Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue: Payment process
Consumer Complaint: I currently have a VA loan with a mortgage of {$3300.00}. This payment was made for the month of XX/XX/2023 around the fourth of the month. Unfortunately, Freedom Mortgage reported the payment to the credit bureaus in the month of XX/XX/2023 which resulted in a 30 day late. This has been detrimental to my credit profile. Attached you will find a bank statement which reflects this payment in XXXX. I humbly request that this be corrected forthwith, as it is imperative to keep an exemplary credit profile from my future financial and business endeavors.

Consumer Complaint: I initiated a loan recast process in XXXX of last year, which involved a payment of {$50000.00} along with a {$300.00} processing fee. The recast had been approved by my previous loan company ( XXXX ) in XXXX, and starting from XX/XX/2023, I was expecting a monthly payment of {$1800.00}. However, my loan was subsequently transferred to Freedom Mortgage Company, and they failed to execute the recast and honor the lower monthly payments as per the approved terms. Freedom Mortgage Company kept sending me bill to pay {$2000.00}. Now 9 months passed, I have made numerous attempts to communicate with them, providing all necessary documents ( uploaded to their website ) and contacting them several times every month since XX/XX/2023. Despite my efforts, there was no progress until XX/XX/2023 when they requested that I redo the recast under a modified policy, which I do not agree with. Given that the recast has not been implemented at all, I have formally requested the return of my funds. I sent an official letter via XXXX next-day delivery and also uploaded the letter to their portal three weeks ago on XXXX XXXX, but as of now, I have received no response from them. I am seeking your assistance in recovering my money since they can not inherit the approval from the previous company. Thank you very much for your support in this matter.

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue: Payment process
Consumer Complaint: I paid {$100000.00} to Freedom Mortgage on XX/XX/2023, to reduce my principal and reach the 20 % equity threshold to avoid paying additional private mortgage insurance ( PMI ) premiums. Freedom Mortgage forced me to pay a {$100.00} fee to remove PMI, which was not disclosed beforehand. However, the main issue is that these payments were never considered in my XXXX account. A month later, I got letters from Freedom Mortgage and XXXX indicating that my mortgage was transferred to the latter finance company. Freedom Mortgage continued charging me for mortgage insurance, and my {$100000.00} disappeared. Only to understand this mess, I spent over XXXX hours talking with my accountant, my lawyer, and employees at Freedom Mortgage and XXXX. I wasted even more time explaining to XXXX that it was illegal not to reduce my principal by {$100000.00}. They did this in XXXX.

Issue: Trouble during payment process
Subissue: Escrow, taxes, or insurance
Consumer Complaint: Good afternoon. I have a mortgage loan with Freedom Mortgage and my loan number is : XXXX. I didn't have any escrow with my mortgage when I started my loan as I had over 30 % equity on my property. I always paid tax and insurance for my property. My monthly payment is {$1500.00} and I always paid my payment on time with automatic payment method with my bank. since XX/XX/2023, Freedom Mortgage started withdrawing {$1900.00}. I noticed that in XXXX and called the customer service and they said that they didn't receive my property insurance documents and that's why they added escrow in my account. I uploaded my insurance docs in their message center as they didn't receive my postal mail earlier. I requested them to refund my extra payments they already took and remove escrow from my account. They refused to refund my money and remove the escrow. instead, they kept me waiting for hours on the phone and kept transferring me to different agents. After back and forth with a lot of calls and messages they still refusing to solve the issue. now my XXXX payment is due and they still didn't fix the problem. They sent me a message saying my request to remove escrow has been denied. Later I read all the horrible customers reviews about the company and found that I am not the only victim of their illegal demand. They are still charging me escrow for insurance and I already have insurance for the property. Please help.

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage
Subissue: Foreclosure
Consumer Complaint: I am now facing a foreclosure sale on a house that has been owned by our family for over 20 years due to the obstruction and questionable conduct of the mortgage company, Freedom Mortgage. The sale is set for XX/XX/XXXX. I am the rightful heir and owner of the property and this has been documented and established through probate court. The issue is that Freedom Mortgage refuses to speak with me or engage to discuss the situation with the delinquent payments, which were due to an oversight and the closing of an account, not due to inability to pay. When I spoke with the law firm in order to try and resolve the matter and pay back the late payments, I found out that they had doubled the amount owed from {$7000.00} to over {$15000.00} and I could not meet that threshold. Although I have a large portion of that money, no one at the law firm or Freedom will consider or even talk about options. I find this difficult to believe and feel that this is not only morally wrong, it is quite possibly illegal. My father in law XXXX XXXX XXXX refinanced into this loan through XXXX XXXX in XXXX. When he passed away in XXXX my husband started making the payments on the mortgage loan and the house was inherited by him. The payments were set to automatically come out of his savings account. The payments were made as agreed every month. I lost my brother in XX/XX/XXXX and then incredibly my husband passed away in XX/XX/XXXX. I was devastated as we have XXXX young daughters and attempted to focus on taking care of my family and trying to get through this difficult time. Although I missed time at work the mortgage continued to be paid as agreed every month through my deceased husband 's savings account and there was no problem. After my husband passed the home was willed to me and I went through the probate process and have the legal documentation that I am the rightful owner of the home. In XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX closed my deceased husband 's savings account and sent me a check for the balance. They did not notify me what was going on, they did not suggest that I add my name on to the account, they just closed it and cashed it out. I was still very distraught and trying to raise my girls and had major home repairs going on and I did not realize that this was the account that the mortgage was being paid from. I began receiving written notices from Freedom a couple months later but I assumed it was just statements or information on the escrow account etc. and did not realize that the payments were not being made. Then Freedom filed a notice of default in XXXX, even though we had paid every payment as agreed for 5 plus years ... ... ... ... ... no courtesy call, no offer to work with me, just pay up or get out. Once I became aware of the situation I immediately tried to contact them to discuss the issue but no one at Freedom would speak with me regarding the home of which I am rightful owner. They would tell me that I am not authorized to speak with them regarding the mortgage since I am not the borrower. When I told them that the borrower is deceased and that I am the rightful heir and owner they would just make an excuse and cut me off. I could not make any progress with their customer service department. I was referred to a local law firm who is supposedly handling the foreclosure sale. I contacted them to pay the past due balance of {$7000.00}. However, when I spoke with them they told me that the amount owed had doubled, because of late fees, legal fees, junk fees and who knows what else. Now I would need to bring in close to {$15000.00} in order to pay back the missed payments.
