Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2020 An original indebtedness letter was sent to the company to verify the signature and settle debt, however, the company has replied with a settlement letter and a copy of the bill instead of the original application with my signature. Subissue: Attempted to collect wrong amount
Consumer Complaint: The company sent me a letter stating that they would give me a 10 % discount on a debt. The debt was {$4800.00}, and according to their letter, they would allow me to settle the account for {$4300.00} ( a savings of {$480.00} ). The letter said I could pay online, so I signed up for an account, clicked on " offer letter acceptance instructions '' and followed the directions it provided to make my payment. I submitted my payment for the {$4300.00}. Then the next day ( today ) I checked the account, and it said I still owed a balance of {$480.00}. I called them and aside from being utterly rude and giving me the run around, they said that somehow I didn't check the right offer box when I made my payment so they will only consider it as a payment toward the entire amount. Basically, I made the EXACT payment they said would settle the account, but because I didn't check a box when I submitted the payment online ( a box which doesn't exist ) that I now have to pay the full balance. I have copies of the offer letter and a photo of the the payment instructions on the screen which doesn't have any " offer box. '' I followed 100 % of the instructions.

Issue: Took or threatened to take negative or legal action
Subissue: Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Consumer Complaint: I received a summons to mediate for the collection amount of XXXX for XX/XX/2020. My attorney has attempted to contact the law firm several times ( leaving messages and attempting to resolve this issue ) that is listed on the documents with no response. Because they are not responding, it's making it very difficult to resolve this legal matter. It has been about a month since I received this notice and have not spoken to anyone regarding this. What I don't understand is how can you sue someone using a law firm but don't respond to consumers or even law firms to resolve legal issues.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: The Debt is not mind. I sent Police reports, and letters to them about the problems that I got with Identity theft. But they still garnished my wages. I filed another one. I do not understand the law. Why should we pay for Banks mistakes that's not right. What protects a person form Identity theft. It effects so many people. I use to think we had a better system than we do. I have notified the Credit agencies of the problem and put a freeze on my SS number and credit info. Debt collectors need better research, like pictures, finger prints. I have been having problems sense 1979. Someone used my name and put a middle initial in it. Used my SS number and change a number in it. Almost every year for the last twenty years or more I have got some kind of notice from these debt collectors. Please look in to some of the unfair tactics that are being used. Who protects the poor person who can not afford a lawyer to deal with situations this? And they know this. Thanks. ( I believe you guys know something wrong that is why you have this page. )
