I WAS MAKING MY PAYMENTS WITH NO PROBLEM WITH THIS COMPANY ABOUT, NOT RECIEVING ANY OF MY PAYMENT FOR ABOUT ONE YEAR. I MAILED PAYMENTS TWICE TO DISCOVER. THEY KEPT MY PAYMENTS ON HOLD. ON SEVERAL CALLS MADE, DISCOVER DENIED OF NOT RECIEVING MY PAYMENTS. I WAS GREATLY DISAPPOINTED WITH DISCOVER. THIS COMPANY FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PAYING OFF MY BALANCE BY XXXX XXXX. THEY JAVE THE IDEA THAT I HAVE XX/XX/XXXX FOR MY PROGRAM - NO INTREST FEE TO EXPIRE. I WAS ACTUALLY EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY ABUSED MENTALLY AND FINANCIALLY WHEN DISCOVER DENIED FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF XXXX TO XX/XX/XXXX OF NOT RECIEVING MY PAYMENTS SND LATER CSSHED MY CHECK. EVEN, ON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF CALL MADE TO DISCOVER, TO FIND OUT A REFLECTION OF PAYMENT MADE TOWARDS MY ACCOUNT, REMAINED THE SAME BALANCE ON TWO SEPARATE PAYMENT MADE TO THIS COMPANY. I CALLED TO SPEAK TO CUSTOMER SERVICES AND EVEN REQUESTED SPEAKING WITH SUPERVISORS AND I WAS TOLD MY PAYMENT WAS NOT RECIEVED. THIS IS THE SAME ADDRESS THAT I HAVE ALREADY MADE MY PAYMENT. THIS IS ACTUALLY WHAT HAPPENED OR THE INCIDENT. I WAS VERY MUCH SERIOUS, DESPERATE AND EAGER TO PAY OFF MY BALANCE BEFORE XXXX XXXX TO AVOID BEING SLAMMED WITH INTEREST RATE DEFERRED FOR ONE YEAR. I HAVING BEEN MAKING MY PAYMENTS WITH NO PROBLEM. SO, AS I AM AWARE THE PERIOD TO PAY OFF IS GETTING CLOSE, I DECIDED TO PAY MORE ON MY ACCOUNT. I MAILED A PAYMENT OF {$1500.00} MONEY ORDER ON FIRST WEEK OF XXXX, MAILED TO DISCOVER. I CALLED DISCOVER AFTER ABOUT 7-20 DAYS TO CONFIRM MY PAYMENT RECIEVED. DISCOVER DENIED OF NOT RECIEVING MY PAYMENT. IN THE SAME MONTH, XX/XX/XXXX, I MAILED ANOTHER FEE, CHECK OF {$500.00} TO DISCOVER. I CALLED DISCOVER AFTER 10 DAYS. THIS COMPANY DENIED OF NOT RECIEVING MY PAYMENT AGAIN. I WAS DEVASTATED, SUBJECTED AND IMPOSED TO PAY ANOTHER FEE/2ND TIME OF THE AMOUNT OF {$2000.00} OVER THE PHONE, INCLUDING THE REMAINING BALANCE OF {$400.00} PLUS TO PAY OF BALANCE BY XX/XX/XXXX. FOLLOWING, MY INVESTIGATION OF THE MONEY ORDER MAILED, I WAS INFORMED MONEY ORDER WAS KEPT ON HOLD AND NOT CASHED. I CALLED MY BANKS TO FOLLOW UP WITH THE WRITTEN TO DISCOVER, I WAS ALSO TOLD CHECK WAS NOT YET CASHED. THIS IS WHERE, I KNEW THST DISCOVER CREDIT CARD COMPANY IS PLAYING S GAME TO HOLD SLL PAYMENTS MADE TO THEM, TO BUY OUT MORE TIME AND AS TIME GOES, THE DAYS GOES BY TO XXXX XXXX, THEN WILL THEY APPLY THE INTEREST RATE TO MY ACCOUNT. I WAS SUBJECTED TO USE ALL THST I HAVE TO FEED AND PAY MY BILLS TO PAY FOR A SECOND TIME. I CALLED MY BANKS AGAIN, AND WAS TOLD DISCOVER CASHED THE {$500.00} CHECK ON XX/XX/2019. I WAS ALSO FORCED TO CANCEL THE MONEY WITH A CANCELLATION FEE. NOW, I OVERPAID DISCOVER WITH {$500.00}, OF WHICH AS OF THIS DAY, I HAVE NOT RECIEVED THE OVERPAYMENT. I, AM THEREFORE ASKING DISCOVER TO PAY ME THE AMOUNT OF {$2000.00}, THAT THEY MADE AND SUBJECTED ME TO PAY THE SECOND TIME. Consumer Complaint: I attempted to make a charge on my Discover Card on XX/XX/XXXX for {$19.00}, and it was declined. I switched to another credit card and made the purchase. The item is still pending, so it is affecting my available credit. I understand that it will be cleared in a couple of days. The problem is that Discover Card removes my ability to see that the charge is still pending after it has been pending for three days, according to their phone CSR. They gave no valid reason for hiding this from me, only that is their " procedure '', which is clearly a nonanswer if I ever saw one. Can you tell me what regulation allows them to hide account information from me such as this?

