Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Back in XX/XX/XXXX. Navient applied a forbearance that they automatically did. In XX/XX/XXXX, My mother ( XXXX XXXX ) and I asked for them to lower the payments. They transfer us to someone to help. They asked back our income and later they sign us up for a 0 % interest. The woman asked for my mother debit card information. The payment never came out and the agreement wasn't never set up properly. But, she made a payment in the amount {$50.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a email about the waiving the late fee 's, lowering your monthly payment over a period of time, bring your loan up to date just by making your current monthly payment and forgive portion of the balance as long a mutual agreement on settlement terms can be reached. On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX EST, I spoke to XXXX XXXX. She claim here employee id:XXXX. I spoke to her about my account. She said my account is 93 days past due. I told her, I understand. But, I received a email about waiving the late fees. I told her I can't afford to make payments that high because. I'm on a XXXX. I'm on a fix income and can I settle the balance. She told me XXXX. I told her I can't settle that. I asked her about my options. She told me that all. I told her I guess. You can't help me. She said I guess I can't help you. Her attitude and not willing to help. I don't understand that. So, I hung up. I call back at XXXX, I spoke to a lady by XXXX XXXX , she was very helpful and understanding about explaining my options. I asked her about a settlement, she told me to discuss it with my mother the co-borrower and come up with a number. I already exhausted all the options except for one of them a settlement. I have had this loan since XX/XX/XXXX and it's XX/XX/XXXX. Between that time, I have suffer from XXXX XXXX and I'm in and out of the hospital. My mother is on social security. I have exhausted all my other options. Such as lowering my payment and If, I do catch up on payments the loan doesn't never go down. I still have to pay for my medicine and doctor visits.

Consumer Complaint: Navient Student loans : I have been unable to figure out why, when I make an overpayment, my due date is not advanced when I direct it to be. I have gotten several different answers, including from customer service management, none of which make sense to me. An example : In XX/XX/2019, my amount due for that month was {$0.00} on XX/XX/XXXX, because I had made an overpayment already to advance this to XX/XX/XXXX. In XXXX, I made a full payment anyway, distributed as per federal requirements, and had instructed them to advance the due date. Despite this, my due date was not advanced, and remained XX/XX/XXXX. What Navient is saying is that, despite having a {$0.00} balance in a given month, I would have to pay two full monthly payments anyway, in order to advance the due date by one month. This makes no sense, as both payments would already be overpayments. This has happened to me repeatedly over the past two years. I have contacted them numerous times ( for which I was given different explanations and told it was fixed ), and it took a year ( and me directly emailing their CEO ) in order to get the above explanation ; which I still don't think makes any sense.

Consumer Complaint: I recently contacted Navient and requested information about how the principle and interest are being applied. After receiving and reviewing payment information ( for the last 24 months ) it appears the principle and interest applied over the last couple of years is bogus? In some months no principle was applied and just interest paid to them? In other months an average of {$30.00} was applied in principle. Navient still alleges the loan is still a 20 year loan? How can this be? This is truly unacceptable, as principle should always be applied with every payment? Also they are alleging that the federal government is setting these rules on the way payments should be set up. In addition their payment plans have become outrageous! They are now telling me my payments will increase {$700.00} in the next year or so, when I was originally told ( by another customer service rep two years ago ) my payments were already set at {$430.00} for the life of the loan? CFPB please help!

Consumer Complaint: Good morning. I recently filed and got a repayment plan in place which is suitable. Where I am having problems is that I worked in the nonprofit sector serving under served communities for 15 years and NAVIENT won't allow me to file for loan forgiveness. My student loans from XXXX University and Virginia XXXX for the most part would fall under the forgiveness. My loans have changed hands ( 4 ) times. First with the banks, then XXXX XXXX XXXX, then Sallie Mae and then NAVIENT. I filled out the form with XXXX and Sallie Mae and since my loans are with NAVIENT the forms have been lost and they ( multiple representatives ) said I can't file for it. I need help getting my loans forgiven, I need a manager from NAVIENT to speak with me that has knowledge of loan forgiveness and is willing to assist in this matter because I have served my community and would like the loans to be forgiven. I was calling NAVIENT between XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX and never got anywhere with them. One woman told me in the summer of XX/XX/XXXX that I should have filed paper work when I started working out of college in XX/XX/XXXXand I explained to her that I did many years but my loans have changed companies numerous times and that I should not be penalized for it. Can someone please help me. I appreciate it.

