Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Discover closed my credit card account XX/XX/20. They stated that I hadn't used the account in 6 months. I called and emailed Discover and asked them to reconsider their decision. Haven't gotten a reply. I have used this card in the past and was never late on payment. This closing of my account will most likely effect my credit score. Which is something that may effect other accounts.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, my purse and all of its contents were stolen from my shopping cart. Although I reported the incident to all of my credit cards, Discover conducted an investigation and concluded that no fraud was committed. I submitted all necessary documents including a police report. Despite the fact that we called Discover that same day and several days later to report the incident ( we have a XXXX Call logs support this ), Discover claims that no such report was made and that I am responsible for the {$900.00} charge plus interest. Numerous calls have had no result. Please refer to the attached documents for details.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I was a Discover customer for 8 years and used to love them. My account was always managed responsibly. I never had a late payment or went over the credit limit in 8 years. My last purchase on the card was XX/XX/XXXX. My last payment to the card was XX/XX/XXXX paying the full balance bringing the account to {$0.00}. Without notice, 11 months later, XX/XX/XXXX, Discover closed the account due to inactivity. I received notification from XXXX XXXX the account was closed and my credit score was impacted. I called Discover XX/XX/XXXX and requested for the account to be reopened. Discover explained the account was already closed so my only option was to open a new account. I had always been a good customer and I thought we had a great relationship. While most of the country is being impacted by the COVID19 crisis and needs their financial institutions to be there for them, Discover wasn't there for me.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I opened a fraud investigation with Discover in XXXX after noticing fraudulent XXXX and XXXX XXXX charges on my account. I am unable to provide exact dates due to the account being closed, only discover can access that at this point. I am also unable to provide exact amounts because it is multiple charges over a year and a half and I also do not have access to them any longer. Unfortunately I didn't realize them, but despite Discover 's " {$0.00} Fraud Liability Guarantee '' they denied my dispute after their 90 day investigation and charged me interest on the amount that wasn't even on my account during those 90 days. They did this despite insurmountable evidence that these charges were not made by me - most notably that I do not even have an XXXX XXXX account and the XXXX account I do have I had not even used for three months ( since XX/XX/XXXX XXXX and my payment method is through XXXX and connected to my XXXX XXXX XXXX debit card. I notified them immediately upon noticing the fraudulent charges but I was told, after them putting the thousands of dollars back on my card in XX/XX/XXXX, that they denied it because they felt that I should have been aware sooner, and that I had seen the XXXX charges ( not making the connection that my XXXX account and XXXX was on my XXXX debit not my discover credit line ) which allowed for it to go on for another month longer before I made the connection, in which I had paid my discover bill during that time so that makes me guilty?. It is embarrassing enough having not realized I was being taken advantage of and been stolen from for this long but to have my credit card company that has a {$0.00} Fraud Liability Guarantee tell me that I am the one to blame and I have to pay for this thieves rides and dinners is extremely disheartening and the reason me and my entire family will be closing our discover accounts and never using them again. They should not be advertising and gaining business on a {$0.00} Fraud Liability Guarantee if they are going to deny fraud claims that are clearly fraud and high amounts of it.

Consumer Complaint: I wrote two ( 2 ) letters to Mr. XXXX the CEO of Discover Card and two ( 2 ) complaints to the CFPB that because of the coronavirus I can not at present make payments! Not a word from him or Discover Card. In the last two ( 2 ) days there have been two ( 2 ) more dunning telephone calls! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! And it shows that he and his company are being unpatriotic and un-American at this time when so many millions of Americans, including me, are because fo the coronavirus unable to pay their bills! Shame on him and his company! Even the IRS has moved the tax deadline from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. He can XXXX well follow suit!

Subissue: Filed for bankruptcy
Consumer Complaint: My niece used my credit card without my permition a year ago. I reported it to Discover Card and sent them the police report and nothing was done to alleviate those charges from my discover credit card. In addition I filed chapter XXXX Bankruptcy on XXXX XXXX, and this account was included under the protection act of Chapter XXXX Bankruptcy. Under this act, my debt are protected by law. Doing this time, the debt would not be reported or collected. Discover Card reported debt that didn't belong to me, per the police report I submitted, stating that my niece stole it and ran up my credit card. I made a police statement concerning the matter. I would like Discover Card to delete this account from my credit file as soon as possible.

Consumer Complaint: I received a request from Discover Card of which I have been an account holder for over 15 years ( account ending XXXX ) for my IRS federal tax returns, for no apparent reasons. Discover disabled my online access making it difficult to continue making payments. I refused to provide them with my very confidential and sensitive personal tax returns because it is illegal, and they could not come up with any valid reason other than verifying my name and address, which I told them could have been verified by DMV records or any other records, but not IRS. Credit card company has no right to request my taxpayer information if I did not request a new account, credit limit increase, I was never on default, I was never over the credit limit. I have excellent standing with Discover, and after I refused to provide this extremely sensitive personal information such as a person 's tax returns, Discover closed my account. Nowhere in my card agreement it stated that credit card company can request your tax return information. Is it even legal for Discover or any other credit card company to do it after they already granted me credit over 15 years ago and I maintained spotless credit standing with them????
