Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I sent a fax request for verification on XX/XX/2019 I sent a certified letter for verification as of XX/XX/2019 I had not received any communication from this company ( Jefferson Capital systems ), when I requested information the tried to send it to another collection agency to collect but I also sent a request to that company as well which ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). XXXX responded I have attached a copy of there response. Jefferson did not respond so I reached out to them to request that they cease collection and remove this account from my report since they didnt send verification nor respond within the allotted time for fair debt collection. I was advised by XXXX they he was not able to make that decision so I ask for a manager I was then transferred to XXXX who I advised of the situation and my request and I was told that I need to call back to speak with the correct department which I was under the impression they were the department since they both made attempts to collect the debt.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I had an account with XXXX, which went overdue and they sent the debt out to a collection agency. This agency, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, WA XXXX contacted me on XX/XX/XXXX. I paid them the amount of XXXX via single-entry ACH debit on that same date, XX/XX/XXXX. I received and still have the receipt for this payment. Since that time, 5 years ago, several other agencies have sent letters and contacted me in an attempt to collect this same debt from XXXX. When told I had already paid, and upon seeing proof, they would suggest I call XXXX and stated XXXX needed to take it off their records so the debt would not continue to be reported and sold to other collection agencies. I have repeatedly contacted XXXX to no avail. I just received a notice from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX dated XX/XX/XXXX, which stated the debt was so old I could not be sued for it nor could it be reported to any credit agency, but they offered 2 options to resolve the amount of the debt ( which had been paid in XXXX ). I am beyond frustrated and confused how this single debt from XXXX could last this many years, being sent to different collection agencies, especially considering it has been paid. I would like this matter resolved immediately.

Consumer Complaint: Back in XX/XX/XXXX I was with XXXX XXXX, I called and talked to them to cancel my service, since I was no longer under contract, I paid my last bill. I got a letter in the mail my account was closed this was also in late XX/XX/XXXX, the following month I got a bill from them for the amount of XXXX in a demand letter I refused to pa it, the account was closed and then sold to a different collection company, within 1 yr it was sold to XXXX XXXX XXXX, this was in XX/XX/XXXX, they are saying that it was in XX/XX/XXXXwhich it was not. After I asked to be put on the do not call list the calls stopped, I was getting at least 15 to 20 calls a day. Now this is now XX/XX/XXXX and they refuse to remove it from my credit report, I have informed them that once this account was sold it was no longer my account. They still refuse to remove it from my credit report as a collection debt. And it is hurting my credit score. I have disputed it over 5 times with the 3 major credit reporting agency 's it's still there, Then I contacted the 3 credit agency 's and disputed it yet again. They refuse to remove it from my report 's. Even after I told them they were violation of the Fair credit reporting act. XXXX XXXX XXXX I WHOM I CONTACTED VIA THE DISPUTE ON THE XXXX XXXX SITE. THEY HAVE DENIED MY DISPUTE NOW OVER 5 TIMES. I WANT THIS TAKEN CARE OF ONCE AND FOR ALL. Thank you

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I requested a copy of my credit report through XXXX and discovered a debt collector entry for {$1900.00} claimed by XXXX XXXX which was subsequently purchased by Jefferson Capital Systems. While I previously did business with XXXX XXXX, I ended my account with good standing. I do not recognize the account number or account date as being something I authorized and believe one of two things has occurred : My valid account with XXXX XXXX was not properly terminated as I instructed or a second account was opened under my name without my authorization. I disputed the account with XXXX and, on XX/XX/2019, they replied that the account had been correctly verified and identified as mine. I requested that XXXX, Jefferson Capital Systems, or XXXX XXXX provide me with the signed contact supposedly in my name which supports the debt in the first place. I was told it was not available. I asked to get copies of the statements from the account and was told those were not available.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Jefferson Capital System is reporting a debt that was involved in identity theft and fraud under my name. Im not aware of any such debt. As I never received any correspondence by this debt collector. Instead they reported this debt to the credit report agencies. Im requesting under an original contract and an actual signature that shows 100 % verifiable proof under the FCRA with 100 % accuracy that they have the LEGAL right to report this debt. If they are not able to provide 100 % verifiable proof and accuracy with my actual signature and a contract agreement the reporting should effectively be removed immediately from all credit reporting agencies promptly. Further reporting will result in me seeking legal remedy for violating my rights in the statues governed.

Consumer Complaint: An account with XXXX XXXX that was opened up in XX/XX/XXXX in the amount of {$1900.00} was deleted from my credit report in XX/XX/XXXX due to fraud. Now XX/XX/XXXX this same account from XXXX was put back on my credit report as a collection with a collection agency Jefferson Capital Systems with all three bureaus stating this account was opened XX/XX/XXXX which is definitely inaccurate information reporting and the account should have never been put back on my credit file in the first place. I have disputed with all three bureaus and the only one that have removed this collection from my report is XXXX, XXXX and XXXX is still reporting. This is damagaing my credit and I am in the process of purchasing a house but with this collection on my credit I am unable to obtain financing for a home.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX bought a debt from XXXX for a cell phone plan that was terminated in XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX originally told me that I could cancel my phone plan ; I had one month left on a three year plan, and that I would not be charged an early termination fee. Instead, I was charged {$300.00} per phone line ( six lines ) for the early termination. I disputed it. XXXX XXXX purchased it and reset the date opened account to XX/XX/XXXX and began to try to collect the debt from me. I disputed the account date. They told me that the debt starts from when they opened the account, not the original account.
