Issue: Fees or interest
Subissue: Problem with fees
Consumer Complaint: ACCORDING TO BJ 'S Comenity Mastercard, my full payment of the balance of {$110.00} due by XX/XX/XXXX was received on XX/XX/XXXX ; that is, they claim, 3 days late. Therefore, I was charged a late fee of {$35.00} on my payment, plus interest of {$2.00}. The late penalty, in other words, was more than 33 % of the actual amount owed. I protested by telephone on XX/XX/XXXX, and was told by three successive representatives at Comenity that this charge could NOT be waived even in the midst of USPS difficulties caused at least in part by Covid-19 because I had made a late payment 11 months earlier. In light of such unreasonableness in the midst of a PANDEMIC, when postal services are beyond a persons control, I told the representative to cancel my Comenity BJ Perks Mastercard. I then mailed a check for the entire amount billed including that disputed late fee - {$260.00}. I RECEIVED NO BILLS AFTER THAT, and assumed the matter, as well as the account, was closed. However, two bills showed up in my mailbox this week on XX/XX/XXXX. NEITHER ENVELOPE DISPLAYED A POSTMARK INDICATING THE DATE OF MAILING. One bill claimed my XXXX payment of {$260.00} had been received TWO days late, on XX/XX/XXXX. I was AGAIN charged a late fee of {$35.00}, plus interest of {$3.00}, all of it due by XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, which obviously was impossible, since I didnt receive it until XX/XX/XXXX. The second bill added a {$37.00} late fee for nonpayment of the late fee in the prior ( UNRECEIVED ) BILL, for a total of {$75.00}.

Consumer Complaint: I went to get an auto loan in XX/XX/XXXX & they questioned me about an unpaid, maxed out credit card for {$10000.00}. I had no idea what was going on. I was then served papers to appear in court for not paying the card approx. XXXX XXXX. I had no idea of what kind of card this was to even contact the company. I told this to the dept collectors & they said they would list it as fraud. I just had a recent credit report on XX/XX/XXXX & saw that the fraudulent card debt was still listed, which is destroying my credit.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: For the past year and half I have reached out to this Comenity Bank for a XXXX XXXX card - They keep missing my whole point stating this is your account we verified it you opened it. Thats not what I disputed - The card was STOLEN and used without my consent! The charges are not mine and fraudulent. They have yet to provide proof of debt validation other than a statement. This provided nothing! That doesnt show someone used my card unauthorized and by federal laws Im protected in this matter. I will now seek legal action if not resolved. They runaround and completely ignoring me is so unprofessional and illegal. You can sent a statement and says there proof. Doesnt work like that in the rights & law.
