Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Deposits and withdrawals
Consumer Complaint: I used Capital One 's mobile deposit app to deposit a check on XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX. XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Capital One that it was successful and the funds appeared in my account. I went to XXXX for a month to work. I returned on XX/XX/XXXX and happened to check my account and noticed the {$850.00} check from XXXX XXXX had been reversed. I did not notice any notification from Capital One that this had happened. I called to inquire why it was reversed and why I had not been notified that {$850.00} had been taken out of my account. They said I " should have received an email '' and I asked them to forward said email and they didn't have one. They said there was something wrong with the check and I'd have to contact XXXX XXXX. I asked why it said it was successful when there was something wrong with the check and they said they didn't know. I contacted XXXX XXXX who said they didn't have a phone number for this and I would have to send a message through their portal which I did. I heard nothing back, I contacted them XX/XX/XXXX to follow up and they said nobody had looked at it yet and they would expedite it. XX/XX/XXXX I still have not heard from them. I contacted Capital one XXXX times about this matter because I kept being told somebody would follow up and nobody ever did. Today XX/XX/XXXX was the last time contacting Capital one and he also couldnt " tell me why the check was reversed or why I hadn't been contacted, he just said he would create a case on it. Please help me get my {$850.00} back, I feel like Capital One has unfairly taken it out of my account and I will be closing said account this week.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Consumer Complaint: I was recently on vacation in XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX. On the last day of the trip on the way to the airport, I stopped to refuel my rental car. Upon completion of refueling the car, I handed the gas station attendant my credit card to pay for the gas. At this moment, a co-worker called him over to the other side of the pump for assistance. He walked over to the other side of the gas pump, and I believe this is when the fraudulent transaction was made. He returned to the side of the pump to process the gas transaction. Upon returning home, I checked my credit card issued by Capital One and discovered a transaction had been made by a merchant based in XXXX XXXX ( I was never in XXXX XXXX ) for the amount of $ XXXX by XXXX using the payment processor XXXX I immediately contacted Capital One to dispute this charge. Capital One rejected the dispute saying they believed I had benefitted from this transaction as it was a chip read transaction and supposedly very secure. I have since made numerous inquiries to the fraud and dispute departments at Capital One. Further information became available about the transaction. It occurred on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX for {$410.00} for dining/fast food, while the legitimate charge for the gas occurred at XXXX for {$36.00}. How likely would it have been that I purchased over {$400.00} worth of fast food from a merchant in XXXX XXXX while I was on my way to the airport in XXXX XXXX XXXX? Capital One questioned why I continued to use the card after this transaction to which my response was I was not aware of the fraudulent transaction until the day after I got home. Furthermore the credit card was out of my possession for a brief minute at the gast station where the fraud occurred. The payment processor has also launched an investigation. See attached letter from XXXX and the letter that I explained this to Capital One.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I requested a XXXX balance transfer with Capital One. The agreement included a 3 % Transaction fee and 12 months at zero percent interest. As of XX/XX/XXXX Capital One began charging interest at 19.99 %. I noticed this on my XXXX Statement and contacted them on Friday XX/XX/XXXX. My call was escalated to a supervisor who then opened a case and gave me a case #. Today, I was contacted by a rep who stated that the agreement somehow dates back to when the card was originally issued and therefore the zero percent interest ended on XX/XX/XXXX. I have been told that they are keeping the XXXX transaction fee and the XXXX rate. Requests for a supervisor over that rep were rebuffed. They have also refused to provide a copy of the balance transfer agreement. I further tried calling customer service and speaking with a supervisor there who also stated nothing further could be done and who also could not provide a copy of the agreement.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX I lost my job due to XXXX and contacted Capital One to let them know, account was paid late but always paid and they were working with me to get the account rectified. Then in XXXX Capital One called me to offer an agreement to give me a break from making payments ( due to XXXX ) for 3 months. After 3 months I would resume making payments as agreed. I took the agreement however, Capital One never disclosed that these payments under their offered agreement would show as late payments on my credit report as well as payments from XXXX when I was laid off due to XXXX. I have called Capital One 3 times in one year and they are not able to find any of this information. I have spent hours on the phone and the promise is that they will call me back with more information but they don't. These late payments are affecting my ability to find employment and housing. Please delete all late payments as this was not notified to me when agreements were made. No one at Capital One seems to know how to help me as I have wasted many hours trying to work this out or even get more information. There are 3 seperate accounts.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: I XXXX XXXX XXXX am filing this claim against Capital One Auto Finance. Over the last couple of months, Capital One Auto Finance has been wrongfully and fraudulently attempting to collect a debt that I do not owe to them. After researching their claim, I have come to realize that their claims are tied to securities fraud. I have sent out correspondence through certified mail as an attempt to have Capital Auto One Finance resolve the issue and produce undeniable evidence of their claim and they have failed to do so. I DO NOT have any contracts that bind me to any obligations or duty to perform with Capital One Auto Finance, yet they have gone as far as to falsely report false and damaging information to the credit reporting agencies, of which I also DO NOT have any binding contracts giving consent, that I've sent a cease and desist. They have also sent a cease and desist that stated they will no longer contact me regarding this matter, and yet they still do make contact. And during my research, I realized that Capital One Auto Finance does not have a license to collect debt in Florida. I have also communicated my disapproval with said credit reporting agencies ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) that I have not given consent to disclose any of my private information. This is my third attempt to try and resolve the issue with Capital One Auto Finance. I would like some help in addressing the matter.

Issue: Problem when making payments

Consumer Complaint: I relocated my business early in 2023. At the time, I notified all interested parties of my change in contact information, including my new address. I encountered no issues with any of the ( numerous ) parties updating this information -- except or Capital One. On my XXXX or XXXX phone call, I was finally assured that my account information was updated. I recently moved my residence. Once again, I notified all interested parties of my new contact information. Once again, I encountered no difficulties -- except for Capital One. In the course of my phone calls with them, I learned that they in fact never updated my address the first time -- and were unwilling to do so unless I purchased new technology that would conform with their protocols. I am unable to provide the " verification '' which they require unless I text or email them my driver 's license or something similar. I am unable to do so, so they tell me I'm out of luck. I have literally spent multiple hours on numerous phone calls only to get nowhere. It is clear that is exactly where the company wants me to get. To be fair, the unfortunate employees with whom I have conversed have all done their best to assist me and were very polite. It is clear that their hands are tied. I have been a customer with Capital One for decades. I have never cashed in any of my points, but had been anticipating doing so as I segue into XXXX ( I will be XXXX XXXX XXXX next month ). I am concerned for my fellow XXXX citizens who may also be unable to surmount the same obstacles ... causing them to pay their bills late, damaging their credit ( with the potential myriad effects upon their lives ) and have their accounts terminated ( losing points collectively potentially worth XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that they may have been accumulating for decades, like myself ). Capital One 's inflexibility on this issue is unlikely to be coincidence. I believe that they are intentionally attempting to exploit XXXX citizens ( who are well-known to frequently struggle with technology and often lack the know-how or resources to purchase new technology ) for profit. At the very least, company superiors must be aware of this consequence and like it.
