Consumer Complaint: With CItibank, somehow, we were signed up for estatements. We don't do estatements. Never have, never will. Citibank reached to us when the account went 30 days past due. We weren't aware of the estatement situation ( in checking all of those estatements that we didn't sign up for were sent to our junk file ). We have a stellar history with Citibank and have ALWAYS paid them in a timely fashion. Now, because Citibank didn't reach out to us until the account was 30 days past due and we were signed up for estatements ( again, something we don't do with ANY creditor ), they reported one past due to our credit. It has damaged our credit and I've had other credit cards reduce our credit ( XXXX XXXX ) by {$2000.00}. Irresponsible behavior by a company and a lack of follow up on their behalf has damaged our credit. I am furious. We spent a lot of time getting our credit rating over XXXX and that has been damaged by Citibank. Citibank has been contacted on this issue. They claim we signed up for estatements in XXXX of 2023. Again, we would never do that. Further, Citibank SHOULD have reached out to us before it was 30 days past due ( many companies due in these circumstances ). If you look at our credit history, we have no missed payments. These " accidents '' have long term ramifications for the consumer and it is wrong for them to report it without contacting the customer. I have attached the notice from XXXX XXXX and I want Citibank to reverse this reporting to XXXX or I will pursue legal action.

Consumer Complaint: II have been a Citi customer for XXXX years. I opened an XXXX XXXX account XXXX XXXXXXXX over phone when Citi 's new account rep offered to open this account over phone. There was an online offer of similar nature on the web for selected customers on my XXXX web interface that I wanted to use. See the attached. I took up on the offer over phone as the rep told she could open that online and XXXX rep opened my account over the phone attaching offer code XXXX. The account was opened on XX/XX/XXXX. And I emailed to myself confirming what your rep told as proof. I was promised {$450.00} bonus after transferring $ XXXX within XXXX days and keeping that for XXXX days. I did fulfil those requirements. I am still waiting to get that {$450.00} and I chatted Citi rep asking for resolution and by emailing XXXX dedicated contact. Last week chat rep told the code was not applied, so I am not eligible. All I have to say that XXXX rep gave me the offer over phone that I accepted and I deposited $ XXXX on that assurance on XX/XX/XXXX. I am not responsible for Citibank agent 's fault, deceptive practice or any error the rep made, as $ XXXX deposit was at stake. I have kept that balance since opening the account and Citibank is refusing {$450.00} bonus payment.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I initiated an institution-to-institution transfer in the amount of {$1500.00} from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX to Citibank. The information on the web site for Citibank indicated that the funds would clear overnight, and would be in my Citibank account the following day. The balance in my Citibank account had been {$780.00}. This evening ( XX/XX/XXXX ), when I logged onto the Citibank account portal, the system indicated that my account was overdrawn. There were no other debits that were being made on my Citibank account. I checked the account from which the {$1500.00} transfers were being sent, and confirmed that they were debited from the XXXX checking account. When I called Citibank to obtain resolution, they told me it was a known issue, and that I would have to wait XXXX hours for resolution. In the meantime, I do not have access to my own funds that I was planning to use to pay for a transaction that was supposed to take place on XX/XX/XXXX. Banks should not be allowed to get away with this type of behavior. How can we have trust in the financial system when things like this happen, and the attitude of the staff was so blas. This is a basic banking function. Why is Citibank failing at this under your watch?

