Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: I'm filing this complaint because I'm a victim of identity theft and I'm seeing information on my credit report that doesn't belong to me. My personal information is being accessed through the dark web due to data breaches at financial companies and retailers. The following account doesn't belong to me and needs to be removed from my credit report : XXXX XXXX XXXX {$640000.00}, this account is causing me harm and I've tried to request this institution to provide me with documents to show the origin of the account. I also contacted the credit bureaus by certified mail with dispute letters and a copy of an identity theft report, I have done everything I can as a consumer to get this issue addressed, however, this account is still reporting in my credit. Please help me remove this incorrect account asap.

Consumer Complaint: I filed a dispute for incorrect information on my credit report. I received an email from the credit bureau stating that they are assuming the disputes are coming from a 3rd party. They in fact did not come from a 3rd party. l even called them to verify it was me and they still refused to process my disputes. I wasted money on mailing my disputes out. I sent personal information to verify my identity through mail, just for them to not thoroughly investigate.

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX closed out CFPB complaint XXXX claiming it was a duplicate of CFPB XXXX. It in fact was not as XXXX provided detailed evidence that showed the account, as reported across the CRAs, contains facially false data and illogical data. In particular, the account/trade reports derogatory information that predates earlier reports that did not include the derogatory information, and information that is plainly inconsistent with other reported information, such that one piece of information must is inaccurate. From XX/XX/XXXX to XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX willfully or negligently failed to comply with its responsibilities under the FCRA found at 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( b ) by initially failing to conduct a timely investigation with respect to the disputed information contained in the Consumer 's credit reports after receiving notice of the disputes by XXXX, Experian, and XXXX, by failing to review all relevant information provided by XXXX, Experian, and XXXX, with respect to the Consumer 's disputes FCRA found at 15 U.S.C. 1681i. Despite XXXXXXXX XXXX assertion they are reporting the account correctly they are indeed not and at minimum continue to verify facially inaccurate information with Experian, XXXX, and XXXX. While XXXX may insist " they are responsible for [ furnishing ] data [ regarding the Consumer ] but are NOT responsible for how the data is displayed [ by the CRAs ], '' they share equal culpability with the CRAs for the errors in the Consumers file for the account/tradeline because " CRA [ s ] can best fulfill [ their ] obligation to report accurately under [ 15 U.S.C. ] 1681e if [ they receiv [ e ] accurate information from a furnisher under [ 15 U.S.C. ] 1681s-2 '' ( XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) ). XXXX has simply been asked to fix the errors and to cease verifying inaccurate/incomplete/misleading/false information for the Consumer. Discovers inability to fix those errors is clear indication that it lacks adequate policies and procedures for assuring maximum possible accuracy of information they furnish to the CRAs regarding the Consumer, placing XXXX in violation of 12 CFR 1022.42 ( b ) and 12 CFR Appendix E to Part 1022 at III. Furnishing accounts due to identity theft violates my consumer rights specifically 15 USC 1681c-2, I also noticed credit inquiries from creditors : XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, XXXX, XXXX. I have not made these request or am I familiar with the creditors.
