Consumer Complaint: I have 9 Federal student loans with Navient that were once serviced by the department of education. These loans were sold, without my consent to Navient who now claims that because they are no longer affiliated with the Dept. of Edu my loans no longer fall under the current student loan repayment moratorium that was put in place because of the pandemic. As a result I now have 9, 90+ day late payments reporting to my credit report. I wasn't paying them because I was under the impression that because they are federal student loans originated by the Dept. of Edu that they would fall under the payment freeze. The 9, 90+ day late payment reports are unjustly harmful to my credit. I shouldn't be punished because the identity of my loans were changed without my consent, or my knowledge.

Consumer Complaint: Navient took over my student loan from Salle Mae when Navient split from Salle Mae in XXXX. I was struggling to repay my student loans - we currently have two boys with learning XXXX in private school so they have access to the tools they need for education. I repeatedly tried to work with Navient to lower my student loan payments. I even would beg and plead with them over the phone that I would pay what I could every month - XXXX to XXXX dollars, but I always got the same response " we are sorry but we can not work with you. '' Every time they wanted me to file for a forbearance which I did multiple times, each time approved by Navient putting me further into debt. Each time my loan would come up to start for repayment I would explain my situation asking for smaller payments I could make and each time I was denied and would be told to file another forbearance. In XXXX Navient told me I would need to refinance in order to be able to continue with the forbearance process, not allowing me to pay what I could. It even got to the point where Navient customer service told me it would be better to miss payments because it could take up to 270 days before the loan would go into collection. I feel like I was totally taken advantage of. Navient steered me toward multiple forbearances instead of income-driven repayment plans while continued to struggle. I also believe that Navient was providing compensation that incentivizes its team to get borrowers off the phone as quickly as possible. I understand that there has been a settlement with Navient for private student loans, but they also deployed the same tactics here for my federal student loan. I am sure there are other borrowers out there in the same boat as me. How can a loan for an in-state University in XXXX cost over {$100000.00}? How can this happen to a student that at the time was XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX? I am pleading for help with this situation.

Consumer Complaint: I am trying to understand why Navient is hasnt paused my student loans payments. I thought that Biden placed a hold due to Covid until this XXXX. Although, I have been continuing to make these all throughout this time, they have continued to charge late fees and now have a Collection Agency calling me on their behalf. I admit that I have been late and have requested forbearances however, Navient have also deferred/forebear some of my loan payments without my request or approval. I also, do understand how my original principal balance is {$20000.00} and I have paid them a total of {$33000.00} ( XXXX, XXXX principal and {$21.00}, XXXX ) and I still have 10 years of payment to go at {$310.00} per month. I believe because cause of false deferred payments they have put me a cycle where I will forever be paying them.

Consumer Complaint: My student loan account with NAVIENT was automatically placed in forbearance many times over the years. I was on an income based repayment plan with a monthly payment of {$0.00}. NAVIENT continues to switch my account to forbearance so that they can collect interest on the principal. During the month of XXXX XXXX and XXXX 2021 they issued a forbearance on the Income Based Repayment plan and reported my account delinquent to the credit bureaus. The student loan is inaccurately being reported as 6 separate accounts, therefore there are 18 delinquencies on my credit report in this 3 month period. Furthermore, the account was never delinquent. It was on an income based repayment plan, and through deception was placed in forbearance. During the forbearance, the account is being reported 150days past due, 18 times. Therefore my credit score dropped XXXX points for 18 payments 150 days past due. Again, there was only 1 monthly payment and the amount was {$0.00}. Navient granted a forbearance during the affected period XXXX XXXX and XXXX 2021, yet still continues to report my account delinquent. I have contacted Navient and requested documentation to support their claim that I requested a forbearance and that I was told my account would be reported late. There has been no response in the past 3 months. I have disputed with all 3 credit bureaus and Navient continues to insist that the information being reported is accurate.

