Consumer Complaint: Not a duplicate. Additional new relevant information. I am an individual. This was prepaid by me, and not a third party. Discover : You have been notified about an ftc Id theft report. You were provided the report number. It would seem as though I never attached the document. Attached you will find the theft report along with the ftc guidelines as to how you are required to respond. When the account was opened there was an fraud alert on my account. You failed to take the nessisary steps to require the person opening the account provide you with unique identification. Upon requesting that you provide me with what unique identification you used to identify that it was me opening the account, you were not able to provide any. This account was opened fraudulently. You have said that you refuse to respond to any complaints that do not have new relevant information, while ignoring the fact that the account was opened fraudulently without unique identify information, which is required when there is a fraud alert on the credit file. Had you taken the steps to prevent fraud as was requested, then we would not be where we are today. You have been notified by XXXX that this account was the result of identity theft. Per the ftc once notified that there is fraud/identity theft by any cra, you are no longer allowed to report that information to any of the cra 's. That includes all places you are reporting. You violated my rights when you did not head the fraud alert, you violated my rights when you reported it. You are continuing to violate my rights by conspiring with the two remaining cra to not accept the Id theft report. You are suggesting that you will violate my rights by not responding to complaints recieved through the CFPB. You violated my rights by continuing to report the fraudulent account after being notified by transunion that it was the result of identity theft. You violated my rights by continuing to report after having been given a copy of the idtheft report number. And I am very certain there are additional rights you violated, like refusing to return my phone calls after a request for a call back was recieved. ( Yes, you actually responded that you recieved my voicemails more than once, and you decided you do not have to respond, despite the fact that ftc guidelines say otherwise. XXXX ) Stop all of it now.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: My student loans were recently in an in-school forbearance that ended in XX/XX/2021. Around XX/XX/2021, I made several phone calls to Discover Student Loans regarding financial hardship affecting my ability to repay these student loans as my in-school forbearance was close to ending. At that time, a Discover representative told me that as an option to help, they could offer me an interest only payment plan for up to a year if I was still suffering financial hardships. Upon my loan forbearance expiring, I made several phone calls around XXXX 2021 to request an interest only payment option on my account and the representative refused to honor this. I am suffering a financial hardship at this time as I am working full time but only earning minimum wage. I can not afford these monthly payments at this time.

Consumer Complaint: Due to the pandemic, my business revenue fell to nearly zero early and mid 2020. I contacted all creditors to make payment arrangements. During this time the Cares Act obligated creditors to report accounts as current ( or not to report any delinquency ) during the pandemic as long as I was in touch and worked out arrangements. Which I did with all creditors. However, three creditors DID report delinquent payments on my XXXX and XXXX credit reports, significantly impacting my rating and score. These three creditors include XXXX, Discover, and XXXX XXXX. When I found this out I disputed the incorrect data directly with XXXX and XXXX. They did not take any action to correct it. Then I contacted each one of the credit card companies to ask directly to correct these mistakes and NONE of them have gotten back to me. They have not even responded on way or the other. This has been over the past few weeks. I have not received any letters or emails with a resolution. Since conversations about this were by phone, I do not have any documentation directly from the credit card companies other than the data from them my XXXX and XXXX credit reports. Specifically, XXXX reported me 30 days past due on XX/XX/2020 on both XXXX and XXXX. Discover reported me past due on XX/XX/2020 on both reports. XXXX XXXX was the worst, they reported me XXXX past due for three months in a row : XX/XX/2020, XX/XX/2020, and XX/XX/2020 on both reports. My XXXX report is correct and shows no erroneous reporting.

Consumer Complaint: After graduation, I contacted the discover student loan department to get on a payment plan and was manipulated to believe that as long as a made the minimum payment my principal loan amount and interest rate would not fluctuate and I would be safe from negative amortization. This apparently was not the case. My original XXXX student loan with XXXX % interest rate, resulted in my paying a total {$14000.00}. The total break down of that amount is as follows. Final principal interest paid is {$9100.00} and total interest paid is {$5600.00}. In return, trying to keep up with the accruing interest and principal while I was making their " minimum payment '' caused me to become financially unable to get on a payment plan with federal student loans. the result was the treasury department garnishing my 2018 tax return, in which, they took money from my child dependents which is against the law. I understand paying interest but the end result when I was making minimum payments allowed Discover student loans, over the course of 3 years to take advantage of my minimum payment situation. They did not look out for the borrower and then end result was an interest rate of XXXX %. In my opinion, this was malicious. I was forced to pay off the entire loan while my young family had to suffer from lack of money due to what had occurred. Even when I called back discover student loans on the phone the representative was shocked when he looked at my account.
