Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX closed down in XXXX of XXXX and I was told that I would get my loans forgiven if i filed for student loan forgiveness filling out the School Closure form by XXXX XXXX, and that's what I did but got denied. then called my student loan provided Nelnet told them the situation, Nelnet told me to fill out the Student Loan Defense to Repayment and that's what I did but i was denied for that. I should not have to pay back loans if my school closed down. Below are the dates the student loans were taken out, and the amounts owed. XX/XX/XXXX I owed {$6000.00} since then Nelnet has charged me over {$3000.00} in intrest. XX/XX/XXXX I owed {$3500.00} since then Nelnet has charged me over {$1000.00} in intrest XX/XX/XXXX I owed {$3000.00} from the previous year since then I've been charged {$330.00} in intrest

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I am attempting to make a payment toward my student loans on the Nelnet website today, XX/XX/20, and Nelnet will not allow me to post the payment sooner than XX/XX/20. By the time the payment posts, 2-3 days of additional interest will have accrued and my payments will apply more to interest than is due today, the day that I'm attempting to pay. My understanding was that I could make a payment at any time but this does not appear to be true. The funds are available in my bank account today regardless of whether Nelnet can collect over the weekend. I should not be penalized for this. I submitted complaint XXXX in XXXX for other deceptive practices with Nelnet. They have not yet resolved the issue identified in that complaint or contacted me as they said they would in their response. I believe this new issue is just one more deceptive practice by this company that causes financial harm to borrowers.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I applied for a renewal of an Income Driven Repayment and my loan was in forbearance at the time. I was told no payments were due. Then in late XXXX a notice was sent out that I was unaware of that said a payment, under XXXX was due. I was contacted in XXXX and immediately paid the amount. At that time I submitted to have consideration for excessive loan debt. I was told that I was approved and would not have a payment until XXXX. This was spoken over the phone. The representative however, did not follow through on that information and I am back at square one. I have 4 groups of loans and only one group does not qualify. I am a retired XXXX veteran. Please help. Nelnet wants over XXXX dollars a month which I can not pay. I was forgiven half the loan with Nelnet in XXXX, for unemployment and XXXX XXXX and then the full amount was restored when my retirement started in XXXX. I keep getting different responses from Nelnet and now they are not removing the XXXX requirement to pay in XXXX even though I have submitted all the paperwork for a 3rd time.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have Student Loans from Nelnet when I was attending XXXX College in XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX in XXXX, OR. My monthly payments was approximately {$500.00} a month. My loan started off with {$35000.00} and now it has increased to {$46000.00} from all the interest and late payments I been struggling to pay. I have recently fell in a financial hardship and it has been difficult to continue to pay the loan even though I entered into forbearance. I have also recieved an email about XXXX college being sued for false marketing and advertising. It mentioned they were going to try to remove anything that negatively affected my credit report and I am not required to make any other payments. I am still being billed for the interest on the loan. XXXX College In XXXX shut down and I am not able to contact the campus as they failed their students on their promises before enrolling. I have already communicated with the lender and FASFA and I have not recieved a response and it's been longer than 60 days. I was young and did not have a lot of knowledge on schools, loans, and credit.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX ; I submitted the XXXX XXXX Discharge Application to my student loan servicer-Nelnet. I explain during the initial phone call that my loans were already paid in full. However, I was told that I could submit my package anyway and see what would happen. I submitted my application ; and I was approved. I was told that I would be refunded all paid loans from XX/XX/XXXX to present which totals over {$26000.00}. I was then told that I needed to wait 180 from the date of application which would put me at XX/XX/XXXX. I have called several times to Nelnet and to the Department of Education and I have not gotten anywhere. When I called in XX/XX/XXXX ; ; I was told that I needed to wait until XX/XX/XXXX before I would receive my refund. Then on XX/XX/XXXX I received a phone call from Nelnet stating that they were NOT going to refund me the paid loans even though I have everything in writing and they knew from the beginning that my loans were paid in full. I have in writing that they approved and that they were going to refund me my payments and now verbally stating they are not.
