in XXXX. Either their pending payment record is broken, their past due notification system is broken, or their auto pay function is broken. All three are serious issues, especially since they offer a discount for using auto debit.

Consumer Complaint: In response to claim number XXXX Nelnet employee ( XXXX ) provided false, deceptive and misleading information regarding the signature because what theyve shown is not my signature nor did they produce any contracts that Binds me to any obligations. Nelnet employees bought the fraudulent created debt from Great Lakes now theyre saying that I as the XXXX XXXX XXXX whos not identified as persons owes them for fraudulent debts that they created. Employees at consumer financial protection bureau will be witnesses to the criminality taking place pursuant to 42 United States Code 1986 and to produce evidence they took regarding action for neglect to prevent further fraud from occurring. I have evidence which proves all debts and mortgages are created from fraudulent transactions and activities. How much did Nelnet buy debts from Great Lakes for vice versa? Produce the contracts between Nelnet, Greak Lakes, insurance companies, investors, United States Department of Education and the Owners of these Entities? Produce the tax documents filed on the alleged debts and reports made to the securities exchange commission along with all securities licenses to create financial documents?
