Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I placed two trades of {$250.00} for two cryptocurrencies using Coinbase ( the app ) : {$250.00} of XXXX and {$250.00} of XXXX. There were issues with my purchase of one of the currencies, XXXX, as the app said the order failed multiple times. On my third try, the purchase was processed. The morning of XX/XX/XXXX, I noticed an extra, 3rd {$250.00} trade in XXXX was processed over night on XX/XX/XXXX. To be clear, I did not place this trade. I reached out to Coinbase via their online ticket system on XX/XX/XXXX, as they have no live phone support. As of XX/XX/XXXX, I still have not heard back from Coinbase support. I attempted to call and speak with a representative using the only way they say you can contact them - to freeze your account. My plan was to talk with a representative about the situation without my account being frozen. Unfortunately, support from Coinbase was still not a human being, my account is now frozen, and I still have no answer as to why an extra {$250.00} trade was placed in my ( now frozen ) account. I feel very frustrated by this entire situation. Coinbase made an erroneous trade, has not responded in over 1.5 months to my ticket, and now my account is frozen because I was hoping to finally talk to a person at Coinbase about this issue.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/22 I closed out all positions with Coinbase. Was going to wait til finds cleared and transfer back to my bank. That evening the account was hacked and Bitcoin was purchased. I tried to contact Coinbase but they have no Customer Service personnel. So I filled out an online report on the XXXX. Later that day, I got a call from what turned out to be scammers and gave them access to my computer. I know that sounds XXXX, but I have let other companies do remote access. The put in a 2 factor authorization and then bought Bitcoin and tried to put it in another wallet. I got an email from Coinbase asking if the transaction was legit and they were holding it for 3 days.. I informed them it was not legit. I believe the money is still there as the scammers kept contacting me constantly. I finally blocked all numbers. I cant get back into my account as I cant access the 2 factor. Ive emailed and filled out complaint forms and Coinbase has sent nothing but they are working on it. Its been over a month. Had close to XXXX with them. Again, logically it make sense that the scammers cant get the money either. They kept trying to convince me they were Coinbase employees and wanted another remote session. Coinbase was notified within their 72 hour window. I just want my money back obviously.

Issue: Managing, opening, or closing your mobile wallet account

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I have accounts on both Coinbase and Coinbase Pro which I opened in XX/XX/XXXX. In total I bought roughly XXXX xrp using both Coinbase and Coinbase pro. Back on XX/XX/XXXX I transferred all of my xrp off of my Coinbase account onto my private wallet and that same day went to transfer all of the remaining xrp off of my Coinbase Pro account. The xrp immediately transferred to my private wallet from my Coinbase account however I was sent an email that the transfer from Coinbase Pro to my wallet could take 72 hrs for verification. I thought ok no big deal. On XX/XX/XXXX I went to check my private wallet and was surprised/nervous to find my private wallet had not received my latest transfer request from Coinbase Pro. After several attempts to login to my Pro account and getting incorrect password I finally selected forgot password to have them email me a new one. I never got an email so I tried a few more times. Still nothing. Thats when I reached out to Coinbase support for help. They told me they would review my case and get back to me in 4-5 business days. When they got back to me I discovered someone had hacked my account and changed my email, password and phone number linked to my account. Support asked me to verify myself by logging into my account even after I told them that was my problem in the first place, I cant! Then Coinbase Support quit responding to my emails. I have no one to talk to and they refuse to respond to my emails ( which have totaled over 18 emails now ). My two main concerns are 1 ) I would like my remaining xrp 2 ) I need my account unlocked and restored so that I dont lose my airdrop of Spark tokens from XXXX XXXX which would be distributed to this account over the next 2 years. Please help me with this, I have lost all faith in Coinbase and their lack of support

