Consumer Complaint: I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX in 2007. Not until I pulled my credit report two weeks ago did I find out that I had over {$15000.00} in private loans in collections. I never knew I had these loans nor that I took these loans out to pay for school? I keep up on my federal student loans and have them in a income contingent plan. I 'm not sure how I will pay these loans off but I also had no idea I had these loans. If I would have known in the beginning I would have never agreed to private loans.

Issue: Disclosure verification of debt
Subissue: Not given enough info to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I recently pulled my credit report and had XXXX acct listed as being in collections, I wanted to gather information about the debt so I contacted the collections agency listed on my CR. The company Jefferson Capital XXXX informed me that I needed to speak with their collections division XXXX. Upon speaking with the Rep assigned to my case she informed me that since I requested debt validation when they called me XXXX that my acct was in dispute and could discuss my acct unless I sent a email saying I no longer dispute, I complied with the request in an effort to gather further information. The Rep told me she would call me back once the dispute code was removed by another dept, before the call ended I asked her why they never provided debt validation to me she said it was due to them not being able to verify my address. I told her that seemed odd seeing that they had my phone number and their client had pulled my CR several times in the months before my request, she was unable to provide valid reasoning and the call ended. This conversation took place on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX she never called me back so I called her and was informed the required actions had not taken place and she would call back once it did, again I complied but at XXXX est I called back and spoke with a different rep named XXXX who informed me that the previous rep neglected to inform me that they did request debt validation from Jefferson Capital Systems and within 2 days of my request XX/XX/XXXX, Jefferson Capital Systems advised XXXX XXXX to cease collections activities immediately as they could not validate the debt. It has been 5 months since my request yet Jefferson Capital Systems continues to knowing reporting negative information on my CR causing me to be denied credit. I emailed both companies shortly after ending my call with XXXX at XXXX XXXX and outlined the law as stated in the Fair credit reporting act and ask them to stop their activity instead of doing the right thing they had a rep contact me today in an attempt to collect the debt.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX University under the XXXX XXXX umbrella sent me to collections for a debt of {$14000.00}. The school was later sued by your institution forcing them to shut down and sale all of their locations. The collection agency named Jefferson Capital System LLC is trying to collect a large sum of money for a school that lied not only to me but on me. XXXX University attempted to get me to take out a loan from XXXX for {$4700.00} at a 9.9 % interest rate to pay for one quarter. One of their representatives later told me I should take out a genesis loan for the amount of {$11000.00} which would cover the rest of the semester. I refused and explained to them I did n't have the money to pay for a loan. XXXX University locked me out of my online classes and school assigned email accounts. I do n't owe for classes I did not take nor did I finish school. They sent me to collection for not taking out a loan which is something I do not understand.
