Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Problem with the interest rate
Consumer Complaint: I believe Navy Federal Credit Union ( NFCU ) is discriminating against me based upon my age ( XXXX ) and / or is guilty of false advertising- specifically advertising a lower rate when they have no intention of honoring that rate ( bait and switch ). I have called XXXX times about this and XXXX was told that they would call me back, which they did not and the third time was told there was no assistance they could provide. NFCU has a published lowest new car loan rate for XXXX month loans of 2.79 %. My wife and I applied for a loan for approximately {$37000.00} in midXXXX and were given 3.19 %. I enquired as to what was driving this rate and, citing proprietary risk models, NFCU would not tell me despite repeated requests. While I understand completely the need to protect proprietary risk models, I am at a loss as to why we would be denied the lowest rate. For reference, here is our approximate loan information : XXXX ) Credit scores : we both have excellent credit scores. - my NFCU published credit score was XXXX at the time of the application- my wife 's credit score was anywhere from XXXX - over XXXX at the time of the application, depending upon the source XXXX ) Yearly income : we have a combined yearly income of approximately {$280000.00}. That comes out to approximately $ XXXX XXXX ) Liabilities : the only major liabilities we have are : - mortgage/insurance/taxes - approximately $ XXXX - home equity loan - approximately $ XXXX Given the above, I can not fathom why we do not qualify for the lowest published rate.

Consumer Complaint: To whom this may concern, My name is ; XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX MD XXXX XXXX XXXX I'm a Retired Veteran. I own a property free and clear. The Market value show the sales at " XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX C, XXXX, MD XXXX Closed | XX/XX/XXXX Residential +/- {$210000.00} As a member of Navy Federal Credit Union XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for an Equity Line of Credit ( HELOC ) in the amount of {>= $1,000,000}, with the intent to posible purchase a house. When I started the application via an email sent for NFCU it allowed me to upload my information. They continue sending me 3 emails with attachments to complete the application. I contacted them due to verification of income. I asked specifically to tell me which documents are needed to fish the application, their answer was you need to follow the instructions given on the email! Again, I asked specifically to tell me which documents are needed... not a direct answer referring to the email content. During that time I was able to see in my account that the loan was in process/transaction Pre Approved. However, one day it disappeared off my account without notice. I was not sure why because I didn't receive any warning or notice for termination. I called several times and asked to speak with a file manager or a supervisor to get an answer on reasons why the application was terminated without warning notice... They said that an " email was sent : to me on XX/XX/XXXX, giving the reasons why! I request for them to send me the email they said was sent to me. Again, I never received the email. Unfortunately today, I'm still waiting for it, they never sent me anything and didn't get any answers from NFCU. On XX/XX/XXXX I send them an email via there communication/account messaging ; Subject : loan Navy Federal Response XX/XX/XXXX : Good afternoon XXXX XXXX, Thank you for your eMessage. We will forward your request for contact to the correct party. Thank you Your Message XX/XX/XXXX : I WANT A SUPERVISOR TO CALL ME. I WANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT. IT IS A SHAME THAT YOUR STAFF IS CARELESS. They never answer/reply to this email... I called again the loan department on XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( mls # XXXX ). Again, I explained to her the problem, she was giving me the same information all of them gave me without giving answers. Again, I asked to speak with a supervisor ... Again, none of the supervisors were able to talk with me on the phone! However, XXXX XXXX said, " XXXX XXXX XXXX ( mls # XXXX ) was going to call me and answer all my questions and concerns ''. Never did!!! This is not a miscommunication or misunderstanding on my part and I strongly believe that NFCU has been prejudiced and biased with me during the entire application process. They refused to answer my questions/requests and never presented to me with evidence/reasons why they dropped my application without warning notice. All this proces shows poor professionalism, careless, incompetency and product knowledge from NFCU loan employees. As I continue looking to purchase, this has prevented/stopped me from further purchasing a new house... As always, Unfortunately for me, today is XX/XX/XXXX, and no one from NFCU has contacted me in any way, shape or form.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Confusing or missing disclosures
Consumer Complaint: I opened a checking account on or around XX/XX/2022. I received a debit card shortly after from navy federal credit union. I deposited {$200.00} in my checking account using my debit card. I then extended credit to navy federal credit union and was denied credit for no reason as their reasoning did not make any sense as my credit score was a non negative factor, my ability to payback was a non negative factor nor was my history. I believe this is a result of XXXX discrimination. I was then denied access to my account and blocked from withdrawing my funds and access to my funds pursuant a Identity verification. Which this verification was unwarranted and a unnecessary encumbrance. For 3 weeks daily, I have called navy federal credit union and each time for over two hours no live man nor woman answered. I have these calls recorded and are willing to testify. I simply want my funds released back to me, I would also request that a line of credit requested is made available to me immediately. I would also ask that my account be restored. I have incurred damages and financial injury in this matter and have now given notice of this error and opportunity to cure.

Consumer Complaint: My wife XXXX XXXX went to a Branch of Navy Federal Credit Union in New Jersey, over there they says you're very nice and helping a lot of people in need, so we will have to pay {$5000.00} plus {$3600.00} for the Wedding Certificate, and they gave a Document I'd like to attach with this message, as I have seen I paid {$8700.00} to Tax manager XXXX XXXX as instructed by you with the receipts. Why do we have to pay one more time at the Credit Union? anyway I reported to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration ( TIGTA ), to arrest Tax-fraudsters already, who will be liable to pay {$5000.00} + {$3600.00} + {$1500.00} = {$10000.00}? So if the Navy Federal Credit Union won't be able to respond properly, I will file a complaint to the USA Financial Ombudsman and someone will pay an interest rate of % 8 on the amount of $ XXXX according to laws of The US . This is a deceptive scheme to delay my funds to my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Account. No Financial Business charges fees like that. so please sort out this matter as soon as possible if not it is too late

Consumer Complaint: I am 100 % XXXX veteran with sole income from XXXX. My Va XXXX gets deposited into Current Bank checking ending in XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I transferred {$1000.00} of my XXXX check to Navy Federal Savings account ending in XXXX. That same day Navy Federal withdrew {$790.00} to pay a charged off credit card from 10 years ago, that has since been closed and removed off my credit report. There was no warning that they were going to use those funds to pay off debt. When I informed Navy Federal that they has used my VA XXXX check I transferred to pay my rent, they informed me that they did not care that the debt was from 10 years ago and that they were not going to return the money despite me needing this VA check to pay for necessities such as housing. I have no other income. I informed them that it is illegal to collect VA XXXX to pay debt, they informed me that it came in by transfer so therefore the law didnt apply. However, it doesnt change the fact that my XXXX check was used and I informed them that I can provide proof that transfer came out of my XXXX check. This has put me in a great financial bind. The bank is not hurting financial over a {$700.00} debt from 10 years ago. However, for me it makes the difference between having a roof over my head and not. Navy federal does not care.