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021, I attempted to transfer approximately {$70000.00} of XXXX XXXX to Coinbase using the address supplied by Coinbase. The funds were removed from my transferring account, but were never deposited into my Coinbase account. Coinbase has no customer support and despite all my numerous attempts to contact them, I only get robotic emails stating that they are looking into the problem. There is no way to get a live person on the phone to address the issue. At this point, it is apparent that they have misappropriated the funds, and I am pursuing whatever recourse I have to collect my funds. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Consumer Complaint: I have an account with Coinbase for crypto currency trading. One of the reasons I chose Coinbase was because it is US based and offers FDIC-backed insurance. On XX/XX/2021, my Coinbase account was hacked. Coinbase has no phone support and only provides email support to it's clients. I opened several tickets with their customer support since XX/XX/2021 but they didn't act promptly. Most of their responses just automated responses. They didn't show any seriousness in looking into the incident. I reported the matter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ( SEC ) and Attorney General office. SEC adviced me to also report this to your office, hence I am writing this email. Finally, on XX/XX/2021 my access to account was restored but Coinbase disabled transactions on my account. No withdrawals are allowed. I have opened several tickes since then. I am so frustrated with Coinbase that I want to close my account and transfer my funds to another company. My hard earned money is being held by coinbase. But, since Coinbase has disabled all my withdrawls, I am not able to do so. I have close to {$10000.00} in my account and Coinbase is not allowing me to access my account. It should be illegal to stop customer access to his funds for so long and provide no update. Since time is of essence, I am seeking your intervention so that Coinbase takes this matter seriously. Here the some of the tickets I opened with them regarding issue with withdrawls : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 an unauthorized access to my coinbase account occurred. I only discovered it when I was notified that a transfer from my bank account in the amount of {$28000.00} had been initiated. ( I received an email to that effect ). The unauthorized access was a result of a FAILURE IN COINBASES SECURITY AS THE REQUEST FOR XXXX AUTHENTICATION CODE WAS NEVER RECEIVED NOR WAS THE EMAIL ASKING ME TO AUTHORIZE ACCESS TO A DEVICE. Once I became aware of the unauthorized access I logged into my account and discovered an illegal attempt was made to transfer {$28000.00} from my linked bank account. I also discovered a XXXX account added to my account that was not mine ( I do not use XXXX ). I deleted the fraudulent XXXX account, and immediately. I notified coinbase following their instructions to disable my account and reported the fraudulent attempted transactions. I then contacted my bank and instructed them NOT to honor the fraudulent attempt to transfer funds. I was successful in preventing the fraudulent transfer, and received acknowledgement from coinbase that my account has successfully been disabled and NO FURTHER ACTIVITY WOULD BE ALLOWED. The following day the request for {$28000.00} arrived at my bank and was refused on my instructions. Clearly coinbase did not stop the activity even after the account was disabled. Shortly thereafter I received a notice from coinbase demanding that I fund {$28000.00} fraudulent transfer and if I did not provide the funds within 10 days, coinbase would sell my assets. I responded by explaining the breach once again, however my response was ignored and onXX/XX/2021 coinbase sold my remaining assets and in fact continues to demand I fund the fraudulent attempted transfer. I am unable to speak with anyone at coinbase and in fact there is no way to communicate with anyone at coinbase. All attempts to contact them have resulted in automated responses that do not address the issue. Further investigation by me concluded there were no viruses on my machine nor was my phone every out of my possession, so clearly the breach of my account was due to a FAILURE IN COINBASES SECURITY. What steps can I take to correct this issue and regain the assets that coinbase took from me illegally?

The value of my account is approximately {$110000.00} USD as of now. For an unknown reason and not upon my request I am locked out of my account in every way. I was locked out of my account in mid XXXX and tried to fix the issue thinking it was something on my end, but after a lot of research i realized it was coinbase that locked me out, I made 2 formal claims regarding this issue. I made these purchases on the coinbase app.

Issue: Managing, opening, or closing your mobile wallet account

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I opened a Coinbase account and made deposits from my bank totaling {$7000.00}, to purchase certain cryptocurrencies that Coinbase supports. On or about XX/XX/XXXX I discovered that I could not access my account because Coinbase had locked me out and declared the account " Restricted. I submitted a support ticket to Coinbase making them aware of the issue. During a phone call with a " supposed Coinbase regulator '' remotely, he took over my computer remotely, accessing various files and uploaded my drivers license onto Coinbas 's recovery protocol. On XX/XX/XXXX Coinbase notified me that " Your Coinbase account recovery is successful, with no explanation why the account was frozen in the first place. On XX/XX/XXXX, I tried to access my Coinbase account, only to discover the account is restricted again. I had had no activity in the account between the two lock outs. I submitted a support ticket and Coinbase responded on XX/XX/XXXX with directions to click on a link that required me to pay {$490.00} to recover my account. I refused to the demand to make a payment. They responded by lowering the amount to {$380.00}! I immediately initiated another support ticket to Coinbase with copies of the the bizarre demands to pay money to recover my own account and my own assets. Coinbase has not responded with my request for support. If XXXX XXXX or XXXX XXXX tried this tactic with its clients, they would be shut down in a minute. I have no sense of control of my account or the my assets. This is America and in America we call this type of business practice as an unlawful, deceptive, fraudulent violation that demands regulation and punishment. Sadly, I don't believe that I am the only victim of what appears to be a one way scam. I am hoping that the Consumer Finance Protection Agency is able legally help rectify my situation and regain my liberty to access my own assets. Thank you for your attention to my request for your help in this matter. XXXX XXXX
