Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: Disputed with the company on XX/XX/2020. Company received my disputes as it shows according to my certified mail receipts. It is now XX/XX/2020 and I have not received back from the company any information in regards to verification of these debts. The FCRA gives the company 30 days to respond. I have not received a response. This has been my 2nd attempt to resolve this matter with the creditors listed on my report and the credit bureau reporting this information. The bureau is in direct violation of my consumer rights because they have ignored my requests for there methods of verification and documentation used to validate these debts. XXXX has already removed several of these unverifiable accounts and yet XXXX and XXXX are still reporting some of them. XXXX in particular has not even responded to my dispute request at all. XXXX is continuing to claim that these accounts are certified or verified but has not provided me with any proof of the matter, although I requested it way more than 15 days ago. This is a violation.

I contacted the lender about a potential settlement in early XXXX, I was told that my account was sold to third party. A collection law firm. Then I contacted that law firm, in an attempt to help me get rid of this debt. Instead of offering me an opportunity to settle the account representative who identified herself as XXXX, told that, " Either you pay this debt in full, or we'll sent a request for garnishment to your job ... '' I kept on calling for payment option, every time I called, I'm given a new higher payment amount. I was told that I have accumulating late fees, interests, service charges accrued, being level on me, every single day that the account goes unpaid. And the latest updated charge as of XX/XX/XXXX, and per representative XXXX, the current amount that I owe on the account, is {$170000.00}.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Has Discover changed their payment policy since 2017? Are there now holds on payments to prevent thieves from making multiple payments in short period to exceed credit limit? This protects card holders as well as card companies. Discover allowed multiple payments in a very short time by thief who then exceeded credit limit.

Consumer Complaint: I paid off my Discover Credit card at the beginning of this year due to predatory interest rates. I was asked if I was sure and told it would be terminated by midnight. About a month later, I received a bill for a dollar and some change. I called to explain the account was paid, and it was confirmed it was indeed paid. I was then told they forgot to charge me and so I needed to pay in order to re-close the account. After paying more than twice the amount I charged, I said you can't reopen an account with an oops and begin charging again. I told it was closed, received a letter that it was closed and will not give them another dime. I continued to get bills with an increase of about a dollar a month. I called again and went thru the same mess. I then told them to stop billing me. I began receiving calls about the past due amount, went thru the same discussion again, and told them not to call my phone again. I've continued to receive bills and phone calls, with the most recent one being tonight at XXXX XXXX. from phone number XXXX, in which I told him to leave me the XXXX XXXX XXXX alone. This is harassment, This is debt XXXX, debt slavery, debt XXXX, and continued bulling through out the day and night. Please help me from this greedy, unethical, unprofessional, abusive, XXXX credit card company. I destroyed earlier bills but have copies of last two months. Please review the entire account, as the amount in the past 6 months were not consistent. I believe I destroyed a bill for {$10.00} and change, but now the amount due is lower. Check my entire history with these gansters!

Issue: Trouble using your card
Subissue: Credit card company won't increase or decrease your credit limit
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I called Discover to make an additional payment on my credit card. I was made aware at that time the Discover arbitrarily lowered my credit limit without ever telling me. Discover actions has had a dramatic negative impact on my credit score, credit worthiness, & resulting on my debt to income ratio to rise so significantly that when I recently purchased a vehicle I was provided a ridiculously high interest rate & currently not being able to refinance because of the negative impact Discover actions took on my credit. Ever since I had both my Discover credit cards I have an excellent payment history. I never paid either card late, I always pay more than the minimal amount, & I sometimes make 2 payments during the same billing cycle. I keep getting emails from Discover thanking me for my payment history & soliciting me to refinance my home with Discover. When I spoke to XXXX, XXXX, & 1 other female representative ( didn't document her name - unprofessional unlike XXXX XXXX XXXX ) I was advised my credit line was decreased because : 1 - To many inquiries - I explained the reasons for the inquiries was because I recently purchased 2 vehicles & everyone knows that when purchasing a vehicle at a dealership the consumer is obtained by a various of lenders. 2- I was told my credit limit was reduced because of alleged late car payments from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( 4 years ago ). Note : this same reporting was available to Discover when they issued me both Discover cards, one with a credit limit of {$5500.00} & the other {$3000.00}. I explained to Discover that the XXXX XXXX XXXX reporting was incorrect and that I was going to call XXXX XXXX as soon as I finished talking to them. I called XXXX XXXX and they confirmed that the credit reporting they were providing to XXXX was incorrect and that they were going to contact XXXX & order XXXX to start reporting accurately. Furthermore, XXXX XXXX XXXX told me they were going to send me a letter regarding this situation. I called Discover back ( this is when I spoke to the female that I didn't document her name ) and informed her that XXXX XXXX confirmed they were reporting incorrectly & my XXXX credit report will be updated & that they were going to mail me a letter confirming what I spoke about with the XXXX XXXX XXXX Representative. I offered the Discover Representative to forward them the letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX she confirmed she had no interest in that letter & I also advised her why there were recent inquiries on my credit report ( purchasing 2 new vehicles ) and again she displayed no interest acknowledging and accepting that to be the fact regarding the inquiries. I am submitting my XXXX credit report that I obtained on XX/XX/XXXX the is NOTHING negative on my XXXX credit report except the XXXX XXXX account from XXXX ( AGAIN Discover GRANTED ME 2 CREDIT CARDS with negative & inaccurate reporting was reflecting on my credit report ). Discover has damaged me financially and causing me to pay high monthly interest payments because I will be unable to refinance my vehicle ( purchased this month - XXXX ) because I spoke to my Credit Union yesterday after this incident with Discover & provided the my XXXX credit report and was told I will not be approved because by the approximate {$2500.00} credit limit decrease my debt to income ration is to high. AGAIN I'VE NEVER BEEN LATE, I PAY MORE THAN THE MINIMAL & SOMETIMES MAKE 2 PAYMENTS WITHIN THE SAME BILLING CYCLE, PAYMENT HISTORY WITH DISCOVER THAT WILL NEVER SUGGES THAT I WILL NOT PAY MY DISCOVER CARD. In closing when I spoke to the 3 Discover representatives they confirmed it a computer system that makes these decisions. The first 2 understood my position and agreed based on my information that I was providing them that there is no justifiable explanation for my credit card limit decrease but the 3rd Representative didn't care since my situation doesn't effect her.
