Consumer Complaint: My concern is that I was recently informed by Nelnet that I do not qualify for the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program. I have been a XXXX XXXX for 10 years beginning in XX/XX/XXXX, and therefore have made over 10 years worth of student loan payments to Nelnet. I consolidated my student loans in XX/XX/XXXX when I graduated from XXXX XXXX. I was told that I do not have the right type of loans to qualify for the forgiveness program. This comes after YEARS of understanding that I would qualify for the program. Nelnet has recently indicated that the only way for me to qualify for the forgiveness program is to re-consolidate my student loans and make 10 more years of payments since none of my previous payments would qualify. I feel like Nelnet and the Federal Government has mislead me with an understanding that I would qualify for the forgiveness program. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: Ive been working for a not-for-profit for over 5 years. Ive been paying my student loans on time, every time. At the time my loans were owned by Nelnet. When my monthly payment was being calculated for XX/XX/XXXX, they were done so incorrectly. I was not aware that this was the case until a later date. When I found out, I made a payment of over {$3000.00} to account for my inaccurate payments. In XX/XX/XXXX, I officially signed up for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and my loans were transferred to XXXX XXXX. I began making my monthly payments to them. During this period, my payments were assessed for which payments counted as qualifying payments to be forgiven. What I have discovered recently, as confirmed with XXXX XXXX, is that not all of my payments were counted as qualifying. This is due to the miscalculation by Nelnet, in addition, they put me on a Forbearance and to my dismay, they did not inform me. As a result, 3 years worth of payments were not counted and my forgiveness date has been pushed out from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: Nelnet is showing 24 missed payments from 2015. I first asked them why I was never notified of th miss payments by mail they said theyre not required too. Then I explained to them that I was enrolled in school and I sent over verification on serveal occasions. The late payments have never been removed from my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: Re : Over payment on refinancing On XXXX XXXX, 2017 I refinanced my student loans with XXXX and they paid Nelnet {$69000.00}. This is an over payment of {$930.00} of the last principal balance from XXXX XXXX, 2017. I called today and was told that the over payment went towards the loan I still currently house with them. Upon adding the numbers that was applied to that laon the total is {$530.00} a difference of {$400.00}. Now, I understand there was 6 days between the last principle amount date ( of my last payment ) and XX/XX/XXXX to when XXXX paid you for the loans and during that time interest had accrued however I know that {$400.00} of interest had not accrued during 6 days. So where has the missing money gone? and it makes me wonder if anyone else has had this happen to them and have not known about it. It also makes me wonder how accurate all the other books are if they cant tell me where a missing {$400.00} has gone.

Consumer Complaint: I refinanced my student loans with Nelnet. They keep asking me to go into forbearance when I have trouble getting work. My direct consolidated loans are = {$68000.00} Direct Subsidized A {$32000.00} and B {$35000.00}. Part of my now {$81000.00} loan has become so high with {$11000.00} in capitalized interest and {$1100.00} in accrued interest amounting to {$12000.00} in total interest is triple the amount of interest I should have paid on loans with a 6.25 % interest rate, which should have been only {$4200.00}. Nelnet told me there 's no way to stop paying such high interest and the interest is at least {$400.00} per month alone. I feel underwater and trapped with the amount the loan keeps climbing and need help.

Consumer Complaint: I contacted XXXX and informed them that they were improperly reporting student loans that do not belong to me from Nelnet/DEPTED on my credit report on XX/XX/XXXX, via U.S. Certified mail. I was notified from the U.S. postal service that XXXX received my letter requesting to remove the incorrect accounts from Nelnet/DEPTED on XX/XX/XXXX. I requested to have these accounts deleted from my credit history as well as having XXXX send me an updated version of my credit report reflecting correct deletion of any accounts associated with Nelnet. XXXX never responded to my request to have the accounts removed from my credit report. I contacted XXXX via telephone on XX/XX/XXXX, and attained a recorded phone conversation with a representative of XXXX, XXXX XXXX, who confirmed that XXXX does not have documentation from Nelnet/USDEPTED with my signature for any student loans and that XXXX is still refusing to comply with F.C.R.A. regulations by reporting false information on my credit report and refusing to remove it from my file.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I received an e-mail from XXXX, the servicer, on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. I logged into my account to read the message and observed that the site listed my current payment as past due. I contacted XXXX chat support the same day and inquired as to why my payment did not post on time. I explained that I have been subscribed for automatic debits for well over a year and I have not made any changes to my accounts. The representative, XXXX, explained that it was not my fault or their fault. He explained that " Your due date was on the weekend, and payments are only process on business days ( Monday-Friday ). It takes 2-3 full business days to process auto debit payments. Your payment will be effective on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, and should be visible on your account by XXXX/XXXX/XXXX. No late fees, or negative credit reporting will occur because of this issue. '' I inquired as to whether the company would continue to list this as a past due payment on my account. The representative said " Your payment will appear to be 3 days late, but that will not be reported to your credit, and is a non-issue once the payment is processed. '' Unfortunately, the claim that this is a non-issue is false. Records of my payment history can be required for future financial applications. Potential loan refinance offers may be contingent on perfect on-time payment history. There are other circumstances where it is plausible that this " late payment '' can cause me harm. Yet, the company claims there is no mechanism to reverse the status on my account to reflect their responsibility for this situation. The representative explained that, if I wish to prevent this in the future, I need to end my auto debit plan and make manual payments. I contend that, if this company offers an auto debit service through their site, they have a legal responsibility to conduct their debits in a way that does not occasionally but permanently tarnish my payment history.

Consumer Complaint: I have disputed items to XXXX for six months now, which they have fixed some of my issues. I am a victim of Hurricane Harvey. My credit is very important to me. I called everyone of my creditors right after the storm. They all agreed to postpone my payments to recover from the storm damages. Now months after the storm, XXXX is reporting I have late payments on my credit report when I know I contacted each creditor and arranged an agreement. And also, XXXX is reporting I have missed payments on student loans that are duplicate accounts. All of my school loans have been deferred for years now, because I am still in school. This false reporting information has impacted my credit score and been damaging my credit for years now. I have been paying higher interest rates on loans and higher insurance rates, because of their erroneous reporting practices.
