Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, A company named XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with the following address : XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and the following people behind it XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, aka XXXX XXXX, on the internet which is a get-rich-quick scheme was pushed me into paying {$5000.00} using a professional salesperson during a zoom call for what they advertised as " one-on-one coaching to sell on XXXX, '' which I later figured was just a pre-recorded course that was also available online for free. I lost {$5000.00} + {$20000.00} following their advice. I contacted my credit card company, Discover, on XXXXXXXX XXXX and disputed the charge. Before that, I contacted the seller, XXXX XXXX, and told them they falsely advertised and pushed me into paying for something that was a total lie, but they ignored me and even cut my access to the course. Discover initially returned my money, but then the seller sent them a letter with forged evidence of my participation in the so-called XXXX group to show that I received coaching which was photoshopped and it was not my participation. Discover bank based their judgment on this forged letter, and although I told them that it was a forged document, they told me that the seller should agree to give my money back. Considering the scam nature of this business and their forging evidence practices, the business did not agree to pay me back, and I hold Discover responsible for this since they based their judgment on a forged document and don't want to get involved since they only care about the {$5000.00} that was spent using their credit card.

Consumer Complaint: I am XXXX XXXX and I am submitting this complaint myself and there is no third party involved. DISCOVER BANK has violated my rights as a consumer. I sent them a XXXX & XXXX on XX/XX/2022 and XX/XX/2022 asking them to cease all unfair communication through any medium but they continue to violate me by communicating with third parties and consumer reporting agencies. I sent them a Debit Validation letter on XX/XX/2022 asking for all documentary material including account ledger, balance sheets, accounting sheets, signed credit applications, XXXX XXXX Agreement and anything else relating to this alleged debt for consumer view and validation. They have failed to respond to my validation request by declining to provide an audit trail. They sent statements only that do not tell where the charges and credits originated or when. DISCOVER has reported inaccurate information to the consumer report agencies which is unfair to me because I have not been able to validate this alleged debt. This has caused me much mental stress because this has damaged my credit. They have harassed and abused me by using obscene language stating I owe this alleged debt. They have sent letters threatening to send me to an attorney which further violates my consumer rights.

Consumer Complaint: There is a billing error on my discover statements that were sent to me. I have notified Discover of the billing error thats on the account. A consumer credit transaction took place when this account was opened. I used my credit card Pursuant to Truth In Lending Act 15 USC 1602 ( l ) the definition of a credit card is a card, plate coupon book, or other credit device to obtain money, property, labor or services on credit. The credit card has an open end credit plan because there are repeated transactions that takes place when I use the credit card. There was an uninformed use of credit with this transaction and this is unfair billing practices. Discover failed to give an adequate notice Pursuant to 15 USC 1602 ( k ) ( k ) The term adequate notice, as used in section 1643 of this title, means a printed notice to a cardholder which sets forth the pertinent facts clearly and conspicuously so that a person against whom it is to operate could reasonably be expected to have noticed it and understood its meaning. Such notice may be given to a cardholder by printing the notice on any credit card, or on each periodic statement of account, issued to the cardholder, or by any other means reasonably assuring the receipt thereof by the cardholder. I made an uninformed decision because the pertinent facts of this credit card agreement was not clear and conspicuous to me and to which I could understand its meaning. This would result in unauthorized use on my credit account Pursuant to 15 USC 1602 ( p ) ( p ) The term unauthorized use, as used in section 1643 of this title, means a use of a credit card by a person other than the cardholder who does not have actual, implied, or apparent authority for such use and from which the cardholder receives no benefit. Consumer Complaint: Hello, and thank you for taking the opportunity to help out with my concern. I wanted to please reach out regarding an incident where Discover potentially may have mistakenly reported me late by accident. When I logged in to make a payment on my Discover card, I was offered a payment plan that I would lower my interest rate and decided to naturally take advantage of it to lower my payments. A promise to lower my payments, as well as give me a lower interest rate plus allowing me to still have the card open an active allowing me to spend if needed. When I set up the installment plan, it would not allow me to modify anything beyond that. I was unable to add the payments that I am familiar with to update it to the correct checking account. I attempted to rectify the situation by modifying the bank account however because it was a schedule payment under that special financial plan it did not allow me to modify the banking details. Instead, when the payment was rejected, I had already processed the payment the same day to bring the account current as I have never been late before. When Discover proposed the payment plan, I was trying to make a payment earlier on to bring the account current. However, when the payment plan was set up, Discover did not allow me to make modifications, and instead bundled both the past due, and the bundled payment for the plan together, and when that payment was rejected, I was reported late, which is completely unfair.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX, XXXX I received an invitation from Discover it credit card company, informing me that I am amongst the few to qualify for this offer. And thanks to my credit history and hard work, they are inviting me to apply ( They included a special invitation code word with the offer. ) I have access to XXXX XXXX dollars in credit through various other credit card companies. My credit is excellent. And so before I decided to officially apply, Discover it had sent me an email also to prequalify without impact to my credit score. So I did prequalify and again they assured me that I pre-qualified and encouraged me to apply. But when I did officially apply, they came back with a denial. I was shocked and felt extremely deceived! The worst part is this is the second time they did this to me in one year. From the research I've done, Discover it is doing this to many other XXXX veterans and people of XXXX. This is exactly what XXXX XXXX was doing also. I've spent countless hours trying to figure out why they denied me. No one can tell me, and they simply told me to wait for some letter to arrive in the mail. After a couple of more phone calls I got to speak with some supervisor telling me that I was denied because I had a couple of credit inquiries on my report.

Consumer Complaint: I was given permission to discuss the credit card account for my daugher, XXXX XXXX XXXX I opened up a Discover card for my daughter, XXXX XXXX and am the one responsible for payments. Approximately on XX/XX/2022, I called Discover customer service and requested that this account be closed because 1 ) Although I had submitted a payment of approximately XXXX dollars on XX/XX/XXXX, it had still not posted as of the time I called, which resulted in declined transactions, and 2 ) I would be required to call in after I made a payment, and I thought this was excessive, so I requested the card to be closed. When I talked to discover, I was informed that I would get a refund of {$220.00} because I had submitted payments which total exceed the credit limit, and thus I had a credit on the account. However, when I called Discover again, I was told that the refund had not been submitted. At this time, I had informed Discover that a series of refunds had been credited to the account, these refunds are 1 ) XXXX, 2 ) XXXX and 3 ) a pending refund of XXXX. At this time, I had fulfilled my payment obligation of the {$500.00} credit and the {$500.00} credit that was extended to my daughter was fufilled through my personal payments that was made to this card, thus any refunds that were made to the card would result in credits, thus these credits should also be refunded to me. However, the representative I talked to disagreed and told me that I would not be entitled to these refunds. This is actually stealing money from me because I had already fulfilled the obligation of the {$500.00} credit that was extended to my daughter, thus any credits should be refunded to my daughter. At the time these refunds were credited to the Discover card, the {$500.00} credit had already been fulfilled and these refunds resulted in credits to the card. Thus, my daughter is entitled to the XXXX credit which was originally a credit to the card, in addition to the refunds to the card, which amounts to {$160.00} thus my daughter is entitled to a refund of {$390.00}. I have attached an account summary showing the available credit of {$500.00}, in addition to the refunds that was applied to this card account. The refund of {$96.00} is pending, approved, and on its way to the discover card account.
