Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Navient continues to harass me day and night. I tried to explain to them that I lost my job in XXXX and could not pay right now, but they call numerous times per day. So far, today along, XX/XX/18, they have called me 7 times and it's only XXXX. They harass me and my ex-husband who co-signed. I am not getting anywhere with them and they have also over the years never told me that when you did a deferment or forebarance that the interest would stack up. This goes for my private and public loans. My total loans started out at around 80,000 and are now just under 150,000. I even called XXXX XXXX XXXX at one time because the harassment wouldn't stop. I don't know what to do with them anymore.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Participated in my Department 's Student Loan Repayment Program ( SLRP ) and opted for 3 separate disbursement sent to Navient from United States Treasury. My loan was a XXXX XXXX XXXX loan and mail payments are sent to XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, GA XXXX. I incorrectly put the address ( XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX ) intended for Navient loans. Navient processes both XXXX XXXX XXXX and Navient Loans. My name and account number are on the check. My first payment was disbursed and cashed by Navient but it did not get credited in my account because it went to the wrong payment address. Per Navient customer service, they will cash the check, hold it for 10 days and return it to the sender without notifying the person on the account/check. I find it suspicious that my name and account number are provided and my account was not credited. In addition, they cashed the check ( probably started accruing interest ), held it for 10 days ( 20 in my situation ) before returning it to the sender ( United States Treasury ) without notifying me. My complaints are : They have my information, why not correctly allocate the payment instead of cashing and holding the funds without notifying the borrower or noting their account next time they inquire.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have contacted Navient my student loan server beginning XX/XX/XXXX regarding my student loan debt. I continue to get the same response of high interest and lack of non payment. I informed Navient that I was a public service employee since XXXX and have not received any loan forgiveness or loan reduction. I request loan information from the school and the Department of Education. It does not show how my loans have matriculated to more than XXXX. I believe that Navient formerly Sallie Mae steered me towards multiple forbearances and deferment due to my low income and provided unclear information about how forbearances and deferment would affect your student loan debt over a period of time. They were misleading to incur additional dollars from interests from student loans. I also I indicated I sent in several public service applications and up until last year I was advised to contact the department of Education to again consolidate loans. It is a game of catch up by Navient in advising the borrower to consolidate loans to start the process all over again.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: I have been struggling with Navient and their repayment options for a while now. I have 4 separate loans but one in particular they just wont help me with now. The total is {$20000.00}, signature loan XXXX. In XXXX I had spent 2hours in the phone with them so they can fix it. They told me they did I have confirmation numbers that I will be paying {$150.00}. I called recently and was informed that, that loan was never eligible for a repayment plan and aside from the {$150.00} that I am already paying for the other loans I would have to pay {$300.00} for this one payment alone. I submitted my financial statement before it was due and I have stressed to them that I can not pay that. Yesterday XX/XX/XXXX i spoke to an agent XXXX who stated that they are not obligated to help me find other options, that again I was never eligible for a repayment plan and that he is sorry the truth is ridiculous. I asked to speak to his manager XXXX who wasnt as rude but not helpful either and he reiterated the same thing. So not only did they misinform me in XXXX but now they arent willing to correct their wrong and are trying to make me pay what I cant afford. I am not paying off a car or credit card .. this is a student loan that was taken out through XXXX XXXX at the time at the age of XXXX and I regret I ever did. This is not the first time I have an issue with them. In the past they have taken my payments and have not disbursed them as they were suppose to.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: The only reason that Im reaching out the CFPB is because I was taken off a repayment plan unilaterally without my knowledge and then illegally penalized by having to jump though more hoops and being reported negatively on my credit report. This applies to myself and the co-signer, which in this instance is my ill mother whom Navient knows. As a result of a lot of hard work and negotiation with Navient. I was approved to have a certain payment and contractual terms for the duration of my loans. Navient removed me from these payments based on subjective measures that were not at any time part of the agreed terms and refused to place me back on the the automatic repayment plan that I was on. Its not if I made my payments on time since my payments were in auto debit, but why Navient took me off of this contract and refuses to fix it, fairly. I hope this makes sense and you can see whats happening. If not, I can most definitely speak to you in person and articulate this differently. The office of the advocate has mistreated me and not responded to me on getting any traction to fix this. XXXX

