Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I was sent a text by Citi that my credit card was used for a purchase at a XXXX in XXXX XXXX, NC. I live and was in XXXX, PA when the text came. I immediately called Citi and reported the purchase as fraudulent. For some reason, the charge as on my statement the following day XX/XX/XXXX. Citi canceled that card on XX/XX/XXXX and sent me a replacement via mail a week or so later. Unfortunately, they didn't remove the fraudulent purchase from my monthly bill and I paid the bill that included the fraudulent purchase. It took me a number of months to realize that I paid for a purchase I didn't make. I called Citi several times to get this resolved and was referred to their XXXX security XXXX number XXXX. I didn't document the first call date, but I was told it would take 1 to 2 billing cycles to see the credit or NTE 90 days. I was never credited or contacted about the fraudulent charge or credit. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called again at the same # - XXXX and talked to a representative named XXXX who gave me the same response - 1 to 2 billing cycles or NTE 90 days. Nothing from Citi. On XX/XX/XXXX, I called again, same #, and talked to a representative named XXXX. Same story except he assured me he would handle this personally and I'd see the credit XXXX to XXXX billing cycles or NTE 90 days. So I've contacted Citi at a minimum of three times w/o getting a credit or a reason why I didn't get the credit. I believe I did everything correct by immediately notifying them of the fraud. They should have a record of issuing a replacement card if nothing else on XX/XX/XXXX.