Consumer Complaint: At the present time I am conducting an investigation because I have been a victim of identity theft. During the past few months I have received several phone calls from Discover for a past due balance. It has been almost about 10 to 15 phone calls a day. I found that persistence very unusual and concerning. At one time I had spent about 25 minutes with a Discover representative and as soon as I hung up I received another call from a representative allegedly from Discover as well who did not verify the account nor asked any security questions to protect my privacy. I also found that Discover had different phone numbers to contact me that were incorrect, I requested the representative to inmeditately remove the wrong contact numbers. As I am currently struggling as a victim of identity theft and my credit has plummeted, I am reviewing everything in order to recover. Discovers actions are not compliant specially after so many issues affecting customers privacy and identify protections.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX or XXXX of this year, I negotiated with Discover Loans {$30000.00} over 3 years to consolidate my debt. Although the monthly payment was nearly $ XXXXmonth, it was doable. In XXXX, my husband passed away, and due to a law in XXXX, because I was a XXXX, I am not entitled to his Social Security benefits, thus my income dropped by $ XXXX/month. I immediately called Discover Loans and explained the situation asking for an extension to 6 years ( I understood that would increase the percentage on the loan ), and they refused stating that their policy is that the loan needed to be " 6-months '' old before a modification could be made. I explained that I could not afford the monthly payment and didn't want to default or ruin my credit rating, and they still refused to help me. I ave been paying on the loan, albeit less than the {$1000.00}. I wrote the president of the company and he referred me to XXXX XXXX, in their consumer advocacy division. She has called me monthly to tell me there is nothing that can be done. Now they are charging me additional interest, monthly late fees, and have further suspended charging on a Discover credit card ( which is my lifeline, and I certainly have not been charging frivolously on it ) which has always been current. I don't think my request was unreasonable, but I do feel their punitive measures towards me have been.

Consumer Complaint: Discover closed my account ending XXXX in order to steal my rewards. I always paid bills on time, never late and earned 150000+ miles in rewards which would be around $ 2000+K cash. I requested my rewards redeemed on XXXX XXXX at that time Discover assured me rewards would be paid automatically on XX/XX/XXXX for that I did not needed to call in : they made me to believe that they will send a check or transfer cash to my bank account as they did previously when I redeemed my rewards previously. Few days ago I saw that my family member made a purchase on XXXX and redeemed my Discover rewards, I never consented to Discover or XXXX to use my rewards as payment option, I don't understand whythose companies decided they can use my rewards without my permission. Today on XX/XX/19 I contacted Discover again to get my rewards and was told that Discover closed my account on XX/XX/19 ending *XXXX because " they did not hear from me and my rewards are voided '', never sent an email or mail or any indication informing me about intent to close my account. So today, on XX/XX/19 I spoke with XXXX mngr in OH he refused to redeem my miles for me because " when I called on XX/XX/XXXX to request my rewards I was told rewards will be paid out automatically and I don't need to call, but then I needed to call again in order to redeem. '' this istrolling and scamming practices to steal my rewards. No other credit card company ever demanded my Tax Returns from IRS. No notes, emails, letters with deadlines or anything indicating reason for closing account ending *XXXX therefore Discover did not wanted to pay my reward which would be approximately $ 2000+ Discover is a scammer and a thief, they invent tricks to steal from us our rightfully earned rewards : in instance, they emailed me yesterday on XX/XX/19 stating that they put me on their Match program on my account ending *XXXX that was never even activated and is closed. For the demand of my IRS records I received and email from someone looking like a spam and I thought was a scam that did not come from Discover email, I deleted it as it wanted me to click on the link. I learned it was from Discover only after I called in to activate my new card ending *XXXX. XXXX told me that spam looking email was from them on XX/XX/XXXX, ( XXXX from their special department ). Then he asked me if he should close the account and hanged up the call. Then I called again, spoke with the female agent and she confirmed that XXXX was accurate and they will not activate account until I give them access to my tax returns from IRS. I refused to allow any credit card company access to my IRS records. and they closed my both accounts without any notices in order not to pay my reward.

