Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: I opened a new savings account on XX/XX/2022 and deposited {$24000.00}. I made another deposit of {$1000.00} on XX/XX/2022. The funds were removed IMMEDIATELY from the account of my transferring bank. However, nearly two weeks later I still have no access to my money because Discover claims they have to " verify '' the funds. Both withdrawals have already posted to my account and Discover refuses to release my funds or close the account and give me back my money. XXXX has already removed the money from my account and yet XXXX Discover claims it still needs to be verified. I have also incurred several late charges because I made payments to my credit card using this new account and the payments were returned. This has caused irreparable damage to my relationships with my other banks.

I would like to know whats the status if this account and if a 1099-C was filed for this account. Also note that if your company has filled out a 1099-C form and its continuing any kind of collection activity as defined under 31 U.S. Code 3711 ( e ) by performing any of the following conduct ; administrative offset, tax refund offset, referral to private collection contractors, referral to agencies, or pursuing litigation, you are committing tax fraud and should be reported to the IRS for a fraudulent financial gain. I have reason to believe that XXXX XXXX, XXXX is not in possession of any substantiating evidence to lay claim to this alleged debt that they are attempting to collect using unlawful extortionate means. If Discover Bank can provide me with proof of claim for this alleged debt, such as the original instrument of indebtedness in its original form and the accounting for credit account ending in XXXX, Id gladly make arrangements to settle this account in full. I am aware that billing Statements/proof of address are not proof of claim. If Discover Bank refuses to produce any documentary evidence as defined under 15 U.S. Code 44, I will thereafter consider this matter between us to have been legally and financial settled. Upon the refusal to produce this documentary evidence I am also demanding that all fraudulently reported negative information is deleted and updated to paid as agreed from all credit reporting agencies immediately to prevent further harm to my financial reputation. If the requested information is not provided and XXXX XXXX, XXXX continues their unlawful collection efforts, XXXX XXXX, XXXX shall be held criminally liable for aggravated identity theft and violating 18 U.S. Code 894 for using unlawful extortionate means in the collection of an extension of credit. Consumer Complaint: Discover card has not given a good reason why they allowed XXXX XXXX to steal money from my account. Also I have proven that the work from the merchant was incomplete and not done correctly and the quality of work was inferior. The balance on the Discover card for the amount in dispute will not be paid to Discover card. Discover need to follow the rules of Regulation E. Regulation E being the consumer protection rules from the Federal Reserve Bank. Discover card is not above the law and needs to comply with this law. I have sent all the proof and pictures and documents needed to correct this issue, but Discover Card does not want to comply. Again the credit card balance of the disputed amount will not be paid by me. XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: My credit score - through XXXX XXXX - is showing I missed a payment on my discover card. There is no missed payment on my discover card and I have not missed any payment to my knowledge. I have been paying on time. I am not sure if Discover is reporting this or if XXXX XXXX is pulling wrong information. However, I wanted to get ahead of this and dispute it as reporting on my credit score. The payment history page on the website of Discover is incomplete, however, I was never notified that I missed a payment or that a payment was due. I have had issues with Discover in the past, in that my card has been frozen and unused for over a year but the payments are inconsistent. The amount constantly changes and sometimes the bill does not post. This may have been what happened in XXXX or XXXX. There was no amount owed for the month on my account and therefore, I did not pay. This should not be reflected on my credit score. Please contact me at XXXX if you have any questions. XXXX XXXX

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/2022 - I opened an online savings account with Discover. I registered for the online platform etc. XX/XX/2022 - I deposited a cashier 's check in the amount of {$18000.00}. This is the majority of the funds I inherited from my father upon his death, which occurred on XX/XX/2022. I opened the savings account specifically for this purpose. XX/XX/2022 - I'm not able to log into my account and I get an email about unusual activity on my account. I called customer service and was told by multiple people that my account was closed for no reason and that Discover was keeping my money for " up to '' 60 days. I have not received any additional communication and now my access to the account online has been shut off. This feels very much like bank theft - and what am I supposed to do if I need my savings?
