Consumer Complaint: Citizens Financial Group had reported me as deceased in order to get me to call. On or around XX/XX/, I was reported to have no credit score. This impacted me getting an auto loan and caused my credit cards to be shut down. I called XXXX to verify, and at least it was just reported from Citizens financial group. I had to call Citizens a few times to get this resolved. It took over 1 month for my credit score to come back. Then after that there was a cascading affect of my lines of credit being cancelled and then my XXXX credit score not existing as well. This was an illegal collection tactic to get me to call their offices which caused me to waste alot of my time to get resolved. They then report the debt. I am certain of the bank facing Liquidity Issues, but we can explore that later.

Consumer Complaint: In late XXXX, I had received letters /correspondence from Citizens bank XXXX XXXX overdrawn checking accounts which I never opened or had! I threw them out by accident, but it said they were XXXX, I called Citizens call XXXX and was told there were XXXX accounts in my name! They told me they couldn't tell me much due to if it was or I was the real " XXXX XXXX " I NEVER opened these accounts, I feel my social security number was compromised. I froze my credit, filed a complaint w/Citizens ID Theft dept and Also a police report will be filed.. This has hurt my chances of purchasing a new car, applying for a loan and very time consuming. I am also taking legal action from Citizens having fraudulent accounts in my name for a year without contacting me.

Consumer Complaint: I am a Citizens bank customer with an open and active checking account. On today on Monday XXXX XXXX at around XXXX XXXX I went inside of the local branch located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX MI XXXX to withdrawal cash from my account. After providing proper identification, debit card, and PIN number requested to make a cash withdrawal and the manager told me that my account was frozen and on hold. The bank teller and the manager denied me access to withdrawal my own money out of my account. He also stated that I was not allowed to use the ATM to access my account or funds either because of a " hard hold '' that was placed on my account by his " back office '' and asked me to leave because there was nothing that he could do to help me. When I asked why was my account placed on hold he said it was because a cashiers check that was deposited could not be verified although i was already aware that it was verified and cleared because I witnessed the verification done at another branch just 2 days prior. ) After contacting Citizens customer service just minutes after I was refused access to my funds and account a representative confirmed that there was never a hold on my account whatsoever neither was there ever a hold on my funds. I was lied to and manipulated. I was also able to withdrawal funds from the ATM after being told by the manager that I was not allowed to because of this hold which also confirms that I was lied to. With no probable cause or probable reason to suspect fraud or suspicious activity on my account I was denied access to my account and funds. I believe that I was racially profiled, discriminated against and treated by prejudice discretion. I was not allowed to access my own money that it is rightfully mine and that Im legitimately entitled to instead I was lied to, discriminated against, providing false information, manipulated, and treated unfairly by the employees and manager at this branch. Because of this I am now facing extremely difficult circumstances. This branch denied me access to my account and funds and manipulated me.

Consumer Complaint: I opened a business checking account in person at citizens bank in XX/XX/2023 I advised the branch manager that I would be receiving a large deposit from XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023 I deposited a check for {$15000.00}. They released {$200.00} of it and put the rest on a 10 day hold. On the XXXX day they extended the hold till XX/XX/2023. On XX/XX/XXXX they extended the hold till XX/XX/2023. The check is drawn from XXXX bank. XXXX XXXX has sent me the voided check showing that that the check has cleared the account and citizens has been paid the money. I have sent numerous emails to numerous people at citizens, called numerous times, went into the branch numerous times trying to get someone to help me and no one seems to be able to help me receive my funds. I have the voided check showing it was a valid good check and I have emails from the director of XXXX XXXX validating that I was supposed to receive the money. I have been more than accommodating getting citizens the information to prove that Im to receive these funds and they are still holding my money and have single handed ran my small business into the ground

Consumer Complaint: I have a checking account with the Citizen Bank that I don't check very often. This week when I logged in to my online banking I realized that in XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX transferred {$5000.00} from my checking account, but I don't even have an XXXX XXXX account, this was an unauthorized transfer. In XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX transferred in total of {$2300.00} from my account, also unauthorized. In XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX transferred {$5000.00} from my account, but I have never opened an account at the XXXX. In XXXX, the XXXX deposited {$5000.00} back to my account while I was not aware of. In that month, someone used " Step transfer '' to transfer {$3100.00} from my account and I don't even know who and why did this.

