Consumer Complaint: Upon examination of my credit reports, I did observe an account ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ) listed thereon which I did not open nor was aware of. I have contacted the company on multiple occasions to have this matter resolved but they seem content as treating as my account; totally disregarding the issue at hand. I made it clear that I have been a victim of Identity Theft and also I was among the many who were involved in the XXXX credit breach a few years back. Notwithstanding the fact that I have ran in hard times in the past, I will never disown my debt but rather come to some sort of arrangements to resolve the issue. Here, I am faced with having to challenge a debt of which I am not aware and the creditor is refusing to rectify this matter. In light of this, I hereby request assistance from the CFPB to address this issue. I have disputed the matter and requested evidence but to date they have failed to supply any evidence linking me to this account other than it being listed on all of my consumer reports. Additionally, the company has blacklisted me for being a victim of identity theft.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: The company is XXXX 's XXXX XXXX. The credit company is Comenity Bank. I set up an autopay for my account. When I contacted them they said that the information I put in the payment section was incorrect. I called my bank to verify that the info was correct. It was. So I went ahead, just in case, and re-entered the information. I paid the XXXX on the account. I contacted them via a message on their site to see if they would excuse the fee on XX/XX/22. I tried calling them, but I got cut off when I didn't click the right option because none of them applied to what I needed. On XX/XX/22 they sent me a response that the account was closed so they could not credit the fee of XXXX. I didn't see the message on their website until I received the statement in the mail that showed now my fees were XXXX. I went on their website and saw the message saying they could not give me the credit because the account was closed. I have no idea why they didn't email me or call me. They have both my email and phone number. I called to see if they could excuse the fees again. The response was that the account is closed so they can not credit the fees. My response to them was if the account is closed and you can not credit the fees how can you be charging the fees on the closed account. One can't work without the other. They would not credit the fees. It is not about the money, it is about the shady practice. I think they have done this on purpose to make money. Very troubling to take advantage of people. I also went to check their reviews, they are very low, so I don't think I am the only one who had had problems with them. Thank you, XXXX XXXX.

Issue: Opening an account
Subissue: Unable to open an account
Consumer Complaint: I tried several times to open a savings account with Comenity Bank today. They said they are " unable to open an account '' with me but wouldn't tell me why. They wouldn't tell me what they relied on to deny my account. I called XXXX times and told them I would file a complaint with you. I have a credit score of XXXX and no adverse information on my XXXX Report. When I said I had a right to an Adverse Action report under the FCPA, they said they would eventually mail me one in about two weeks ( that I guess I would receive in about three weeks ). My guess is they have some of my personal information wrong. I offered to let them run a credit check or let me apply in paper or let me verify my information by sending them my driver 's license but they wouldn't. I tried XXXX times. I'm 100 % confident that all the information I gave them was accurate. I also asked to speak to a supervisor. That request was denied on the grounds that the " supervisor would tell me the same thing. '' If they have false information about me, I want to know what it is so I can correct it. I am concerned my name and email and address has gone on the " dark web. '' ( I've been told it has. ) And if someone else is messing with my otherwise perfect credit, I need to know about it.
