Issue: Closing your account
Subissue: Company closed your account
Consumer Complaint: Before receiving the card, I never received a contract in fact I got 3 contracts over a year after I received the card then they closed the account. Discover closed my account and reflected negatively on my consumer report. After many revocation of reporting request under 15 usc 1692 it states that they can not report to the credit reporting agency without expressed permission. Also under sec e it states A debt collector, in collecting a debt, may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation. since discover is a financial service it ca not be a debt collector yet continues to mislead me. It has stated it closed my account because they can which translates to adversary action and discrimination especially since the account was closed in response to a serious inquiry. This company has cost me employment, careers, car loans, mortgages, and educational services. They have told me you are the little guy so they can get away with anything. They have sent me an adverse action denial letter an entire year after an application was placed in my name without my consent or acknowledgment this again violating my consumer rights and my civil liberties. When does this end?

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: In the summer of 2022 a dispute arose from fraudulent transactions on the account in which Discover had temporarily reversed. Discover also sent out a new card and there has been no issues of fraud since that time. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a call from a Discover fraud investigator, asking a series of leading questions, lying in some circumstances and indicating what she was going to do. She was also trying to get me to admit that I myself actually made the purchases that had been claimed as fraud. I refused to admit such an absurdity. Furthermore, the next day, Discover had charged back the following transactions to my account : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I called Discover yet again, the Fraud Protection Unit then sent me out an Discover Affidavit to fill out and send back to them. I did so and they now refuse to honor their own affidavit they send out to their customer as the police refuse to investigate such a case. Lastly, Discover has been very rude and aggressive on the phone, not helpful, and not willing to resolve the issue amicably. The result of the these chargebacks has put my account over the limit as well. I have continued to make the minimum monthly payment until I can get this issue resolved. Discover has refused to make any adjustments and blamed me for the charges. I do not have a copy of the affidavit as it was an original affidavit with the Discover letterhead on it. Discover has indicated to me that they in fact have received such document from me. ...

Consumer Complaint: I had a fraud incident in XXXX of 2022. The Discover fraud was immediately investigated and the case has been closed with the funds refunded. There is no mention of fraud being reported, investigated, or closed anywhere on my account. I have attempted to get Discover to email or send me a letter saying I reported fraud for over an week and they are refusing to. I need this letter for the police and Discover is refusing to provide it. The only records I have is my statement showing initial purchase and later refund with no mention of fraud which the police have told me does not suffice.