Consumer Complaint: I obtained a citizens line of credit for a XXXX security system. The line of credit has an automatic payment option. My debit card was compromised so I made a payment over the phone then on the companys website updated my autopay with new card. I received a phone call from their company saying that I had over due payments. This obviously occurred late fees penalties and a false negative on my credit report. The representative of the company citizens pay state that automatic payments are not automatic and that individual transactions must be authorized each time and automatic payments are not automatic. This is absolutely alarming and to me feel absolutely scammed and mislead into believing something is automatically being drafted when it is not. The citizens pay contacted me today after the bill was over two months behind. They admitted over the phone that yes I did in fact update my information as I stated. Please help with these fraudulent practices and help me resolve the issue I am having. Thank you so much

Consumer Complaint: Cash back credit card under both my husband and my name. Husband passed away in XX/XX/2023. I have been using card and paying balance off each month since, gaining reward money as well. I went to make a purchase on XX/XX/23 and bank declined. I could not access my account online. Called customer service # and was advised the card was CLOSED as they were notified my husband ( primary user on card ) was deceased. I received NO NOTIFICATION of closing and I AM listed on card. I asked about the Rewards money I had earned - I can not access online to transfer the earned money. I was told once the account is closed it is closed. No notice of closing an account - I have no way of accessing my Rewards money- yet I am still responsible for paying off the balance? I do not think this is fair or legit.

Consumer Complaint: I was hired by XXXX XXXX, which services patients through electrical health records. I was interviewed online and it was a lengthy one. I was hired a few days later and signed a job offer letter. It is a remote job so they informed me that we must purchase the equipment. I was sent a check totaling {$4600.00}. It was XXXX to me overnight with a letter of instructions stating that I have to email the responsible accountant and the hiring manager with all the deposits I make. They asked me to deposit it in my account through the bank 's app or an ATM. I wondered if it's ok to deposit it through a teller and they said it is ok. I wanted to eliminate all suspicions and ask the teller if it is a real check or not. When I asked the teller at Citizens Bank she looked at it and asked her fellow associate if it is real. Her associate said that checks sometimes look like that because it was looking a bit different. so she ran it through the machine and it was ok. and the associate said if it goes through the machine that means it's legit. And they informed me that it will take 24 hours to clear. So I took the receipt and went home to send it to the hiring manager and the accountant. The next day when the check cleared the hiring manager told me that the vendor for the equipment is down and we have to transfer the money directly to the vendor 's account. so I did three transfers through XXXX and the rest through a wire transfer. And every time I get a receipt for the transaction I sent it to the hiring manager and the accountant. so the manager told me that I will get the equipment within a couple of days. The next day I got a check for {$7900.00} with the same letter of instructions. At this point, I was very suspicious and felt that this is a scam. But didn't know what kind of people I am dealing with so I wanted to cut my loss and apologize that I can't continue with the company because I got a new job. The manager told me to trash the new check. a couple of days later I saw my account and it was $ XXXX I tried to reach out to the bank and they informed me that the owner of the check reversed it. So the bank had to give the money back. when I asked can the bank do this? they said yes the bank can take back any money they deposit into my account. So I went to the branch where I deposited the check and asked to speak with someone. After telling the e customer service the story. she said it was my fault. she didn't even ask me about my name or pulled my account. instead, she was smiling very sarcastically. like she was happy I got scammed. I told her why would make the funds available instead of pending to verify the check and she said why would I bring them such a check.

Consumer Complaint: I was a customer of former XXXX. I have a personal checking account with them. XXXX sold its US business to Citizens Bank. In XX/XX/XXXX my XXXX checking account became Citizens Bank checking. Since then Citizens Bank has charged various fees without the appropriate disclosure. In XXXX I have no monthly fee as long as I maintained a certain amount of balance. Citizens Bank 's opening email said nothing is changed, but charged me {$9.00} monthly fee and {$3.00} statement fee. This is predatory behavior that probably made an unfair profit for the bank. I called Citizens bank and told them I wanted to close my account due to excessive and predatory fees in XX/XX/XXXX, and they used various barriers to stop me from closing my account.