Consumer Complaint: I am filing a complaint regarding Navient payment plans and the active lawsuit that they are involved with. I am a XXXX XXXX for an XXXX XXXX and has been with the company 3 years now right out of college. I never received any information regarding better payment plans for me besides an IDR plan which increased this year slightly under the amount I was originally charged. Being involved in a XXXX XXXX does not pay the best which does not allow me to pay these payments in full with no other options available to me.

Consumer Complaint: I have repeatedly requested that Navient provide me with an application for the income based repayment plan. Annually they play a game of neglecting to contact me in any way about the need to reapply. They fail to provide the application to do so. They move me to a standard repayment plan, the monthly payments of which are approximately 1/8 of my annual income. When I call they force me to agree to forbearance under duress, and finally agree to send an application, which they without fail have neglected to do. Then they put me in default for not paying on the loan despite making every reasonable effort to keep my account current. The only barrier to my student loans being current is Navient and its potentially criminal and fraudulent business practices. My last complaint to the cfpb went fully unanswered by Navient. I got some obscure and bizarre letter from the cfpb about the delay in the response but waited and waited and waited for a response from Navient prior to moving forward. Im once again in default because Navient has failed to make an application available to me. I spoke to them again today requesting that an application be sent to me and I requested specifically that due to their previous malicious neglect, that they provide more specific information about when and how it would be sent and that tracking information be provided. I was transferred to a supervisor that refused to listen to anything I said and just obstinately refused to participate in the conversation. He additionally refused to transfer me to his supervisor because he didnt want me to yell at her. I will not ever again be speaking calmly to these people, and yelling is the only thing that will happen when I speak to them. This is directly the result of their refusal as a company to provide the most basic of loan servicing services required of them because Navient prefers its borrowers to be in default. I am done with the games. Please provide any information you can on how to pursue legal action and to have my loans either forgiven or transferred to a different servicer. Navient is deliberately and maliciously damaging my credit and I will not ever again be involved with any interaction between myself and them that is not a part of court records. This is unacceptable on the parts of Navient, the cfpb, and the federal government. Get it together or eat the $ XXXX and growing debt i have. My credit has already been destroyed. I will gladly swap to an off the grid, cash only existence for the remainder of my life and let you spend thousands of dollars attempting to collect a debt that Ive been begging to take care of for years now.

Consumer Complaint: While investigating if I was eligible for a loan discharge on a Navient private loan, I noticed the school listed as my college was not a school I attended. I requested a copy of the promissory note and once received, it was obvious the loan is fraudulent. The signature for myself and my co-applicant are blatantly forged. Basic, easily verifiable information was wrong, and overall the document wasn't even filled out in its entirety. No copy of ID, no record of an ID for the co-signer was even recorded. I alerted Navient right away, and supplied all requested documentation in a timely way. This inlcluded an affidavit, identity theft report, replaced drivers license from the same time the loan was applied for, social security card, signed lease from 6 months after the identity theft, and a statement regarding the loan. The first issue was the amount of time taken to investigate, then they requested the same document which was already provided multiple times. They continue to harass both myself and my co-signer. They found " no identity theft '' even though the paperwork very clearly confirms my claim. At this point, the credit reporting agencies have removed the loan from my reports but Navient continues to add interest to the account and call incessantly.

Consumer Complaint: I called Navient numerous times regarding Public Service Loan Forgiveness but was told my loans didn't qualify. Now 13 years later I find out from my Union I could have turned my loans into Direct Loans and then I would have qualified for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
