Consumer Complaint: The first problem is back in XXXX the XXXX of XXXX I reached out to the Discover Bank and informed them of my identity thief. A credit card in the account of {$810.00} had been opened back in XXXX and closed in XXXX. I informed them that I was away at college those years and that it wasn't me that opened the accounts. I also let them know that the address associated with the card wasn't mine either. So because the criminal had access to my social and date of birth, making it seem like the account was truly mine, the company refused to take it off. Again in XXXX of XXXX and XXXX of XXXX I again informed Discover Bank that the account still isn't mine and refuses to help me with this issue. My second problem is that not only have they not assisted me with this issue but the added the fraudulent account onto my credit report as if it's a brand new negative account, damaging my credit score even more. This company is extremely rude and insensitive. I did not open this account or use this card and I need it gone. I can provide proof that I was away for school the whole time.

Consumer Complaint: I'm writing on behalf of my mother. I wanted to transfer my IRA account from XXXX XXXX XXXX to Discover Bank. I filled out the necessary forms that Discover required including REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OR CONVERSION FOR TRADITIONAL, ROTH OR SIMPLE IRA. On the form it asks for the address of XXXX XXXX XXXX and my SSN. I filled it out with the PO BOX address listed on my XXXX XXXX statement and my full SSN. Mailed the forms roughly around XX/XX/XXXX. Days later I received a call saying they can't process it because it has a PO BOX instead of a physical address. I filled out a second form with the physical address and mailed it on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, after noticing that the account still hadn't been funded on XX/XX/XXXX I wrote to them asking if any more forms from me were needed. They said no, everything was good and they were just waiting for the check from XXXX XXXX. Mid XXXXt rolls around and I went to XXXX XXXX to find out why they never send the check. Well, it was because Discover Bank never sent the request to XXXX XXXX, they thought we were going to hand deliver the request to XXXX XXXX. After many more conversations with them, they said that didn't send the original request because it didn't have a truncated SSN. They never told me that before and NOWHERE on the form or on the instructions does it ask for one.

Consumer Complaint: I applied for a Discover Balance transfer to pay off my XXXX account of {$18000.00}. Never got ANY KIND OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OR REPSPONSE -- So I applied to XXXX XXXX XXXX for the same thing. I got an immediate answer from XXXX and the transfer to XXXX for {$18000.00} happened on XX/XX/2019. I got a statement and started paying XXXX last month. Last week I got a statement from DISCOVER for {$18000.00} I called XXXX and they said I needed to call XXXX to have THEM send the money back. So I called XXXX who said I needed to call Discover back and have them cancel the transfer. So I called Discover back today and spoke with a supervisor. She said they are not able to cancel the transaction because it was done on line NOR could they credit me the {$540.00}. We all know this is bull. SO now, have 2 - {$18000.00} balances needing a payments made to and no one to help me. NO ONE should be allowed to do this without any kind of confirmation, which I asked them for but they do not have. I think Discover CAN cancel this transaction but they refuse. I am XXXX years old and feel they are taking advantage of a senior citizen. Please help

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I disputed a charge of {$70.00} from the XXXX XXXX with Discover, after a horrible dining experience. My fiance and I waited an hour for our food. The server did not come and check on us at all. We finally received it and the quality and temperature were horrible. Asked the manager to refund us and he refused, stating we already bit into the food. We only had a few bites! I clearly stated this was my reason for disputing, yet I receive a ridiculous letter from Discover stating that they find the charge to be valid based on the merchant 's documentation. So I looked at the documentation, and all it was was a bill and a receipt that my fiance signed! I never said we didn't authorize the charge!! We didn't want to but it was either pay the bill or go to jail. Was the reason for my dispute even read?? They completely disregarded what I said, and closed the investigation! They did tell me that if I want them to continue, to complete their attached form. But I look at the form, and it's clearly not meant for me -- Talking about proof of return and cancellation.. Seriously?? AGAIN -- I never said we didn't authorize the charge ... Barely have had any issues with Discover thus far, but the way they mishandled my dispute is absurd. Going to cancel my account with them if they don't take care of this the right way.

Consumer Complaint: I recently just applied for a new Discover Card account on XX/XX/2019. In the previous years I've had two discover card accounts ; Open road ( which is no longer a card ) and Discover IT. in which I closed both cards personally. Their was fraud on the Discover IT card, Discover closed this at my request and also they gave me an interest are of 0.99 % for closing the account and to pay it off. I was NEVER told that this will refrain from me getting a discover card in the future. Every time I apply for a discover card it says as the reason it was declined is - STATUS OF EXISTING / PRIOR DISCOVER CARD ACCOUNT is the whole reasoning. I have talk to so many customer service people at XXXX and XXXX and they stated to me that they can't change anything to get me approved, meanwhile I have perfect credit and had/have excellent payment history with discover and NEVER missed a payment, also I have two ( 2 ) student loans with Discover as well. I feel discriminated. No one at Discover wants to help with this issue and says its the " computer. '' and that they can not change it, ive asked them how long will this take, Discover informed me they are not sure. I ve NEVER heard of anything in my life in regards to this situation. I was offered a lower APR rate to pay off the account, I was never informed of any paperwork and or statements to me that I would not be able to get a discover card.

Consumer Complaint: I have been disputing a 30 day late payment that occurred on my Discover account in XX/XX/2018. Discover has refused to do an investigation into the matter so I escalated the issue to their corporate office of Customer Advocacy and to the CEO 's office but nothing has been done. After reviewing my account with Discover multiple reasons why the late payment occurred : The minimum payment had increased around XXXX/XX/XX/2018, but the auto pay did not make this adjustment. I submitted the payment on time, via a phone payment on or around XX/XX/2018 but it bounced on XX/XX/2018, then Discover represented the phone payment XX/XX/2018 and was returned XX/XX/2018 because the Discover Financial Services representative took down my incorrect bank account number to process the payment that bounced. XXXX XXXX acknowledged to me that the payment kept bouncing because Discover had the incorrect bank information to process the payment that kept bouncing. Discover Financial Services representative made a mistake that caused my account to have a 30 day late payment. Discover Financial Services is violating my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act Section 623 ( a ) ( 3 ). Discover Financial Services never added the required sentence on my credit report stating, " Customer has disputed the validity of this account '' within the required 30 days of the disputed item. Discover Financial Services is also violating my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act Section 623 ( a ) ( 2 ) ( B ). Discover is not allowed to report inaccurate or incomplete information. The month in question of the 30 day late payment I had over {$7000.00} in my bank account and could of easily made the minimum payment or paid off the whole account in that statement period. I qualify for this removal of the late payment because I have never missed a payment before the incident or after the incident and there was negligence on Discover. Discover is reporting inaccurate, incomplete, and not verifiable information to the Credit Bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, etc ).
