Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: Lost card when I had an account with them sent bank memo and police report advising of such. Post dated autopsy enrolled resulting in returned payment. They closed my account then advised they would be reopening. After months i continued to go back and fourth with every rep offering a different answer. I was advised allow 30 days that never happened. Then after months of following up instructed to reapply contrary to what I was informed by over 8 reps. I was advised I was blacklisted by a special department and transferred to the office of the President. The condescending representative from the office of the President stated she has no idea why my account was flagged as payments were kept up and the account paid off it should be removed she would have removed but they would not reopen Then they refuse to remove and have blacklisted me for life she stated. What kind of service are you running are you serious?

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem accessing account
Consumer Complaint: I have a custodial account and a personal account at discover. When I turned XXXX, Discover froze my custodial account pending my completion of forms to transfer that custodial account to being a personal account owned solely by me. This freeze prevented me from logging in to their online banking portal, also preventing me from accessing my personal account with which there was no issue. I called Discover customer support several times in XX/XX/2020, after which they claimed that they had mistakenly blocked access to my personal account and allowed me access to that account again. Recently, I have had my access to the personal account blocked again. Today ( XX/XX/2020 ) I called Discover again to ask for access to my personal account. I was told that, per Discover policy, I can not be allowed to access my personal account until the custodial account issue is resolved. This is not consistent with what I had been told previously, and regardless seems to me to be Discover preventing my access to an account with which there is no issue.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX, 2019, I discovered that multiple credit card accounts were made without my authorization. I reported this issue to all three credit reporting agencies and to the creditors who had issued fraudulent accounts in my name. Most accounts have been resolved and removed from my credit report. Unfortunately, Discover card company is continuing their attempt to collect the debt that I do not owe through collection company. The collection agency is a law firm named XXXX and XXXX XXXX. They are attempting to sue me for the debt that I do not owe. An official police report and FTC identity theft report were filed back last year.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: This credit card company does not know how to protect its consumers. During follow up calls they said the fact that we still have the card makes us liable for the disputed charges. Neither me or ANY of my family members have gone to 2 of those places in NJ where the transactions took place. If there will be a PROPER investigation we are confident that it can be proved we were never on those places at all. The credit card co does not give us any other information whats their evidence why we are responsible. We dont even know if these purchases were done online or in-person. This has been reported to the XXXX police.

Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Problem making or receiving payments
Consumer Complaint: When I had set up both my Credit Cards, roughly a half a year ago, all the information I put in was deemed correct, and It was all complete. Since then I HAVE DROPPED XXXX POINTS?! I have tried so many times trying to fix this situation. I have called both, XXXX & Discover. The automatic pay I have set up on both my banks is my Savings Account. I had PLENTY of money to make my payments. According to Discover ; Automatic Pay through my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( SAVINGS ACCOUNT ) is not available, so every month I had thought I have been paying on time, I was not. This is not my fault, how can they accept my Bank Information just to XXXX me over? I had no idea until I had a notification of my XXXX saying I was down 100Points! This is ridiculous. Each payment I had to pay would be in the range of 250-300, MAX. I had PLENTY of money to pay that, but because it was never able to go through, IT WAS DEEMED A LATE PAYMENT. This is unfair, and a very sad thing to find out before XXXX. Please help me and let me know on what I should do next. Thank you.