Consumer Complaint: As given here as concise yet clearly as possible I am still experiencing the following : - There is as of yet no clear or guided humane help with my student loan debt situation. - Currently under Navient, who my student loan debt was transferred to after having XXXX ( Now XXXX XXXX ) servicing them for sometime, plus prior to them under SallieMae. - Worsened or led to the unfortunate current problem I have after I consolidated my debt, and whoever did the " processing '' back then accepted the variable over the constant interest rate - to make more money off of the principal and what is added ( i.e., the interest, which keeps running and accumulating to the amount owed daily, with no real relief etc. ) to such! - At the end if the {$150000.00} or +thereabouts forgiven/discharged/etc. will unfortunately result as brought to awareness of in at least one online reference in $ 20,000-30,000 worth of taxes that was mostly based on monies the debtor did not pocket - the bank/loan servicer did, though I and not them wind up paying for their taxes owed! Does that make sense to a " self-defeating '' aid at the end for those who just went to school or not? - Have this unfortunate situation as given/based as if on some type of horrible or not humane " usury-racket '' activity which goes against a true care for this situation. - Currently unemployed, have been mostly on forbearances/IBR plan for years yet was told by at least one reference that you could be and/or better off on PAYE and/or REPAYE and not get the problems with interest charges as Navient ( and others before ) has you on one so that they could make money off of the interest? - Had done a previous complaint when under XXXX, which resulted in a contact with someone ( agent/etc. ) for the US Dept. of Education, who only did an audit, recalculation, etc. of my student loans though still left my situation as " same-old-same-old '' with the interest rate still running and adding to the principal with no positive aid of some type whatsoever! - Also have to renew my plan soon as such will be expiring within a month or so, and the other day went to their website to login and found their services down. - Also aid in taking are of a sister on XXXX who receives such on Social Security as I did as a XXXX XXXX to my father who was a veteran and passed away in 2012. Will look forward to any options, assistance, etc. that your services could render with this severe debt situation and thank you kindly again for your services!

Consumer Complaint: I am a XXXX XXXX and applied for XXXX Loan Forgiveness. My first application was declined for unknown reasons. The next month, the payments with current loan jumped from $ XXXX/month to $ XXXX/month. The same time, Navient offers me a loan refi to bring my payments back down to {$200.00}. While waiting for my second application for XXXX forgiveness to answer, I refinance to keep payments low. Unknowingly, the refi goes through but I find out later it's a private loan and not qualified for the XXXX Forgiveness. I was unaware that the forgiveness would not apply. It is suspicious that as soon as I applied, my payments jumped and they happen to offer a refi. I called to have refi turned around, they refused.

Consumer Complaint: My payment of {$190.00} was posted to my bank account XX/XX/2018 and sent to Navient. However, there is no record of my payment on my account. A Navient representative told me that I didnt pay in the month of XX/XX/2018, but that is a lie. My bank statement and bank representative confirms my payment. What a shame that Navient would steal my payment. A Navient representative told me that they cant help me. I have filed a complaint with my bank. Also, my new loan servicer informed me that Navient did NOT send them any payment for XXXX, although I made this payment to Navient. I had to pay my XXXX bill a second time!

Consumer Complaint: I believe I have been paying my loans every month for approximately 14 years now I have paid XXXX a month for 14 years which equals XXXX. I understand that this total does not take into account interest, etc. my loans have been transferred a minimum of 4 times by different services/lenders/consolidators, etc. number one when they are coming after you for these loans you are 21 yrs old most likely and fresh out of school. The only thing you know is that if you don't pay they garnish your wages. But since you are fresh out of school you most likely don't have the salary to support such high payments. You most likely agree to " whatever '' just to get going and pay. Somewhere along the way yo hear about consolidating so you only have one payment and these companies are not helpful. do not explain at all nor educate you on your various options and their impact. I have two loans that totaled XXXX ( back in XXXX ) and as I said I've paid over 53,000 only to be seeing a statement that says my balance owed is still XXXX ( XXXX ). I currently have a fixed interest rate of 4.75 % my entire career has been in XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) working with XXXX XXXX, XXXX or XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, etc. I need someone or somewhere that I can trust to take a look at my loans and tell me over the LIFE of them what has been happening and where my money is going because NAVIENT my current loan servicing provider was not helpful at all. They only told me that they can see that I have a special extended payment plan that was offered to me by the Department of Education and that they are not familiar with what that is, or the terms and conditions. She was able to tell me if I make any modifications to it, I will not be able to get it back because Navient doesn't offer that.