Consumer Complaint: I was defrauded by this business. I was charged {$39.00} to renew my phone service as stated but two days later I received a receipt showing additional fees that totaled {$45.00}. Then I received another email trying to defraud me again saying I had to pay about {$60.00} to cover 911 service in my area. I checked with the XXXX XXXX XXXX police department 911 service and they said that was a lie. I never used their service and tried to cancel it after finding out these facts. They refused to cancel this service. Discover cards own policy allows for charge backs when the amount agreed on is different then the amount charged. I did not know the overcharged me until two days later when I asked for a receipt for my purchase. The FTC said it is a violation of the Truth in Advertising act. Likewise, the credit card company is charging me interest even being they are violating the Truth in Lending and Fair Credit Card act. The last time I emailed them on their website was XX/XX/2019 refusing to provide me a charge back under the law.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I was informed by a Discover representative that my student loans were reviewed by their legal team and my loans are not eligible for deferment despite my half-time enrollment in XXXX studies. I submitted my Master Student Loan Promissory Note, originally serviced by XXXX, and explained to at least 6 different representatives the interim definition in that statement which states I shall get 10 years plus 6 months in school deferment for XXXX study, and 4 years plus 6 months for XXXX study. I am asking for XXXX study deferment, as I am in XXXX school. Discover says, this is a misunderstanding - I can only have the XXXX deferment, and they refuse to honor this XXXX study deferment period. I offered to continue paying interest while in school, and explained I would only use 36 months of the XXXX deferment, but was still denied. I have spent at least 5 hours on the phone with Discover in the month of XX/XX/2019, and was told there is nothing I can do to get my loans into deferment while I am in school.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I've had this loan for several years at a fixed monthly payment rate. Now approaching the final two payments, discover has decided to take it upon themselves to submit an " unauthorized '' balance payoff. This has caused other consequences with my credit union account in which the funds were withdrawn. I am appalled! My credit union suggested I contact discover and have them provide a statement declaring this was done in error in order for me not to be responsible for overdraft fees. In the meant-time a monthly payment was scheduled and authorized by me days prior. They were trying to double dip. I tried to resolve this with Discover but they refuse to be compliant. I've never experienced this in the past with discover nor my credit union. I strategically schedule payments in a timely manner at least 95 % of the time. I don't claim perfection, but when I approach the due date I sometimes pay directly on the discover website. This is how discover had access to my account information to retrieve those unauthorized funds from my account. I would appreciate if an investigation can be done. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: I took out a 7 year installment Personal loan to replace the upstairs air conditioner for my house. The rate quoted was 14.99 %, the actual effective rate over the lifetime of the loan is 44 %. I took this out in XXXX of 2017 and have had numerous phone conversations with Discover about how I was misled and deceived regarding the effective rate of this loan.I have told them that I want the loan changed to an actual 14.99 % loan calculated based on total amount borrowed multiplied by the interest rate divided by 7, which is what I was led to believe this loan was.This would give total interest of {$220000.00} over the life of the loan instead I am currently paying at a rate of over {$7000.00} in interest for the life of the loan. My latest call to Discover verified this so that the effective interest rate for the life of the loan is approximately 44 %.
