Consumer Complaint: I am a military member XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, while XXXX, I disputed a charge on my Credit Card to Citibank for a service that I did not use. I had issues with the vendor not reimbursing me so I disputed the charge through Citi Bank. Citi Bank later emailed me to my personal email account late XXXX and gave me 5 days to respond or they were going to put the charge back on my card. I was XXXX at the time and did not have reasonable access to my personal email account so they put the charge back on my card. I called Citi Bank to file a re-dispute but they refused because I did not respond in time to their email. Again, I was XXXX at the time and did not have readily available access to my personal email account. When I returned from XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, I called Citi Bank to let me re-dispute the charge since I was back stateside I would have access to respond to emails. They refused my request again.

Consumer Complaint: I had filed a previous complaint against Citibank ( XXXX ) back in XXXX, XXXX. My complaint was that back in XXXX, Citibank claimed I committed fraud by receiving SBA grant into a personal account. Per their response to my complaint in XXXX, they were going to return the funds back to the SBA. Moreover, some of those were my paychecks paid into that account. A year and a half later, XX/XX/XXXX, I reached out to SBA again to enquire about the re-disbursement of my funds {$7300.00} that Citibank returned back in XXXX and was informed that Citibank never returned any funds to them. It turns out that from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, Citibank kept my funds. On XX/XX/XXXX, I reached out to Citibanks XXXX XXXX XXXX via email and phone. The representative on the phone said someone would contact me. He then called back in a couple of minutes and said his manager said I needed to email them a signed letter giving them permission to return the funds to the SBA. I did and have a copy. This option was never made available to me back in XXXX. My account was frozen for 3 months and then closed. I called customer service multiple times and spoke to people in XXXX who kept telling me that there was no one I could speak with and that the back office was handling the situation. I faxed over some of my contracts as an Independent Contractor on my own accord, but no one from the Fraud Department ever reached out to me to request more/ other/ or correct documents. I was just notified that my savings and checking accounts were closed. My concern is that, Citibank thought I acquired the funds fraudulently and decided to keep it. It makes no sense that a bank would require my permission to return funds that they claim was ill gotten. When a fraudulent check is deposited into an account, the bank will return it without the customers consent. I think Citibank was trying to do damage control because they kept the funds. Why will you need my consent to return grants that you claim didnt belong to me. As an independent XXXX, I really didnt understand how the process worked. I did contracts using my social security number. I applied to the SBA using by social security number and got approved after my tax documents were verified. I didnt claim to own a business and therefore didnt have a business account. I thought it was okay to receive my funds in my personal account. Now SBA is saying they are no longer processing these grants. Citibank owes me that {$7300.00}. Had they returned it back in XXXX, I would have gotten it back from the SBA. Why wasnt my accounts closed when I received the PPP EIDL loan? I also applied as an Independent XXXX and not a business. Got approved twice and the funds were deposited in personal Citibank savings account. That was 6 months before I received that grant that made you close my account. So its okay to receive SBA funds in personal savings, but not checking?

Consumer Complaint: I made purchases from XXXX back in XX/XX/2021 my XXXX account was closed by XXXX before I picked up the merchandise from the hub locker. I was sent severall messages to pick up my merchandise which I never did then recived an e mail stating it had been sent back to XXXX and I would get a full refund. The package went back to XXXX but I never received any refund. I called XXXX and got no help so I filed a dispute with citi bank they invested asked for documents which I sent showing that merchandise was never picked up and they refused to remove the charges every month I keept sending in documents showing that I returned the merchandise interest keept adding onto the card till they tried to get a judgment against me. Then they tried to say I was deceased which i am not. At that time I explained the situation and the charges were removed from my account in the meantime they closed my account I was never late on a payment..its not fair that my account was closed. I want my account re opened.

I reported this error to the credit bureau and they sent me a email telling me they found the creditor to be accurate

They fooled me into paying them with a check XXXX dollars if not legal action was going to happen and i dont know anything about credit laws so I believed them until I was told it is illegal and I just want to fix my credit and be at peace after all the countless things that have happened in the last 2 years..

Consumer Complaint: Citibank Checking Account I deposited a check via mobile deposit XXXX XXXX ago. It was an unemployment check. I know that the banks are connected to the government so I call on Monday asking why Im not even seeing a date it will be complete and they tell me if its a government check, it will be complete on the next business day. On the next business day the deposit is not anywhere to be found and they state several times that their mobile deposit system is down. Supposedly an update that had been done broke everything. After 6 hours I tell them, well the deposit isnt showing still Im going to have to cash this check locally because I had been waiting for it for 9 days prior to depositing it for it to come in the mail. They tell me that there would be a fee if i did that but to call back in and reference this issue and they would credit my account. Instead they put my account into review stating the check was fraudulent, they refuse to contact the treasury it was disbursed from. They are in the process of closing the account due to fraudulent activity and that is in spite of a direct deposit coming into the acct today from unemployment again! Theyre holding my money XXXX for 60 days, I dont have to tell you Im depending on the lowest funds you can depend on and these jackals are doing this because of their issue, not mine.