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I opened the XXXX membership account and the XXXX representative talked me into applying for a XXXX XXXX Citi XXXX card. A few months ago. I purchased {$190.00} worth of groceries at XXXX. As soon as I got the bill from Citi, I wrote a check for the entire balance ( {$190.00} ) placed it along with the bill stub in the return envelope and send it off to CITI. About a week later I started getting notifications from CITI saying that my due date was coming up and that I better pay my bill. It confused me because I remember sending them a check. I looked at my records and sure enough I had sent them a check. I got on their website, and it said I had one more day to pay my bill. The website showed my balance as being {$190.00}. I figured the bill and check must have gotten lost in the mail or something. I waited until the day before my bill was due, and still the balance was at {$190.00}, So I figured I'd better make a bank transfer so I didn't jeopardize my credit. I set up a bank transfer with my personal checking account and transferred {$190.00} into my Citibank account. So my bill would get paid on time. Then the next day I get a notification saying that my check had cleared and I have {$190.00} credit on my account! I called citi and explained that I had paid twice, once by check, and once by bank transfer, because Citibank kept sending me daily notifications that I had to pay my bill! The customer service agent said there was nothing they could do except request a refund. I said I wanted them to refund the {$190.00} back into my personal checking account where it came from immediately. They said there was nothing they could do for at least 14 to 28 days. I said it wasn't acceptable to hold my money for two weeks to a month and that they needed to refund it sooner. They said too bad there's nothing we can do. I feel citi is running a scam operation trying to get people to pay twice. I have an excellent credit score and pay all my bills on time. What CITI bank is doing is unacceptable. Thank you, XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: This is a follow up to my previous complaint. The company Citibank changed us to Estatements. We don't do estatements and we would never knowingly sign up for them. When the company sends out the acknowledgment they send it out on email. Given that we didn't sign up for estatements and it would end up in our junk email which we never check, we would not have been aware of this. When we missed a payment the bank did not reach out to us by phone until it ws 30 days past due. That allows the damage to our credit history to occur. The bank had our phone number, had permission to leave a message and just never bothered to do their due diligence and, as a result, they damaged my reputation causing my credit rating to go from near XXXX to XXXX. This resulted in other credit card companies reducing our credit. We are being punished for the incompetence of the company to reach out to their customers. We have had a stellar history with Citi and been customers since XXXX WHY they could not be bothered to reachout until after ( and to have the customer service rep tell us it would NOT be reported on our credit history knowing that it was 30 days past due ) is inexcusable. There need to be consequences for damaging the reputation of customers particularly long term customers who DO NOT use estatements have never have. This has recked a carefully cultivated credit history, damaged MY reputation and Citi is not held accountable for it. I will be cancelling my card once this is resolved, contacting a lawyer for a class action lawsuit against Citi and Costco ( who does business with this Citicard ) unless this is reversed immediately within our favor. It is irresponsible and an example of a company having too much power. I have attached previous attachment on the two previous complaints. I should also note that we received a statement a full two weeks AFTER they had already reported it to the credit agencies. I don't buy the " we can't control the mail '' XXXX because this clearly was mailed a week ago. This should have occurred BEFORE it was ever reported and they should have reached out by phone ( I will gladly provide my phone records proving they did not before it was over 30 days past due ) prior to that. I have called them, written to the office of the President, the CFO, their general counsel as well.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Consumer Complaint: Summary : Citi refuses to honor terms of the targeted promotion and pay the bonus of {$450.00} related to opening an account and completing agreed activities. Details and timeline : ***In XX/XX/XXXX I received multiple targeted offers ( after logging into my online Citi Account ) which promised a {$450.00} bonus for opening a newCiti Accelerate Savings, transferring a certain amount ( {$50000.00} in my case ) and maintaining the balance for 60 days. The offer has been targeted ( most likely to the credit card client of the bank as they mention credit card in the further communication ), it was not available publicly and could be used only after logging in into my account. There was no other way to apply for the bonus and ( for example ) my husband never received the offer even though he is also a client of Citi Bank. I received this offer a few times in my mobile app ( after logging in ) and in my onlineaccount ( accessed via browser ). Eventually I decided to apply by clicking appropriate buttons in the targeted pop up window. XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX : I applied for the offer as per the procedure. I opened Citi Accelerate Savings but at the end of the process I had some browser issues ( Citi Bank page timed out during the account opening process ). While I could see that the account had been opened ( it showed online ) I decided to contact customer support to make sure that the bonus offer had been properly applied to the bank account. The full conversation can be read in the attached : " XXXX XXXX ''. My apologies for the horrible format of the saved chat but Citi does not offer any save option so the awkwardcopy-paste is the only way to save the chat. In summary customer representative confirmed in writing that : 1. ) the offer has been correctly applied to the account.- confirmed the terms : " Yes I checked in your account where the account has enrolled with bonus offer with us. so you can deposit the amount within 20 days from the account opening date. then you need to maintain it for 60 days and then you will receive the bonus within 90 calendar days in your account. '' 2. ) confirmed that the account has been attached to the account " package '' I've got to avoid fees : " yes depositing $ XXXX ( ... ). yes all accounts are linked with same package so it will avoid fees in your account. '' 3. ) confirmed that : " Citi Accelerate Savings Account in the Access Account Package Earn | : {$150.00} {$20000.00} - {$49000.00} {$450.00} {$50000.00} or more ''. The name of the confirmed package ( XXXX Account Package ) is relevant ( see below ). XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX : The transfer of {$50000.00} from another bank arrived to the account and has been maintained well beyond mandatory 60 days. I awaited the bonus and did not pay attention to the exact dates, trusting in Citi. I hoped that as an honorable and well known company they will simply transfer the bonus when the time comes. The required balance was maintained until XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX. The transaction list of the account is attached : " Citibank Account XXXX ''. These facts haven't been challengedby Citi. XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX : I've started to worry about the bonus as based on my rough estimations it should have already arrived. I've reached out to customer support again ( see attached " XXXX '' ). During that conversation the agent : 1. ) confirmed the conditions of the bonus and confirmed I've fulfilledthose 2. ) confirmed that the promotional code is attached to my account ( XXXX ) and apologizedfor the delay in processing the bonus. 3. ) offered to file a dispute which I agreed to do ( ID of the dispute : XXXX ). XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX : I received bank 's response ( see attached " dispute resolution document.pdf '' ) which confirmed the already mentioned terms of the promotion but in addition to those terms it states that : " Unfortunately, your account does not qualify for this promotion because the CitiBank Account package is not eligible under this promotion. '' and it refers to previously undiscussed " condition '' that the new account should be opened in " in the Access Account Package ''. I have no clue what those packages are and to this day I have no clue what kind of " not eligible '' package I have as it's not mentioned anywhere in online banking, during the application or on the bank statements. The letter doesn't give any way to discuss the matter any further and instead provides a phone number to general customer service which confirmed twice already that everything is fine and I should receivethebonus. To summarize : I've fulfilled all the conditions but my account hasn't been eligible for the TARGETED promotion due to some " package '' naming which I have no idea what it is. The offer has been targeted and non-public so there is no way for a customer to expect that it's possible to be disqualified ( after 5 months of waiting and confirming with customer support ) based on " package '' naming. In addition to that, the customer service representative confirmed that the bonus applies to my account and that it has been added to the " package ''. Moreover, customer service representative informed me ( see XXXX ) that : " Citi Accelerate Savings Account in the Access Account Package Earn ( ... ) '' so used the name of the eligible package when discussing my account. Eligibility has been confirmed again after a few months. I hoped that it's all a misunderstanding but it looks like a deceptive targeted advertisementof a bonus which is automatically made not eligible for me based on " account package '' names which I have no chance of checking or knowing. This is a very dishonest way of acquiring clients. The bonus offer was the only thing which made the account attractive as it offered ( and still offers ) average APR ( at best ) around well below some other ( FDIC-insured ) options. I hope that the CFPB complaint will be treated seriously by the Citi Bank and Citi will decide to honor the agreement and credit thebonus amount to my account. I am determined to fight for the {$450.00} I should have received and will escalate the issue further as the evidence in this case is strong and written communication with the bank speaks volumes. Thank you