Consumer Complaint: In 2007 I took out a private student loan with sallie Mae to attend school at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) in XXXX, NH. The student loan was switched to Navient shortly after I had left the school. Navient claims they paid the school over {$20000.00} in the XXXX and a half month period I attended the college. I began classes in XX/XX/2007 and left the school at the end of XX/XX/2007. After leaving the school, the school closed down for not meeting standards and repeatedly failing to maintain health regulations. Over the past almost 15 years I have struggled to pay my loan. Navient repeatedly recommended placing my loan into forbearance and income driven repayment as well as being placed on hold while I attended classes at another college. My loan currently is higher now than when I left XXXX XXXX. Navient has repeatedly raised my rate the increase the dollar amount of interest owed. At this time my loan does not appear to be going down with the payments I make. Myself as well as so many others have had nothing but issues and hardships due to this company while trying to repay a loan that will never go away without making huge unreasonable payments on it. My husbands sister had the same exact issue for years. I hope all of those individuals looking for a student loan stand clear of Navient as they are untrustworthy, manipulative, and condescending. They have only the companies wallet in mind and will not have one care if things become tight and its difficult to make payments.

Consumer Complaint: Hi, I understand Navient was recently sued. All the loans I had were part of the stated lawsuit. Coincidentally, I paid off my loans the same time the court filings came to a decision. I would like to know the below. 1 ) Will I get reimbursed all the outstanding interest they charged me for, though I had made all the required payments on-time. This misallocation had repeatedly caused the outstanding interest for all my loans of which I've inquired about multiple times when I first started to pay for my loans. 2 ) Originally when my loans were transferred from XXXX to Navient, they were all lumped together. I was told by Navient, if I took charge of my loans and separately paid them, I could prioritize to pay off the higher interest loans first, which would help pay off the loans faster. However, because of the change, they told me I had to partially stop and re-setup payment which cancelled out my Interest Rate Reduction discount that was a benefit given for making continuous on-time payments for a few of my loans that was affected. The discount was never reissued back to my loans, when I haven't stopped paying my loans. Navient 's process forced me to stop paying my loans and lost the discount benefit when this could've been resolved by an internal calculation correct on their end. I would like to know if i will be refunded what the discount would have covered. I've continuously made non-stop payments, which was supposed to requalify me for the discount that i never saw and I have inquired about this before through CFPB, whom did not follow-up on my previous inquiry from the feedback section. 3 ) My loans had a benefit that noted the lender was supposed to take care the last 6 payments of my loans, which I felt the terms and conditions had changed. This benefit never kicked in. Navient doesn't review their loans thoroughly. I ended up paying off the loans myself. Overall, I feel that Navient is not managing their loans well enough. More importantly, I wished the loans were never transferred to Navient because I feel that Navient tried to find ways to eliminate benefits that were originally part of the loan terms to begin with. Unlike XXXX and any other bank or loan lender, the company didn't send any annual statements at the end of the year explaining the payments that had occurred. Hence the lack of documentation gave Navient every opportunity there was for borrowers to not see the changes they were making. Please help investigate and follow-up with the above bullet points. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: Today is XX/XX/XXXX. On the XXXX of every month for the last 15 years I have had a student loan payment due with Navient. I have reached out to them several times as to why when my payment is due on the XXXX I log on and they are showing my account PAST DUE. I then attempt to specify a certain amount which is above and beyond their PAST DUE AMOUNT and they automatically change the amount so that I am not able to pay the extra I am intending for the loan. I have two loans with them and one is almost paid. I am attempting to pay extra to pay it off and they reduce the amount I intend for that loan to purposely stretch it out further. Every time I contact them I get no response. I am assuming the showing of a loan PAST DUE will calculate additional interest and late charges so that they can gouge the loan holder additional funds. I have attached the loan screen as of today. Make payment on XX/XX/2022 Calendar for payment date selection Effective same day if made by XXXX p.m. ET Pay from Acct * XXXX - XXXX XXXX XXXX Add a new bank Input Payment Amount with : Input Payment Amount with : Specify Amount Amount Due Past Due Loans to pay Loan Current Balance Interest Rate Due Date Amount Due Payment Amount XXXX Consolidation {$3000.00} 7.250 % XX/XX/2022 {$240.00} XXXX $ Past Due ( included in Amount Due ) {$120.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX$390.00} 7.250 % XX/XX/2022 {$45.00} XXXX $ Past Due ( included in Amount Due ) {$22.00} TOTAL {$290.00} XXXX These folks are gouging every loan holder anyway possible to charge additional fee 's or stretch the loan out as far as possible to collect additional interest. There is no detailed statement available so they calculate fee 's as they see fit without answering to the borrower. I have simply had enough of their games.
