Consumer Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/16 I closed my checking account at a Key Bank branch in XXXX, OH. I instructed the bank representative to close the account and I received a check for the remaining funds. I have other accounts with the bank, and I logged in on XXXX/XXXX/16 to look at something. To my surprise, the checking account was still showing online, and it contained a negative balance. The negative balance was a result of a payment to a home security company ( on XXXX/XXXX/16 ) and the resulting overdraft charges, PLUS a monthly checking account maintenance fee. I called Key Bank and the representative explained that the payment to the security company " reopened '' my account. ( Yes, the mistake made by a third-party " reopened '' an account I had specifically closed. ) I had changed the home security company monthly bill to a personal credit card on XXXX/XXXX/16. So, the auto-deduct from the closed checking account was their mistake - and they admit to it. How Key Bank could allow any third-party transaction to " reopen '' an account I 've closed -- well, it defies logic. This practice is completely unfair to the consumer and makes no sense. It should not be allowed to happen.

Consumer Complaint: I had filed a complaint against Key Bank XXXX XXXX Ohio. I sent it to The Federal reserve. They said to contact this branch. We have a boat we are trying to sell, We had a deposit on it in XXXX, we tried numerous times to contact them. We where behind XXXX or two months on payments, they would call us, but trying to get to someone who knew what was suppose to be done is clueless. The sale fell through, the buyer did n't want to wait any longer. We had it sold for {$28000.00}. Well now we have someone else gave the broker a deposit, he offered XXXX. Again with this bank, the buyer wants to get a title they say it takes XXXX90 days for the funds to clear. We are near losing this sale. We have lost our farm and instead of having the bank take the boat back we are trying to make payments. Well now that we filed a complaint against the bank a women who 's name is XXXX, said she would not talk to us, whatever they are going to do will be in writing. Is this ridiculous or what, this is why this country is in the shape it is in. So what do we do now, the bank, will not talk to us, the buyer wants to buy the boat. I have never in my life dealt with a stupid bank, none of the departments knows what the other is doing. What so I guess we wait and loose another sale. All the buyer wants is a bill of sale. In XXXX or 10 days. I thought this would be done, but since I contacted this agency and XXXX they will not talk to us. I want someone to know we are not wealthy but just would like someone in that bank make it right. So now we wait till a different department sends us a letter and we have no idea how long that will take. The bank did ok a short sale on this boat, but as I said it took the lose of XXXX sale and maybe the loss of another.

Consumer Complaint: I received a promotional email informing me I would receive bonus points if I used automatic debit/credits and online bill pay. The points owed for the bill pay were never applied. A visit to a branch was unable to resolve this and I had to get on the phone. The representative informed me I was ineligible on a technicality that was not outlined anywhere in the promotion. I submitted the email promotion and email with support on the topic both of which substantiate what steps I needed to take to be eligible. After 11 days I emailed back to request a status update. The next day I called again and was told it would be another XXXX3 business days before I receive a response. The points were due over a months ago.

After making the payment I confirm by phone with Key Bank that the payment would be applied to the principal only! I later found that they applied it to future payments - collecting a years worth of payments and interest in advance. I also feel they collected double interest for more than a year before their indiscretion was discovered. Now that this loan is paid in full ( and then some ) Key Bank refuses to refund me any and all overpayments made against this loan.

Consumer Complaint: Key Bank is holding me liable for a fraudulent account in which they have the XXXX fraudulent account documented three times on my credit reports. XXXX XXXX is extremely unprofessional and nasty, please forward to another party in the corporate office. It is unpleasant to be victimized continuously by her. I contacted legal representation and after they viewed documents and the signatures, they informed to file one last complaint with CFPB and attach the signatures. I attached the signature that Key Bank provided you on their application and I attached my signature from one of my home mortgages. You can clearly see that signatures are clearly different. Again before proceeding legally, I am asking Key Bank to remove the fraudulent account in which they are holding me falsely liable. Also, I have attached where Key Bank is fraudulently reporting the same XXXX account three times on my credit reports, which is fraudulent credit reporting. I have addressed this with them, XXXX XXXX and others nothing has been done as you can see, I attached a copy of my XXXX credit report in which I have continuously submitted to Key Bank and they have yet to remove from credit bureaus.

Consumer Complaint: I opened a new Key XXXX Checking account because of the promotional bonus being offered to new customers. The stimulations were as follows : Make XXXX direct deposit of {$500.00} at the minimum within 60 days after account opening. Direct deposit transactions are limited to payroll, Social Security, pension and government benefits. Limit XXXX gift per qualifying account. Limit XXXX gift per individual. The value of your gift will be reported on Form XXXX. Your gift will be deposited into your account within 90 days of meeting requirements. If you close your Account within 180 days of account opening, you will be charged a {$25.00} account early closure fee. You had to open the checking account with a minimum of {$50.00}. No problem, I have a great job and thought it will be easy to meet the 60 day deadline. Then I got into a automobile accident! I sustained a XXXX and as a result have been unable to work, my doctor has n't even cleared me to drive. Now obviously I wo n't be able to get a direct payroll deposit into my new checking account since I 'm not working. I thought that would n't be a problem, surely Key Bank will understand that an unforeseeable circumstance with my healthcare providers documentation should mandate a workable solution, right? No, Key Bank absolutely wo n't budge. I offered to transfer the {$500.00} from my primary bank account in order to fulfill Key 's requirement but they said they ca n't. I have worked XXXX a number of years and bad things happen, it is Key Banks job and responsibility to see that I am taken care of as their customer without us little guys they 'd be out of business. I further asked that if no resolution could be made that they refund my {$50.00} that I initially deposited to open the account without a penalty charge {$25.00}. They refused. I ONLY opened the XXXX Checking Account because of Key 's {$200.00} sign up bonus, it 's a great deal who does n't want a bonus. But all the bonuses in the world ca n't buy good business practices. They wo n't buy honesty, integrity or standing behind your word, your people, your brand, your company. By not having good customer service and representation a company is robbing itself of the very essential component ( s ) to keeping its doors open. And customer service without representation is empty.
