Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I am writing this letter in because I checked my credit reports for accuracy as I am in the process of being pre-qualified for my very first mortgage through the First Time Homeowners Buyers program, and I saw another debt reported by JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS for XXXX in the amount of {$540.00}. Since I do not believe I owe this debt, I am requesting that you comply with Section 809 of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and send me verification and validation as well all documentation proving that I owe this debt ; and ( 4 ) A copy of your license to practice debt collection in my state. I am also requesting that you send a copy of this letter to the original creditor notifying them that I dispute this debt so that they can not report it as delinquent on my credit report. Likewise, if you have reported this debt to any credit bureau, I request that you also report to them that I dispute owing the debt. Please notify me when you have done so. If you need to contact me in the future, I insist that you do so by mail. I am not allowed to receive personal telephone calls at my place of employment. I also prefer that you not phone me at home regarding this debt. All future contact should be by mail. Thank you.

Issue: Written notification about debt
Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Consumer Complaint: I have asked the purchased creditor to send me proof of the debt owed and the contract, to no avail. I have disputed the account twice and it still shows that it is validated. How is it validated when the requested information was not sent to me however, it is being stated as ( validated ) with the credit agencies?

Issue: Struggling to pay your loan
Subissue: Loan balance remaining after the vehicle is repossessed and sold
Consumer Complaint: I checked my credit reports for accuracy as I am in the process of being pre-qualified for my very first mortgage through the First Time Homeowners Buyers program, I saw a debt reported by Jefferson Capital Systems for a vehicle that was repossessed in 2020. The trade line is demanding I pay {$11000.00} owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX. Since I was laid off during COVID, the layoff caused me undue hardship and I was unable to meet the monthly minimum. I have finally found employment ( $ XXXX at a XXXX ) and have been able to save, but I can not possibly repay this debt in full as I am a single mother with XXXX kids and only one income coming in monthly. I am writing to ask if you would be willing to accept {$2000.00} as payment in full since the car was sold shortly after being repossessed ( XXXX check shows it has a new owner ). I saved up money, so if you could accept {$2000.00}, I could send you a cashier 's check [ or money order ] or make a payment via phone as soon as I receive notice that you will accept my offer. If you agree to these terms, please mail a signed and dated letter to the address attached to this complaint or attach it to the complaint. After receiving it, I will send you a payment of {$2000.00}, which will constitute payment in full, trade line deleted, and release me from all further collection efforts by both the original creditor and your collection agency.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I see on my credit report that Jefferson capitol systems is attempting to collect a debt that I've asked them multiple times to validate. They have failed to do so. I also received via mail from XXXX that they were attempting to collect a debt and the debt should be paid to Jefferson Capitol systems. This is a violation of my rights 15 USC 1692e. The amount shown on my credit report is XXXX and I have never done business with neither one of these companies nor have they been able to provide a contract.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: In early XXXX, I relayed a cease communication request to Jefferson Capital Systems via email asking them to cease and desist collection efforts on a debt they have admitted is outside of Statute of Limitations in past written communications. Said request was honored, until phone calls resumed on XX/XX/XXXX. I have received one attempted phone call per day from them, which I did not answer.

Consumer Complaint: there's a debt on my credit report of {$2600.00} from JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS opened on XX/XX/2021 that is not mine. I have contacted JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS many times to get this debt removed due to it being not my debt. I feel this is a fraudulent debt. JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEMS did not contact me or gave me any validation letters about this debt. This debt is not mine and they will not let me dispute this with them. Due to this being fraud I want this removed as soon as possible.

Consumer Complaint: XXXXefferson Capital have been sending me letters stating I owe a debt that I do not owe. I have no binding contract with their company. I have never done business with Jefferson Capital. I have sent them letters asking that they validate the debt and instead they continue to send me letters giving me payment options to settle a debt that is not mine. This negative account is reporting on my consumer credit report tarnishing my reputation and its becoming depressing/stressful.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2021 JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM added a derogatory on my credit report per XXXX XXXX. Upon further research this account was transferred/sold and I'm no longer responsible for this account. Debtor 's collectors did not verify this collection. Also there was NO written communication, contract or signature for this account at all. A bill without a signature does not validate a debt and anybody can send a bill and say its mine. According to the FCRA, JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM has violated my rights and I'm requesting legal action to remove account immediately.

Consumer Complaint: Starting in XX/XX/2021, I started disputing these unknown accounts with all Three ( 3 ) credit bureaus. I would receive notification that the accounts were " verified as accurate and updated '' These accounts do NOT belong to me. The original debt was with XXXX, and sold to Jefferson Capitol System. When I dispute, Jefferson Capitol sends me an offer to pay and delete. I sent a Method of Verification, and instead of sending me what I requested, they again sent me an offer to pay and delete. The XXXX XXXX account does NOT belong to me, and I have no knowledge of this account either.

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX, and I am sending this request myself to address the inaccuracies on my Credit Reports. I have been patiently waiting on their response about the written requests I sent. However, any modes of response or coordination were not taken on their end. They have not complied with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 USC Sections 1681i within the time allowed by law and continued reporting as unverified information which now, given all my attempts to address it directly with the creditor, as willful negligence and non-compliance with federal statutes.
