Consumer Complaint: Discover Card has duplicated and, in one case quadrupled, charges on my account. I have called four times over three and a half weeks to resolve the issue. Each time getting transferred and left on hold. Discover says they are aware of the problem and working to fix it. The last person that I spoke to said she would fix it right then. Its been over a week and has not been fixed. Im currently on hold with them for the fifth time about this same issue. The charges add up to hundreds of dollars that has put me over the credit limit which was reported to credit bureaus and affecting my great rating. They are charging interest on these charges. Charging me double and quadruple for a single purchase is theft. I have notified them and asked them to fix it multiple times for three and a half weeks. They continue to charge and are not fixing it. My autopay accounts are getting declined because of these duplicate charges running my balance over the credit limit. The charges range from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX. There are 13 duplicate charges and one quadruple charge totaling hundreds of dollars.

Consumer Complaint: I have a Discover Credit Card. I have been reported by Discover for Late Payment ( Missed Payment ) to the Credit Bureau which has caused my Credit Score to drop significantly. I was reported to have missed two payments. My Due Date for the First month was XX/XX/XXXX. I made a payment on XX/XX/XXXX towards my balance. My statement date for the next billing cycle was XX/XX/XXXX. I was expecting that this payment will go towards my next billing due date : XX/XX/XXXX. However, it was not. Discover reported my account as having missed XXXX billing cycles. One for XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and the next one for XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX ). This has caused my Credit score to drop. I have spoken about this to them as well.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I had mailed the payment in. The account was not credited until I called and reported my missing payment. After I called about the missing payment the credit was applied to my account. I received another bill a few days later and sent in another payment. The payment was delivered with certified mail and a return receipt. I tried using my card to make a payment on something and the card was declined. I called today and was informed that the account was closed. They would not provide me with a reason why the account was closed. I also inquired about the payment that was delivered and not applied to my account and they told me they did not receive it. I told the agent they did because I have the return receipt card in my hand while it was delivered today. I requested my payment be returned and they would not comply. They also do not comply with federal laws. They are withholding my payment and closed the account

On the morning of XX/XX/22, I received a call from the credit card company, that this looked like a fraudulent card. They closed the account. Consumer Complaint: My Discover credit card, in good standing, was closed on XX/XX/2022 The bank claims that they were unable to verify my personal information within a set period of time, and can only open another card with them by applying for a new one. This has negatively impacted my credit by eliminating my oldest credit account. Since I still have a balance on this account, which has always been paid on time, my utilization is over 100 %. This was originally a secured card that had converted to an unsecured line along with a limit increase. I understand the importance of having accurate information for account holders, but the practice of random verification seems very strange considering the standing of my account and the fact that there had never been a report of fraudulant activity, or even a pattern that may be interpreted as fraudulant.

Consumer Complaint: I have been shopping around the past week for potential loan options for home improvements. On my credit report you will see many soft pulls which I agreed to as the websites ( through site disclaimers ) or contacts I was working with explicitly confirmed that the application or written consent was for a soft pull which would not impact my credit score. From a XXXX search, I clicked on a link and redirected to a website for Discover Home Loans. I proceeded to fill out information in the application. On the page where I must consent, one of the disclaimers that I had to agree to for them to obtain a credit report. However, I know from shopping around that obtaining a credit report does not warrant a hard pull to my credit, and I was initially cautious. Before I consented, I thoroughly browsed the site to see if anywhere they noted that agreeing to the consent form was in fact a hard pull, but there was no verbiage whatsoever that I could find. So I consented, and immediately after I got a notification of a change to my credit score. This was rather infuriating, as someone who has been pretty diligent to only focus on soft pulls, to be deceived by a site that did not fully and properly disclose that I was consenting to a hard pull of my credit. I called Discover and tried to press my case but they argued that unfortunately there was nothing they could do and I agreed to a hard pull of the credit report. However, I have a screenshot of their consent form area, and it says " obtain a credit report '' which does not by any means translate to a hard pull knowing that " obtain a credit report '' is ambiguous and could also mean a soft pull, like I have done with other lenders while shopping around. Having an education background in marketing, I find this to be a deceptive marketing practice, and I am guessing other may have had the same experience not knowing how to address this. I feel site must clearly designate whether an application will result in a hard or soft pull and a protection to consumers.
