Consumer Complaint: I paid a charged off account that I had with XXXX in the amount of {$740.00}. The first payment was made XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$50.00} and the second was made on XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$690.00}. Towards the end of XXXX I received a notice that a new collections account was reported on my credit reports from Jefferson Capital. Jefferson Capital shows that I owe {$740.00}, since apparently they purchased the account from XXXX. This is not accurate as I paid XXXX in XXXX. XXXX sent me an email after an inquiry from me telling me that they would forward the payment in XXXX. I contacted them today, XX/XX/XXXX, and now XXXX is telling me that the payments are pending ( which is not true as I have proof that they posted from my bank accounts ). Makes no sense to be pending since they were made over a month ago. They say somehow Jefferson Capital should have access to that ( which makes no sense since I paid it on XXXX 's website ). Jefferson Capital says they should have received the payments since they were paid so long ago. I don't know who is in the right and in the wrong but I know that my account has been paid and it's now being reported incorrectly on my credit report as a new Jefferson Capital collections account with a balance even though it was paid before Jefferson ever showed up on my credit report. This is not accurate and needs to be resolved by both companies.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: From XXXX until early XXXX, unbeknownst to me, someone was using my identity in Iowa while I was residing in Illinois. These individuals got payday loans, opened up cell phone accounts, credit cards, etc. After finding out this was happening, I alerted the authorities and credit bureaus. Also, the companies that were on my credit report where the fraudulent accounts were opened. One of those companies was XXXX. I have been a customer of XXXX XXXX XXXX for nearly a decade, prior to that I was a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I have never been with XXXX or made a purchase of any kind from them. XXXX knew this, and XXXX was provided all requested documentation to show this was identity theft. I was assured by XXXX this was taken care of and I would have no issues. And yet I have a collection agency now trying to violate the law and collect on a debt not owed. Without any prior contact they have illegally placed this on my credit report violating provisions of the FCRA and the FDCPA.

Consumer Complaint: Jefferson Capital System has illegally reported this unverifiable debt to the credit bureaus without properly validating the debt. I have requested a letter of validation and they have failed to send. They have also submitted to the bureaus an address I have never resided. Furthermore, I am not liable for this debt and I do not have a contract with this company and did not agree to do business with them, so please remove this erroneous information from my credit profile.

Consumer Complaint: it seems between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, a new account in collections was added to my report. The collection agency is JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM. The original creditor was XXXX XXXX XXXX. I declared bankruptcy in XXXX and this was part of the creditors who were included in the bankruptcy. At the time, XXXX dropped my credit by a large amount with one creditor. Now, 15 years later, they have dropped me with the other creditor. What can I do about this? XXXX was my young daughter 's cell phone provider. She is now an adult with XXXX children. What can be done about this besides paying them off. I am in a XXXX from XXXX now and money is a problem. Also, that bill with XXXX i over XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX dropped it. So who is this new creditor, JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM? And how can they legally drop my credit score by this large amount when the debt was resolved with the bankruptcy?
