Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: Payment for {$5.00} made through bill pay on XX/XX/22 was not initially credited by XXXX 's XXXX XXXX company ( Comenity ) because it was sent to the creditor 's previous address to receive payments. After speaking with Comenity, a second payment for {$5.00} plus XXXX in interest was made through bill pay on XX/XX/22 and sent to the new Comentiy address for receiving payments. Both payments were credited, however, a late fee was charged to the account in the amount of {$13.00} and interest continued to accrue. On XX/XX/22, I went XXXX and spoke directly with Comenity with the assistance of the XXXX 's employee. I was told that the total at that time was {$17.00} ( more interest ) and would be waived. I closed the XXXX 's credit card account with Comenity at that time. Today i received a bill for {$1.00} and was told i would receive monthly billing statements until balance was paid in full and threatened to be reported to credit bureaus. This is not about paying the amount I owe, because I did paid more than what I owed just to make the problem go away however, when I tried to correct the payment issue, Comenity did not follow through and continued to charge interest on late fees and this appears to continue even with my efforts and now will jeopardize my credit. It is my understanding that interest can't be charged on late fees but that is what seems to be happening here. Please help.

Consumer Complaint: I believe I opened this account in XXXX of XXXX. I paid my payments, as I pay the rest of my bills via XXXX bank online. Everything was fine until a late fee in XX/XX/XXXX. I called and was treated poorly by foreign speaking customer service agents until I finally got a supervisor. He explained that theyd moved billing addresses and werent set up to take electronic payments or something like that. He removed the late fee and advised I pay through a Q code on my bill. It was a hassle, but I did that until last month when the Q code was not on the bill. I assumed theyd corrected the electronic payment issue and paid through my bank on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX due XXXX XXXX. I receive XXXX bill with another late fee. I called and was treated poorly by two, foreign speaking people who refused to transfer me to a manager. I was told no electronic payments and it was posted a day late. I ended up speaking poorly in the end of a 30 minute argument for a manager or at least someone I could understand and hung up, which I regret. I have several accounts with comenity bank, but the XXXX account has been horrible. All other accounts with this bank accept electronic payments. The multiple changes in payment methods to this account are not my responsibility.

Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: Comenity Bank has been contacting myself, parents, wife, uncle, niece and even my wife 's place of employment about paying my credit card debt. I make payments as much as I can as regularly as I can and have sent them messages through their online contact system at least twice to tell them not to call or contact anyone or any number except for my cell phone and they will stop for a month or so and then start up again. It's rude, harassing and embarrassing and has made me never want to have any credit relationship with Comenity again and I steer anyone looking for credit away from them. Please make them stop contacting others and just stick with my contact information. Thank you!

Consumer Complaint: I received a statement on XXXX from All Rewards which is being serviced by Comenity-All Rewards. On this statement there was a late charge of {$27.00}. I went online to my checking account and a check was sent to the company prior to the bill due date. I contacted Comenity and spoke to a customer service representative I disputed the late charge and stated I wanted to close my account. XXXX eventually waived the late fee and provided me with a reference # of XXXX. On XX/XX/22 I received my statement from XXXX XXXX serviced by Comenity XXXX XXXX XXXX and it now has an additional late fee of {$27.00} and {$1.00} interest charge in addition to the late fee from last month that wasn't waived. Total due now {$55.00}. I called Comenity and spoke to Customer Service Rep and then a supervisor. Initially told since account closed they could not waive the late fees. After much discussion, supervisor XXXX stated she would do a system override and clear the late fee. I asked for documentation that this had occurred, since I received the same assurance last month. She stated she couldn't provide me with documentation until after the statement period ends, which would be XX/XX/XXXX. At that time I could call in and get a XXXX XXXX letter. The issue is if this once again doesn't go through, like last month, I will have another late fee added and it will probably affect my credit.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: Pursuant to complaint # XXXX I heard from Comenity Capital Bank XXXX XX/XX/2022 ) that my issue was resolved. The explanation was that my payment of {$73.00} had been applied to a previous credit card with the XXXX XXXX XXXX, not the one I recently opened for my purchase for {$73.00}. ( I had not used the previous one for years and forgot about it ). It was the new card for which the interest and late fee charges had increased to almost {$200.00} so I filed a complaint with CFPB, and number for that is listed above. However, just this week I received a bill from XXXX XXXX for the old account ending in # XXXX with a balance due of {$53.00}. This included a listing of all the refunds per late fees and interest. I also received a bill from XXXX XXXX for the new account ending in # XXXX with a XXXX balance. # XXXX. The two bills are attached as is the letter.
