Consumer Complaint: In late 2021, my landlord had filed an unlawful eviction notice and I was the only one in my family making income during the midst of a XXXX pandemic, and while my family and I were in shock, I decided to pursue buying a home, and a lender asked to pull my credit. i am an individual who mostly uses my debit card or cash to pay bills and have only had XXXX or XXXX credit cards and would pay in full and not be involved in my credit as there was no need. When the lender pulled my credit, they told me I had XXXX charge-offs on my credit reports for Experian, XXXX, and XXXX and I was taken back and completely caught off guard. The XXXX charge offs were from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, both of which I have never opened a credit card with, never authorized, applied, or used from either company. For almost a year, I disputed the fraudulent accounts with the credit bureaus by sending debt validation letters, proof of debt, wet ink signature, method of application, statements, charges, etc. and an explanation on how the credit bureaus can continue to report fraudulent accounts I never authorized and was not aware of. I decided to also file an identity theft police report, which was approved by the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and also changed passwords on the XXXX cards I had, placed extended fraud alerts on all three bureaus, and made sure my personal information ( which was a mess, incorrect names, old addresses, old phone numbers and incorrect employers I had never worked for ) was up to date and accurate to ensure the accounts got removed. No credit bureaus removed the accounts after seeing an approved identity theft police report, which I sent and attached to my dispute. I have filed another identity theft affidavit and I am asking the CFPB to remove both fraudulent accounts by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX on all credit reports and immediately updated as deleted. I will not tolerate FCRA violations, and both these companies harassing me and sending me debt collection letters on accounts I never opened, authorized, or even knew existed. The CFPB has a legal obligation to force the credit bureaus to remove the XXXX charge-offs and allow me to properly build back my financial picture which was damaged at no fault of my own. I will provide as much documentation I can to help this process go smoothly.
