Lender also stated, " We have notified, or will notify by the end of the month, all national credit bureaus of your student loan forgiveness. '' When loans did not show paid on credit reports, I contacted the lender twice by phone, first time they said information was sent to credit bureaus at the end of XXXX, beginning of XXXX at the latest. Called again at the end of XXXX along with sending an email ( no response from email ), was told there was nothing they could do, credit reporting was automatic. Filed dispute with XXXX, still waiting on dispute with XXXX, Nelnet not responding.

Consumer Complaint: I applied to the XXXX program for federal student loans on XX/XX/XXXX, prior to any available information about my loans being updated on the Nelnet website. It has been approved and confirmed, per XXXX Nelnet took well into XXXX to even reflect a balance, let alone a monthly payment. Finally, a monthly payment has been adjusted to reflect an over XXXX XXXX monthly payment. The XXXX application led me to believe a {$76.00} payment would be expected. I emailed Nelnet on XX/XX/XXXX, called XX/XX/XXXX with no answer, emailed on XX/XX/XXXX, and called 3 times on XX/XX/XXXX. I never had issues with my previous loan servicer, now my loans have been sold and I can't get ahold of a person. It's apparently disingenuous to think the largest debt-collecting agencies in the country would know how to... collect debt.

Consumer Complaint: I recently had my school loan transferred to Nelnet. Now, because I had a previous account, which the system recognizes, I have not been able to log on. I took the time to retrieve my username in an effort to reset my password. However, the system did not send the username thus I was at an anpass. I called Nelnet and typically you are on hold long enough that I had to hand up because I needed to attend a meeting. I think both times I called I was on hold for about an hour. I emailed the company with very detailed information because I am a XXXX XXXX and know the terminology. I received a XXXX email instructing me to attempt to retrieve my username. This means either they did not read my email or they outsourced their support department to someone who does not understand XXXX. Either way, I have been waiting for a response from them for XXXX XXXX weeks.

Despite my repeated efforts to address this matter, I have encountered significant difficulties, including extended wait times and a lack of access to a representative through NELNET Inc 's call center. Account Information : Account Holder Name : XXXX XXXX Account Number : Account Number : NELNET XXXX Date of 1099-C Form : XX/XX/2023 The core of this dispute revolves around a 1099-C Form that I have received for the cancellation of debt associated with the aforementioned account. NELNET Inc has identified itself as the loan servicer for this account. However, despite the issuance of the 1099-C Form, the outstanding balance on the account has not been reflected as zeroed out. I believe that NELNET Inc has not made a good faith effort to display the zeroed-out balance, even though the debt has been discharged. Furthermore, my attempts to contact NELNET Inc through their call center have been consistently unsuccessful. I have been placed on hold for periods exceeding two hours without ever reaching an advisor or representative who can assist me with resolving this matter. This prolonged delay and inability to access customer service represent a failure on NELNET Inc 's part to address my inquiries in a timely and efficient manner. Enclosed with this complaint is a photocopy of the 1099-C Form for your reference. It clearly demonstrates that NELNET Inc has acknowledged the cancellation of debt associated with the account in question. Therefore, I kindly request that the CFPB intervene and facilitate the following resolution : 1. Prompt Display of Zeroed-Out Balance : NELNET Inc must promptly display a zeroed-out balance for the account in question on all relevant account statements and communication materials. This action should reflect the debt 's discharge in good faith, as indicated on the 1099-C Form. 2. Cease Harassment : NELNET Inc should cease all forms of harassment, including phone calls, letters, or any other communication aimed at collecting the previously discharged debt. 3. Confirmation of Zero Balance : NELNET Inc must provide written confirmation of the zero balance within 30 days of receiving this dispute and resolution request. Consumer Complaint: I submitted a SAVE plan request on XX/XX/23. The website informed me I would receive an email from them in 3 business days for approval and if not I would get an email with a status update in 10 days. It has now been over two weeks and i havent heard anything. Today, XX/XX/23, I waited on the phone for 2 hours and 45 minutes before someone answered. I was told that today they just finished processing applications for SAVE from XX/XX/23 so it would be another 3 weeks before I found out if I was approved. I then asked why the website said 3 days for approval and 10 days for a status update and the customer service rep said that was only during normal processing time and that they were having longer than normal processing time but mentioned that no where on the website or via email. In addition, during this time my loans are acreuing interest daily while I wait for the SAVE plan approval and she said she can not do anything about it due to long wait times. So I am ready to start making payments on my loan via SAVE but I am unable to do to the lag in processing time and NelNet can not pause my interest accruing. So I am just being penalized because they are behind on request approvals. They have no updated information on their website that they are behind or anything.
