Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I went on line to get a loan with Discover Personal Loans in XXXX. The loan was approved and I had the funds deposited into my daughters account and set up automatic payments to come out of the same account. The funds were deposited and a payment was taken out of the account. On the XXXX of XXXX my daughters bank account was charged a hold of {$880000.00} because Discover assumed there was fraud. The did not speak to me or do anything to verify that this loan was in fact good. I spoke to Discover personal loans on Friday morning and they assured me that they had reached out to my daughters bank and that they removed the fraud claim. My daughters bank, XXXX XXXX XXXX said that they told Discover that they had to receind the claim in writing. As of Monday morning XX/XX/22 they still had not sent the letter to XXXX XXXX XXXX. Discover said that they had to send the letter to their legal team before they could send it to XXXX XXXX XXXX. This whole mess could have been avoided of Discover had done their due diligence and spoke to me before filing the claim in the first place. They are quick to wrongfully assume something but slow to fix their mistake.

I informed XXXX that order was delivered and left outdoor in the rain which damaged the item and requested returned. XXXX fully agreed to return item, however XXXX never scheduled a picked up as agreed. I attempted numerous time to reach out to XXXX to get that matter sorted still no luck. I contacted My Discover Credit Card company to dispute that order of {$500.00}. Discover refused to dispute the amount. Discover Never attempted to properly address my request to dispute the charge. I was instead questioned numerous question and profiled as a liar. I stated having documentation from XXXX with statement that they will refund my money within 3-5 business days. Still Discover is not willing to reserve the charge. XXXX approved refund however Discover Credit Card is not willing to process that refund. Discover is discriminating based on phone voice and accent. As soon they notice you don't have their ( that weird American accent ) they automatically service you the way they want. I was service by 2 white female with rude and savage attitude. Consumer Complaint: I was charged a balance transfer to my Discover account on XX/XX/XXXX, for the amount of {$4900.00} - this is a fraudulent claim, and I never made this balance transfer. Ive called Discover every day since seeing the charge, and Ive received different information from each agent, with little help or reassurance from anyone. My credit is spectacular, and Ive been a customer since XXXX. Discover said someone possibly got ahold of one of the checks they mail out automatically, which I never have requested. I need help getting this resolved, and getting my money back.i did not make this balance transfer, or initiate it. I have no idea who or how this would have happened. It is fraud.

Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: I had no Idea my Discover account was closed until I checked my credit report. I haven't received notice in the mail, email, or by phone. I called to verify that the account was actual closed today ( XX/XX/2022 ) and a representative from Ohio stated it was closed. I asked for the reasoning and she stated that there wasn't one. She stated they do routine account checks and there was a business decision made to close the account. The representative could not provide any reasoning. This is odd. I never missed a payment, I do not max out my card and I over pay on it regularly. I have no idea why Discover would close my account. I would like my credit account re-opened! This really bothers me because I called in prior to this about a particular charge on my account that was fraudulent. Discover reversed the temp credit and deemed it valid because they said I couldn't provide anything saying that that was a refund owed to me by the company. I further explained to them that the company that scammed me would not provide me any sort of documentation like that. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Discover-Told me I couldnt receive a credit because I did not have anything staying there was something owed to me. I couldn't believe this. As a consumer, you automatically are insured with your credit companies. They are supposed to make sure you are protected against fraud. I asked to speak to a supervisor. XXXX XXXX with Discover said there wasn't one available and they would give me a called back within 48hours. I never received any sort of follow up. Next thing I know, my account is closed. This seems to me like discrimination. I would like to further this issue.

Issue: Advertising and marketing, including promotional offers
Subissue: Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, at approximately XXXXXXXX XXXX I applied for the Discover Cash Back Credit Card. My reason for doing so was specifically to take advantage of the advertised 15 month 0 % APR for purchases and balance transfers, to simultaneously consolidate my debt and build my credit. During the application process, I was experiencing performance issues on the website, with long delays between each stage of the application. Near the final stage of the application, a screen came up informing me that the advertised introductory APR would not apply, and I was instead offered an alternative, very high APR, not at all close to what was advertised. I had no intention of agreeing to this offer, but due to either input lag and/or website error, this offer was accepted without my consent or agency. I called Discover immediately after to dispute this and ask that the involuntarily accepted offer be voided without having a negative effect on my credit card, but I was informed by the representative that my only option was to close the account and no matter what this would be listed on my credit report. I am writing to the XXXX XXXX office to ask that this matter be reviewed. As an XXXX raised in poverty, it has taken me a very long time to build up my career and credit, and I don't wish my progress to suddenly and drastically be reduced due to a technology error. I had no intention of accepting the exploitative offer that replaced the advertised introductory offer, and I would like for this application, account and credit check to be entirely voided from all my credit reports without any penalty to myself.

Consumer Complaint: The moment I disputed a billing error in XX/XX/2021, Discover not only furnished non payment to the credit agencies, which is a violation of 15 USC 1692c, but they also closed my account which is violation of 12 CFR 1026.13 ( d ) in XX/XX/2021. They didn't give notice until after the adverse action was done, which is violation of 12 CFR 1026.9 ( c ) ( 2 ) ( i ) and did not reflect my rejection on my account which is a violation of 12 CFR1026.9 ( h ) ( 1 ) AND 12 CFR 1026.9 ( h ) ( 2 ) ( i ). I informed Discover that they were willfully and negligently violating 15 USC 1637 open-end credit and that I DEMAND they reopen my account as the beneficiary of such account. They still did not comply. This account was created from a consumer credit transaction and therefore, I DEMAND my dividends for such an account.
